Lighthearted - How long do you display Birthday Cards?

I am celebrating my 85th birthday over two Saturdays - a fortnight apart. My actual birthday fell on a Saturday, but with three of my younger g.children being involved with GCSE's, could not arrange the family celebration until two week later. Had a lovely afternoon tea with a couple of dozen local friends

Anyway, this means that I have lots of birthday cards, which i have put up on all available spaces in my Living Room. Many have been hand-made and I will keep these until the Saturday of my family party.

Just wondering how long after that I should still keep them up? So was wondering how long other G.N's display birthday cards.

DH’s. Birthday was ten days after mine, so mine were replaced by his.

I leave all the cards up for about a week. Then I keep the ones from the nearest and dearest for about another week.

Mine stay up for a month, after which it's my OH's birthday so he gets the space on the mantelpiece smile

I usually receive five birthday cards and an e-card. My 70th was last week and I’ll keep them on display until the end of next weekend.

Many happy belated returns for your 70th twiglet77 💐

To the friends & family who go to the trouble & expense of buy a card & stamp, I think it’s a bit miserable of folk to bin after only one day. Unless you genuinely have no room to display them.

I only put the 2 from girls on the window sill in my living room for a few days, if there any others I don’t bother they go in the recycling after a few days but I keep the other 2 in a box. Most birthday greetings are Watsapp messages from from GC and there family’s.

I'm sorry for the spelling and grammer mistakes my addled brain is fried wink

A week and they often are displayed with my Mothers Day cards.
My neighbour seems to keep hers up for a month.

I make bookmarks or gift tags out of the pretty ones.

I get quite a lot ( smug mode) and keep them all up for a full week🤭

@Franbern

Happy Birthday, it sounds like you're having a great time.

I keep birthday cards up until I think it's time to remove them, which varies greatly. It's not something I actively think about, so they come down whenever I happen to remove them. It's usually a couple of weeks but this year they were up for about 11 weeks. My wife is the same. They look nice up, there's only us and the cats here, so no big deal for us.

DH’s birthday was over 4 weeks ago, but I only took the cards down for Father’s Day.

You can tell I don’t overwork the dusting front!

JamesandJon33 Mon 22-Jun-26 11:39:43

Depends. If they are special and or interesting, I put them on the notice board in the kitchen. Otherwise , in the bin after a few days.

Silvergirl Mon 22-Jun-26 11:34:20

One week unless they are home made. I keep these forever.

Visgir1 Mon 22-Jun-26 11:31:42

1 week in this household. My Late MiL, binned them after 24 hrs. When I asked her why after so many folk bothered to select and send them? she just replied, it's not my Birthday now.

Wheniwasyourage Mon 22-Jun-26 11:30:11

Usually a week, but a bit longer for special family (or particularly funny) ones.

Cabowich Mon 22-Jun-26 11:13:05

Two weeks for me, too. Just like my mum.
