A thread for people who have been on GN a long time

Don’t worry boheminan a few of us are unmemorable even without a name change
I’ve met some lovely people through this site, in all corners of the world. I made a very good friend and met up with her a few times but we sadly lost touch a couple of years ago. She isn’t on the list.
I like seeing the old names occasionally when a very old thread is opened up.

I was Kitty, I think my first user name was Soutra based on my home area.

That immediately stood out for me, because it's quite close to where I am.

Oh dear, my contributions at that time were so boring, I'm not memorable. However, I changed my name, so maybe that put others off my trail! Lots of blasts from the past in the list, leading to - 'I wonder where they are now?' Jinglebellrocks seems to have frequently changed her name as I think she was frequently sent away to the naughty step.

It is strange this thread should pop up as I was sorting out some recipes the other day and found a page I had printed off from GN entitled something from ‘nothing’ and there were names from the past there some of whom I recognised and some I did not.There were contributions from

I am still around, nana8 but i don't think BlueBelle was saying we weren't.

Greatnan was here when I first joined. Phoenix too from fairly early i think but maybe with a name change.

Maw would have been around too, I expect.

I’m surprised JessM, Absent, Micelf, Jeni (surely she became Galen later ) Anagram, Glitabo, Geatnan, Juragran, Crimson, Speck4eyes and others that I remember from 16(?) years ago aren’t on that list!

I have met with a few but none of the names are mentioned here. I agree, I have received excellent advice which was the main reason I joined and stayed.

How amazing that many of you have met up. I haven’t been on here long but have found some excellent advice on here.

I cannot remember when I joined, but just know I’m neither a newbie nor a long termer but I do enjoy this site, have loved meeting you all “virtually” and will one day hope to be a “lint termer*

I recognise most of those names. Went on several lovely cruises with Galen. Sadly, her health and poor mobility have put an end to any more travels together, but we had some good times.

I recognise most of them. Some names change over time of course. I've met a few of them at meet ups and the Edinburgh Gransnet conference.

I enjoyed meeting up with you, annodomini, wi64 and others in the early days.
I joined gransnet after I retired and despite occasionally feeling fed up with what I see as goady comments, I’ve remained. I miss some of our earlier posters. Greatnan stands out as an interesting poster and I remember mumsnet joining us in the search for her. RIP greatnan, phoenix, jingle and others

I remember a few of those names, particulary Jingles, whose posts were quite amusing, Galen sent me a Pm after one of my first posts after joining GN, warning me not to pick on a friend poster of hers... i didnt think i had ! Put me of GN for awhile.

I remember meeting Annodomini and I am 64 at meet ups . Happy days

I recognise almost all of them and have met at least four of them at meetups(Penstemmon, Dustyangel, Soutra( under a different name! ) and Annodomini). Btw it is FloweroftheWEST). Thanks for this post BlueBelle. It brought back happy memories.
