Happy Anniversary, Mr and Mrs Gingster 🥂

Litterpicker Fri 10-Jul-26 10:53:24

You look very cool FGT 😍

Litterpicker Fri 10-Jul-26 10:51:32

Good morning from West Sussex by the sea. No need to describe the weather-it’s the same as most of the UK 🙂

I finally made up my mind on Wednesday (your key ring motto describes me perfectly FGT 🫤) and took the train to Brighton. I got my book for bookclub, The Correspondent, and browsed in my favourite shops but was too indecisive to buy anything apart from a healthy wholewheat loaf from Infinity Foods and a slice of pizza for my lunch. It felt very warm in the early afternoon and I arrived at DD’s rather damp. Probably sitting upstairs at the front of a bus heading west was a bad choice 😂. DGD1 made me an iced latte and it cooled down enough by 6pm for me to do some gardening, very slowly. We are trying to remove many clumps of pendulous sedge. It really needs a strong person wielding a pick axe!

Yesterday I recovered at home, alternately sleeping and reading. Today I am dog sitting but don’t need to walk her as she had an early morning walk and will have another later. She can go out in our (very small) garden. I will maybe do some gentle cleaning and tidying and read some more of my book.

Gingster, ‘Happy Emerald Anniversary’ to you and your DH.

Happy Birthday Madeleine 🎂

Best wishes to all

A really lovely photograph FGT enjoy your day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 10-Jul-26 10:24:13

I’m here incognito at the beach
Thought it best really - to avoid the paps - because if word gets round I’ll get no peace 😂

I bought this cheap €5 sun hat on the way down as I decided perhaps my more expensive boutique one ought to be for strolling about town!

Usedtobeblonde Fri 10-Jul-26 10:20:26

Dragonfly we are here for all life’s moments, good and bad.
You are in my thoughts.
Happy Birthday Madeleine
My D is 61 today, my GD was 24 yesterday, my step GS 18 was on Wednesday and my GD’s BF/partner was 32 on Sunday.
The effect on my purse has been enormous.

Happy Birthday madeleine 🥂🎂 I’m another fan of Canal Boat Diaries.

And Happy Anniversary gingster, enjoy your day.

dragonfly I’m sorry that the results of your DH’s scan weren’t as good as had been hoped.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s another glorious start to the day. My friend and I are going to visit her ex-DH with a bottle of gin for his 75th birthday. Weirdly, he turned out to be an awful husband, but is now a good friend to her and even does our airport runs, day or night.
DD2 and I have nail appointments later, we prefer mornings, but it’s 4pm today,
I’ve her laundry to take back and there’s probably more to do. In addition, I’ll see if DD1 is home as I have a small gift from Malaga for DGS1.
💐Dragonfly
Your surgeon seems very caring Roses and it sounds that you’re in safe hands.
🥂Emeralds are my favourite gemstones! 🎂Madeleine

Best wishes to all. X

Happy birthday Madeleine, I haven’t time to read properly this morning, but was glad to see one of your longer posts again, I’ll catch up with everyone later when I get back from audiologist. Right side hearing aid continues to be almost unwearable, so sore. well aware this is a minor problem.

Best wishes all.

Good morning everyone from yet another hot Northampton day, just hoping it cools down a bit over the weekend as is promised. And I am truly fed up of staying home, being very wary of going out in these temperatures. Getting a lot of reading done, though, and am two thirds of the way through my latest book.

I managed to finish vacuuming the stairs yesterday - cleaning the filters obviously worked, and then gave the Shark a whirl around the downstairs rooms. Too hot for any more housework!
Waitrose delivered on time, and I gave the driver a chilled can of lemonade.

Dancing classes have been cancelled this morning, so it is another day in. After lunch I have a gardener coming to have a look at my garden; hopefully he will feel able to take it on. It badly needs tidying and some TLC.

Glad that your appointment went well yesterday Roses - hoping you feel more at ease about your upcoming operation.

Take it easy everyone, stay cool if you can, and have the best day.

Happy birthday 🥳 Madeleine!

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

I am still in agony with my trapped nerve but the GP has ordered an MRI.

We got the dreaded phone call yesterday from DH’s consultant. They did find something small on his liver and he is having a PET scan on Tuesday. The consultant seems to think they can zap it with microwaves.
We just have to wait and see.

So sorry to darken the mood.

harrigran Fri 10-Jul-26 08:50:13

Good morning from Anstruther where it is 18°, a comfortable temperature as my bedroom is on the ground floor.
Yesterday we managed to round everyone up by 12.30 and we drove to Kellie castle, did a tour and then spent some time in the gardens as they were so peaceful.
Last night GD1 made dinner, a very tasty lasagne.
GDs wanted to watch the football so the enormous TV was switched on, very rarely do we watch TV on holiday.
DS went to the harbour front and photographed the golden hour.
* Marydoll* when I looked out of the window Yesterday I couldn't see the Isle of May, thought I was having a Brigadoon moment.
No plans yet for today, the girls are thinking about swimming in the tidal pool, not an option for me.
Happy birthday Madeleine.
Hope you and your DH have a better day Marydoll.

Good Morning from a pleasant Co Armagh , there’s a hazy sun at the moment
Madeleine happy birthday wishes , I’m a fan of both Canal programs . There is a volunteer group trying to get the canal here navigatable
Yesterday I couldn’t bear cold water on my skin , I had to use a facecloth and tepid water to cool down
Haircut today , I wonder will she agree to not blow dry my less than lovely tresses
GrandMatie I’m well acquainted with the proverbial egg shells !
MD I hope the antibiotics help and the itch stops , I suppose calamine cream has already been tried
Take care in the heat all and hope for a wee bit of a breeze
