Good Morning Sunday 9th August 2026

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

DD2 and family arrived yesterday and we had a good catch up. Then DS2 arrived and we all had a good chat. We then ordered fish and chips to be delivered. They took 90 minutes to arrive so DH is composing a mildly complaining email. We rarely have them delivered - dh prefers to order on line and then go to collect.

Gingster, I cannot believe it is fifteen month's since your DH's stroke. 💕

Nothing much to report, DH is still struggling. Thankfully, he remembers nothing of his collapse behind the shower room door, nor his procedure on Friday.
DD and SIL are on holiday and celebrating their wedding anniversary They know nothing about what has happened, for DD would have come rushing back, when there is nothing to be done.
I will update them, when they reurn.

A school friend of DH's had seen him with me and said DH looked wandered, meaning he looked as if he was a bit confused. That upset me.

On a lighter note. My sacristan friend was at Mass last night and having been on holiday, came to ask how DH was.
He went to give me a hug, but the velcro on my splints stuck to his sweater.
His wife appeared, she is a scary woman only to find me locked in an embrace with her husband. I couldn't release my hands from his back. 😱
I am such a hussy!🤣

I need to go down and help at the later morning Mass, there is a Baptism and we are missing a sacristan. Normally, I would go to both masses, but I am trying to curtail, what I do.
I had a lovely New dress laid out, however, change of plan, a sweater is required. 😔

I have roasted a chicken and will make Chicken Maryland for DH, to tempt him to eat, it's a favourite of his.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk which like many of you I think,am wishing I could wake up to a cool breeze and rain. Our pond has nearly dried up totally so I’ve put out a large bowl of water which I hope the family of moorhens can at least drink from,if not swim in.

DH and I are off to a Glen Miller orchestra concert tonight at Snape Maltings .it is sold out and is the original GM band. DH loves their music and,whilst I’m not a huge fan,I’ll enjoy the evening I’m sure.

Til then it will be a day spent in the cooler parts of the house and having a quiet day.

Good to hear that R&L is being cared for this weekend which must help recovery and feeling better. Hope others with worries/ ill health have an easy day.

We visited DS and family yesterday morning and saw GC, so DD has managed to see everyone during her stay

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s cool in South Yorkshire at the moment but we are in for another warm dry week😩. It will be the death knell for my garden.

DS and DiL came down yesterday and we had a nice lunch at a local pub. I asked him to check my car tyres for me as I had a warning message on the dash. He used both his tyre pressure monitor to check, and then mine and said the tyres were fine. It’s not the first time this car has cried wolf over some perceived fault.

DD and her menfolk are coming over later for lunch so I will have had plenty of company this weekend. I’ll make strawberry sponge flan for pudding.

R&L perhaps try wedging a pillow under your knees? Himself had to sleep semi upright with his oesophageal stent and found this helped.

Good morning everyone from a different bit of mid Essex! I’m at DD1’s now for the week, looking after her dog while they’re on holiday. I think their house may be marginally cooler than mine, a hot week is forecast.

rosesandlilac I’m pleased your DS is helping you this weekend. I find it hard to sleep propped up on pillows and always end up sideways across the bed.

Roseandlilac your sleeping description reminded me of when a friend and I slept under the stars on Dartmoor and in the night, unnoticed by us, we rolled down a slope and ended up hanging over the edge of a dried up stream. Not quite the same situation I know but it brought back a memory I'd forgotten for years so thank you for that!

Indeed it is, latedecember1963! In fact, as Yes, Prime Minister is our summer show, it’s running for two weeks, hoping to attract holidaymakers as well as our regular local folk.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s sunny again (lovely) and 24°C is forecast “just right” as Goldilocks would say.

L’il Miss is being dropped off here late morning while her parents and big brother all go off to see Spider-Man V.
Doubtless I’ll be sending her home with a bag of lunch from Greggs for her and the Boy Wonder!

I’ll then nip into my larder and choose something nice to eat before meeting my daughter when we plan sharing a bottle of chilled Pinot Blush in one of the many bars. Might be nice to sit outside as it’ll be around 4 o’clock.

This photo I took at noon yesterday as I was passing, it was an hour before the bar opened for the day. It doesn’t serve food and is SO popular all those seats will have been taken later in the afternoon!

Good morning from my patio in Cornwall where a delicious breeze is wafting in from the river. At this time of day the low sun shines on the underside of the gulls as they fly over; a lovely sight.

I spent some precious time with my son's partner yesterday, a rare occurrence as she's usually at work when I'm at their house, and she found on Vinted a denim top I want to deconstruct so that I can create a dressmaking pattern from it - my goal for this forthcoming overheated week.

My sole globe artichoke in a tub (planted in memory of my much-missed allotment) is kindly producing its first bud and my oregano (ditto re allotment) is flowering so that's heartening. I think my topiary box trees may not survive though.

Today I'll read and potter and may go to a nearby church at 4pm. My own church crowd have gone off to a summer camp.

Good morning from a cloudy Essex coast. I'm sure the sun will make an appearance later.
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday celebrating DD2 's birthday.
The journey over to Kent wasn't so lovely but we got there in the end.
Today DGD1 is 18. The family are off to London to celebrate.
DH and I will go to the club at lunchtime, no other plans today.

Good morning everyone from Lancashire where it's looking like a sunny start to the day.

Yesterday I made good progress with sorting out the spare room.
I was ruthless with teaching materials and resources. As I was going through boxes I was taken down memory lane and I could picture the classes of children I'd used things with but the reality is I won't be using them in a classroom again.
When I dithered, I reminded myself of my friend's advice not to keep things I don't intend to take if and when we downsize.
I've kept some reading and maths items that might be useful for the little chap but everything else has gone. Feels strange but that chapter of my life is done.

Today I'll go to church then this afternoon the little chap's parents are coming here for their August visit. It's DS's birthday tomorrow so I'm doing a birthday tea.

That's weird about your beetroots, Karma. Our integral garage gets hot too but I hadn't thought about it getting so hot!

I’ll start again! Good morning all from a cloudy Morecambe Bay where I shall enjoy the cool day ahead of next week. We won’t be here as we heading out in our camper to spend a few days in Wales. I think it’s forecast hot there too. I’m having doubts about living in the camper if it gets too hot.
The vet removed a small length of thick hair from CDogs paw yesterday and he seemed to lick less afterwards but I shall see if the inflammation has gone down this morning when he wakes up. The vet wasn’t convinced that was the problem but couldn’t see any entry point for a seed. He has some tablets to take if he continues licking.
We tried him with a protective sock but he can’t move while wearing it. He’s so dramatic. He can’t move with a soft cone either!
I’ll finish my TiB then we’ll head to the woods before I go to church then as DH will be watching football I’ll cook a few bits to take camping with us.
Good to hear there was nothing sinister with MrMD and that R&L is recovering well. Wishing the best for everyone else especially those with family problems. Take care🌸

Good morning from the NE where it is dry and 14°, the forecast is for a high of 19° and rain.
Went into the garden to read but found the wind too chewy.
DS messaged to say he had arrived at his in laws and sent photos of their parched garden. There is a hosepipe ban in place with an exception for vegetables.
Nothing planned for today, will just see how I feel when I get out of bed.

I’m looking forward to a video catch up call with DS this morning and then the rest of the day is clear. I’m a bit tired after an enjoyable evening yesterday as the line dancing social, I wasn’t in too late but it took me a while to get to sleep afterwards.

Good Morning everyone from the usual sunny central south coast. It's set to get hot again which is not what I ordered!

Your bed positioning post made me smile Roses. I can empathise as I often find myself totally out of position too. I have to wriggle to get comfortable which is not often successful!

Yesterday was lovely and I met my friend at her station and off we went to RHS Hyde Hall. Yes GG it was the flower show and there must have been a million people there.

It was so hot but we hunted for shady areas and had an ice cream, where we met some friends and sat with them for a while. I was shattered when I got home. Trains all perfect.

hadn’t been since just before Dh had his stroke about 15 months ago. We used to go a lot and take the grandchildren . I have rejoined and will take a cab there or take a friend who is happy to drive. It’s only 15/20 minutes away.

Lots of stalls and I bought a hat. I must have left all my hats at the cottage.
There was a company exhibiting scooters etc for disabled and I found one that would be perfect for Dh. I showed him the brochure when I got home. No interest! What more can I do to get him out.! We’ve tried wheelchair and rollator with no success.

While I was waiting on the busy platform for the train I heard a voice calling ‘Nanna’. Looked around to see dgd2 and newish boyfriend going to London for the weekend. She looked so sweet and pretty and I immediately liked the chap. Lovely to see them so happy .

Nothing on today. DS1 and DIL will pop in for morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Dh still in pain with sore mouth but little pooch seems better.

Good morning from Torbay, where it’s already warm and sunny.

Yesterday saw me spending quite a bit of time asleep after a busy week of rehearsals. I do feel better for it this morning and I’m sure this will help me cope with the demanding fortnight ahead during which we shall stage 14 performances!

This morning, I am the accompanist for the 9.30 service. Luckily, the hymns are familiar and not too difficult to play! Later this afternoon we have our final dress rehearsal.

Nothing planned other than reading my kindle on a sun lounger in the garden. I appreciate we need rain (if only it could rain overnight) and I feel for those who do not like warm weather but, I am making the most of summer by eating outside and enjoying the sunshine on my old bones.
