Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
What a shame your day out was a let down, Mick. Rainy days out in the UK do tend to become expensive unless you can find somewhere like a free art gallery or museum to pass the time.

So sorry to read that your mum is visibly deteriorating, Susan56. My mum died very suddenly which was a shock but I'm thankful that she didn't have a slow decline which she would have hated. Sending you strength.

DD arrived late morning and we spent the day catching up together.
She distracted the little chap in the garden while I helped DH build the new bed.
The little chap was very excited about it when it was finished. Getting him to stay in it at bedtime was another story! He'll get the idea, but it may take a few evenings of being consistent and calm.

Today at church there's a send off for someone who's been a big part of the church since a youngster and is moving away. He's no idea what's planned so hopefully he'll be pleased that so many people will miss him.

Yesterday was sunny all day and our arts festival was well attended. My pottery was open and there were plenty of sales.

Most people knew about my impending move and think it's a good thing.

Open again today and next weekend. Luckily I am sharing with others so will be able to go out and see what else is on

I've been invited out for dinner tonight.

Good morning everybody from Málaga where it’s sunny already and 32°C is forecast for all next week, not humid and with a gentle breeze. Excellent.

I’m back in my own apartment having waved the family off for their flight back to Manchester. I’ve carted all my boxes and bags down here using the lift. Good to get that out of the way early as the lift I used for the frequent trips was totally mine for the exercise - which made it all so much quicker.

Washing machines in both apartments are doing their thing and I shall be a veritable Widow Twankey this morning, washing sheets and towels both bathroom and beach!

Anyway I’ve had a lovely time with the family and I was grateful for the use of my friend’s apartment but it’s nice to be back in here. I’ve missed having the WiFi!

Now to squirrel all my stuff away back into the cupboards and wardrobes before I chill this afternoon with my Kindle in the gardens. Sure I’ll be having a dip at some stage too. L’il Miss made me laugh one day when she said “grandma isn’t it refreshing”!

Good morning from N. Bucks. We had several showers yesterday, one prolonged and more rain overnight. The sun is out as I type but cool and more rain forecast later.

We are picking up MIL late morning and taking her out for lunch . Otherwise we’ll see how the day goes.

Back home after a joyful holiday with DS3 and family, lots of food, drink and laughter. The teens were good company and fun.

One load of washing done, many more to do. Sainsbury’s delivery first thing this morning, DD and boys will pop in some time today.

Today will consist of looking after two crazy schnauzers. Nothing else will get done until they settle in together. I just hope it will stay dry as neither like the rain.
They have very different personalities but a number of breed traits make them similar in many ways too.

Good morning from an overcast NE where the forecast is for rain on and off all day.
I was unwell yesterday after another disturbed night, I didn't get out of bed until mid afternoon.
It was SIL'S birthday, but he did not receive any of the family birthday cards despite them being posted more than three weeks ago.
The postal service in Belgium is appalling.

Today DS, family and I are are going for afternoon tea at Lumley Castle. It is to celebrate GD2's 17th birthday which is on Wednesday but also the day she starts 6th form at her new school.

Quiet day today with call to DB who is waiting for an operation and not coping at all well. He says himself he has got away with it for over 70 years and has no coping mechanisms that the rest of us had to work on years ago.
I might do the pile of ironing and I have a few birthday parcels to pack.

Good morning everyone from a bright mid Essex. Yesterday I had intended to go out for my usual walk after breakfast, but was sidetracked in the garden and spent 20 minutes or so hacking back some ivy which was growing onto the fence from another neighbour’s garden. By the time I had finished it was raining, so I didn’t go for my walk.
It rained on and off all day and there are signs of the grass beginning to grow, along with the weeds!
DD2 will call in this morning, on her way to the campsite where her OH and DGDs have spent the night. They are involved in a charity event in a nearby town later this morning, so I hope it stays dry for them.

It’s a shame that the weather spoiled your trip to Bath yesterday mick.

susan I’m sorry that your mum has deteriorated, it must be very distressing for you and your family and your DGD in particular.

greyduster enjoy your day out to Fountains Abbey, I went many years ago and agree that it’s a beautiful place.

Good Morning everyone from a cool but dry-at-last central south coast. My rain dance (well more of a shuffle than a dance) finally worked yesterday and we had a LOT of rain. Much needed and much appreciated.

Yesterday I did another long family memories email to my Manx niece who has requested them. It has brought back a lot of things I have not thought of for many years and made me think about our personal memory banks and how much is filed in them! I am pleased that she is interested in this oral family history.

Today we are doing laundry and will have a nice lunch of hot smoked salmon with various vegetables and some new potatoes. Nothing much else planned but we will see what the day brings.

Good morning, clear blue skies and sunshine here in south Glos but storms are forecast for later.
It bucketed down here yesterday, very welcome, and the garden is looking better. My empty water butt is two thirds full, happy me!
I had a good tidy of two cupboards yesterday before one of my SILs arrived. She’s a strange lady, never married, very acerbic and I find her very difficult to converse with even after knowing her for more than 50 years!
She stayed for nearly three hours by which time I was 🫩
I unpicked and restarted a piece of crewel work so I will carry on with it today.
Stuffed courgettes for dinner, one of my favourite meals, I will make enough to have tomorrow as well. I want to make some plum jam, DH bought three big punnets and we’ll never eat them all before they go bad. I hope I have enough jars.
So, that’s today’s plan 😁

I’m intrigued Glammagran about the funeral, I must have a google….
Bath is expensive Mick, I used to go there regularly, but I’ve only been twice since Covid! There’s little that entices me to go there nowadays.

Not sure what today will bring. I have no plans for the day. I was thinking of going blackberrying but there aren’t many of quality and the rain has probably finished them off.
I may go and have a mooch around an antique centre and then relax with my crochet hook this afternoon . Talk about living the dream

Morning from Blackpool. Can’t believe how dark it is this morning! Working today in retail and expecting a busy Sunday . Packing later for my holiday from Tuesday . I am usually packing hours before I go but trying to be more organised

Morning all from a damp and grey West Oxfordshire. It looks like autumn!

I have had to order some cotton thread online before I can finish my quilt. There are no haberdashers nearby, at least it gives me time to think of what pattern I might do.

Church this morning and then a lazy day. I spent hours yesterday sewing the backing onto the quilt and making a quilt ‘sandwich’.

Good morning from Wiltshire. Goodness, we had a lot of rain yesterday. The grass was starting to green up before my eyes.

Today is GD3’s 8th birthday party for family. DD1 and DS will be along with their families as well as my sister and her DH. I think there will be 17 of us. She will have one for her friends once the new school term starts. BBQ will go ahead even if we have to eat indoors as they have a large outdoor area which is under cover.

We saw an extraordinary spectacle on Friday afternoon. We were driving along the London Road towards Chippenham, past the cemetery, where we noticed dozens of cars were parked along the road on the pavements. Then a little further on past the chicanes we saw a funeral procession approaching with hundreds of cars going past in the opposite direction so we could not get through. We were in stuck there for nearly 3/4 of an hour. It was the funeral of the man who was shot dead recently in Cricklade. There were Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, Land Rovers galore with year 26 number plates and then there were vehicles with plates just showing the name of the man who was shot. They had come from all over the country. The hearse itself was pulled by 4 horses. Eventually we did get through. The whole town was gridlocked as the police had closed off main roads with police cars everywhere. All the pubs in Chippenham had closed I read. I’ll leave you to guess the type of people they were. They have so much money that they could afford to rent a full size screen in Times Square, New York of the deceased man which I saw on FB. My jaw dropped open at the many, open flat bed floats being towed with memorabilia going past too. Ostentatious doesn’t begin to cover it.

I hope the antibiotics are working well for you Madeleine and that your mouth is improving MD. Thoughts to the many other GNs with their ongoing problems.

Good morning from s somerset, showers today but not as wet as yesterday

Yesterday reminded me of foraging for mushrooms in the Elan valley, very wet. I needed to go out and put on the raincoat I bought when I lived in the lake district, I only ever wear it when rain is very heavy, the mac is almost down to my ankles and is waterproof with a fantastic hood. It feels nice and big on me, considering I bought it in 1978. Good as new

I made toile 1, very roughly because I was not at all sure about the alterations, chucked that one away and have started on toile 2, carefully this time as I think this will be good. The dress has a back zip but I have a long chain with a hook fastener to fasten onto the zip. I will see how it goes but it may be the only back-zipped dress I ever make again.

My excursion yesterday took me past the artisan bakery, I wish I had not put money in my pocket, needless to say I found myself inside the door and bought a luscious filled and very expensive doughnut and a small sourdough loaf. It has made me all the more determined to carry on making home-made sourdough, much cheaper and tastier.

The weather is again very autumnal today, I think I will get to the allotment, sort some water catchment bins and just keep an eye on things.

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but rain and thunder forecast for later.

A very tiring day yesterday.DD wanted to call at Cheshire Oaks on the way to see mum then we went to Costco.We got to the care home mid afternoon and as soon as I looked through the window into the lounge I could see a massive deterioration in mum.I had a long chat with the nurse who agreed mum has declined.There were moments of brightness and she wanted to hold my hand.We all felt upset when we left especially DGD who is ten.She loves visiting great grandma but I don’t think she should go again😢

Today will be a quiet day catching up with household jobs and admin with I am sure reading and a snooze this afternoon.

Gnash Gnash I had nearly finished my saga and the flipping thing has disappeared yet again!! Why does it seem to be doing this only with Gransnet. I am now in need of a coffee before I try again so will be back. I started this post when you couldnt even see the outline of the tree against the sky, and now it is very clear. Grr!! I will be back!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dry and still dark at the moment. Yesterday was wet pretty much all day so I didn’t get much done outside. The grass is greening up very fast.

I have an early start today. I’m going out for the day with DD and the menfolk to Fountains Abbey, a place I love, but DD has never been so I hope the rain will stay off so that she can enjoy it because, as abbey ruins go, it’s very impressive and so is the parkland it sits in.

Good morning from a still dark Torbay where we had enough rain yesterday to help the park opposite me to look green again. It’s a shame that the rain spoilt your day out in Bath, Mick, because that must have led to you spending more money to stay out of it.

My DS decided at the last minute to come down for the weekend so he is staying with his Dad but will come and see me after church this morning bringing my DGS3. I am the accompanist at church for the last time for a while.
