A sunny morning here in Co Durham. Thank you for the good wishes yesterday. I’m up but not dressed yet. I’ve hot aches where I had none yesterday but feeling better overall. DD2 brought our dinner last night and left some for tonight. So thoughtful. Hope our other fallers are better too.
I may not even attempt to get dressed 😀

‘Parting is such sweet sorrow’ karma it’s good you have your allotment. A favourite space for ‘grounding’ yourself today. A good way of describing your needs.

Oh grandMattie how tragic that dog slipped its harness and died like that! A shock to your friend, the driver and to your friend’s daughter the owner of the little dog. She’d left her dog in the care of her mum. Both will be devastated.

And Roses&Lilac you are very pragmatic about your ‘urgent’ appointment. Maybe it’s because you are a retired nurse but I couldn’t settle into such a wait half as well as you are doing. I have health anxiety at the best of times and even my up and coming mammogram on Monday morning has me apprehensive about the results already. In my defence, I think attending Christie’s for the past 3 years with Himself has given me an insight which I hope none of my family ever have to repeat.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, going to be a warm day. Have just put a few t-shirts in the washing machine.

Got back home late morning yesterday from DDs, having called at the eye clinic on the way home to pick up some more eye drops.
Found that a cat had been sick all over the one of the beds; so stripped and washed everything including the duvet (which was luckily a very light summer one). Everything dried nicely in the warm sunshine.

Need to call in at the post office this morning to return an Amazon delivery - I had ordered some of my favourite gel pens, but they turned out to be ballpoints instead, which I definitely did not want.
Then I shall bus down to the village to meet a friend and watch the end of her ballet class, then we shall pick up our recently bereaved elderly friend and take her for coffee and shopping. I need a few things as well.

Home-made curry from the freezer for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a pleasant Friday.

Cressy Fri 19-Jun-26 08:33:37

Thank you - my toes are like prunes, they haven’t been out of the water. 😂

Good morning from a dry northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday and I’m off to art soon. I’ve just finished Alison Uttley’s diaries and went through them like a dose of salt. She was rather acidic at times and I now have Tennessee Williams’ Letters propped on the kitchen table.

I’m feeling tired a lot these days, which is a bother, the spirit is willing but etc.etc.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
All the talk of heat on here I find amusing.

I'm going on a trip around the Bass Rock today and been told to wear warm clothes and waterproofs! I'm also wondering about seasick pills.....

Yesterday the coach trip was to Thirlestane castle followed by lunch in the servants' kitchen. It rained a lot but the guided tour was interesting.

I'm glad your shed has been a happy refuge R&L

I thought at first your photos were your garden Gelisajams. Lovely indeed. I love my heritage roses too. This is Gertrude Jekyll.

Grandmabatty Dishoom was a favourite with DH and DS1 who used to meet there sometimes for breakfast. Enjoy!

Sorry to read about the poor little dog.
Enjoy your time with DS gMattie

I hope those of you struggling have some relief today.

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny.

Here we go again with another heatwave! 🥵.
I can’t believe we chose a week at our seaside cottage that rained every day , InBetween 2 heatwaves! 😤. I like to be by the sea when it’s so hot. Oh well just hunker down indoors, fan on , watching the tennis. (Grumpy old me).

We had some excitement yesterday afternoon when police sirens got louder and louder and screeched to a halt opposite our house.
Twopolicemen got out and ran into the garden opposite , round the back and emerged with a scruffy looking, middle aged man, in handcuffs. He was thoroughly searched and his multiple bags emptied and then taken away in the police car.
The house is owned by a young couple with two small children, so they must have been scared. I’ll find out more today.

Today we’ll get a cab to meet out Friday friends. One couple will not be there. He has advanced Parkinsons and is bad at the moment and she has cellulitis as well as other things . They really are in a bad way, but no moans or groans from either of them.
Our other friend will bring us home. ❤️.

GM I can feel your excitement at seeing your son. Enjoy every minute you’re with him.
How terrible for the lady with the dog. She must feel dreadful.

Gelisajams I hope your pooch recovers quickly. I hate it when the animals are poorly. 😢

Take care all and enjoy the sun, (those who like it) 😉☀️

Good morning from rainy South Lanarkshire. I do hope the weather improves for the start of the school holidays next weekend.

Our usual jaunt to Edinburgh yesterday where I sorted laundry and did a bit of tidying before the nursery and school pickup. This was our last school run till August as we will be away next week.

I’ll have to pop up to Argos as a new iron is urgently needed after mine expired. Otherwise it will be a quietish day, our local friends had to have their dog put to sleep yesterday so we may drop in to see them for five minutes later, I know the sadness they will be feeling.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Gagagran Fri 19-Jun-26 08:00:23

Good Morning all from a lovely sunny, warm morning on the central south coast. Think it will warm up now for the next day or so but it's so nice to have summer mornings like this to enjoy.

My poor old ribs have eased a bit thank goodness, following my rose garden dive last Saturday. I can feel an improvement after a very uncomfortable week.

Our Tesco delivery is due between 9am and 10am but it is usually early. The lovely delivery drivers always, very kindly, unpack the shopping onto my kitchen table so I can sort it at my leisure. Much appreciated.

This morning, DH is leading a small group from his cycling club on a morning coffee and cake ride. I shall enjoy the sunshine and continue my recovery ready for DS and family visiting on Sunday.

Wishing everyone with worries or struggles on any kind a better day with some ease and comfort.

Good morning from an already hot and sunny Suffolk. I’m just about to go and water the pots in the back yard when I’ve finished my 2nd cup of tea. They mainly contain roses and continue to give much pleasure if we sit there sheltered by the back of part of the house.

Apart from popping into our nearest town to collect a boook I’ve reserved from the library and beginning to look at papers for my monthly meeting next week it will be a quiet day in wherever looks the cooler parts of the garden and house.

I hope those who have plans to meet up with family have lovely times and all have a pleasant and peaceful day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 19-Jun-26 07:47:00

Morning all from what promises to be a very sunny West Oxfordshire.

We enjoyed watching the new Spielberg film Disclosure Day yesterday. The screening was at 1 pm so we took sandwiches.

Back home I poached a chicken, made Coronation sauce and whipped some cream.

Two of my cousins will arrive for lunch today around noon. I haven’t seen them since their father’s funeral the year before last.

Have a good day everyone and keep hydrated as it’s going to be scorchio again.

luluaugust Fri 19-Jun-26 07:46:33

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Shopping this morning and tidying up this afternoon. Some of the family are here Sunday for Father’s Day, not quite sure how that happened but DS and DD2 are making the puddings.
The nurse says I need earwax removed so have sorted that out for next week.
DH suddenly very tired and gone quite not sure what is worrying him.
Best wishes

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 19-Jun-26 07:43:59

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s 18°C at present, rising to 24°C with showers. Alexa says the grass pollen is high today which accounts for my scratchy throat and itchy ears! Not bad enough for an antihistamine yet though.

I’ve just had a very excited girlie FaceTime me in her school uniform getting into mum’s car.
“My first ever sleepover at yours grandma!”
“Don’t forget your toothbrush!”

I sounded like Chris Evan’s back in the day 😁

I’m meeting a friend in Chorlton for brunch. I get the bus from opposite Sainsbury’s, msg her when I’m on it and she hops on at the stop over the road from hers! So handy for both of us. She’s off on a holiday next week to a Warners hotel in the Cotswolds a 3 ½ hour drive from here. She has a lovely BMW and enjoys driving. She is suggesting we ‘go somewhere’ soon for an overnighter. I fancy Cartmel. We must make plans.

If you’re still reading, I’ve got my last Bereavement counselling session this afternoon. My expectations were low to be honest but he’s been the most empathetic counsellor. These sessions have helped me greatly giving me an opportunity to talk through my anguish without boring the pants off friends or upsetting my girls with some of the more personal details. “A safe space” he said “where nothing goes out of this room”.

I’ve bought him a bottle of wine and written out a thank you card to show my appreciation.

I think the biggest healer is time though. You can’t rush through grief and it comes and goes as it will. I miss Himself terribly every single day but he lives on in our hearts. He would be proud of us all. It’s what our brave man wanted - for us to find “the joy of living”. Thank you darling man for your blessing. 💙

Marydoll Fri 19-Jun-26 07:43:06

Good morningvall, it's 17°C here already, However, it sounds windy.

Lovely nails, Bela.♥️

GM, you must feel excited at seeing your son.

I had planned to visit Silverburn today the sales are on, but I'm still feeling unwell. Apart from going for my blood test yesterday, I spent the day lying down.

Yesterday, I received an order of garden ready plants from Dobies; Despite paying £41 instead of £117 and not expecting much, they were in great condition. I just don't have the energy to plant them.

Brook, I hope you are enjoying your cruise and *GrandnaC 47 is improving after her fall.

Have a pleasant day, folks.

ginny Fri 19-Jun-26 07:38:38

Good morning from a sunny warm N. Bucks. That’s how I like it. I’ve had a couple of very active days so will hopefully be a bit quieter today. I need to make some small cakes for my G. Nieces birthday tomorrow . A bit of housework and then relax with some artwork. This evening we are boy sitting for DD3. DGSs don’t like it being called baby sitting!
DD1 called us yesterday to say she had shingles so hope that doesn’t become too painful.
Hope you all enjoy some sunshine and wishing all a good day.

dragonfly46 Fri 19-Jun-26 07:38:34

Good morning from a brightish Leicestershire.

I had a terrible night listening to the dog panting in the heat. At 3.30 I let him out and he stayed the rest of the night. It is very difficult keeping him cool and he just walks round his cool mat.
I will take him out soon while it is still cool.

Pilates this afternoon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Jaxjacky Fri 19-Jun-26 07:36:55

It’ll be watering again tonight, no sign of any rain for the foreseeable, we head into the 30’s from Sunday.

Summer solstice is on Sunday, around 9am BST

Redcar Fri 19-Jun-26 07:29:05

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and 18 degrees outside, so I have the blinds and curtains closed against the sun. It will be a day of opening and closing blinds and windows to try to keep the sun out and air in! I had a disturbed night, no idea why.
After taking the maximum dose of paracetamol yesterday my headache has finally eased but my joints are aching, a side effect of Wednesday’s infusion.
I’m meeting some friends at Hyde Hall RHS garden this afternoon, no doubt it will be busy.

grandmattie I hope your DS arrives safely later today and that you have an enjoyable time with him while he’s in England.

gelisajams what beautiful photos of the roses!

I hope that those who are struggling for any reason find some relief today.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone. The longest day is this weekend I think? Not sure which day though!

Astitchintime Fri 19-Jun-26 07:26:54

Good morning from the NE Mids. It is a beautiful morning here, the sun is shining and there’s quite a breeze……perfect day for the laundry! I also plan to pick the ripe gooseberries too!
Have a good day one and all!

WhiteSwan63 Fri 19-Jun-26 07:26:28

Good morning from the east coast and we get the cooling sea breeze which is nice.

This morning we are picking up Dad and Stepmum and taking them to Aylesbury to visit my brother and his family. We are staying in a hotel for two nights. We haven’t met two of their new grandchildren so we are bearing gifts. They are lovely hosts. My dad isn’t confident to drive on motorways anymore and it’s a long way. We will need to stop a few times for him to stretch his legs.

RosesandLilac your DH was very brave to tackle the wasp nest. My DH has to carry an EpiPen against wasp stings. He runs a mile when a wasp is in his vicinity. Your shed retreat sounds so lovely and a real haven.

Wishing a lovely day to everyone hope you can keep cool. 🌼

karmalady Fri 19-Jun-26 07:22:32

Good morning from sunny s somerset

My ds has just left to start on his 14 hour journey back to Aberdeen. We have talked non-stop and I have had a lot of lovely hugs.

I need to get into transition mode, back to living as a single again. I think I will finish clearing up, doing bedding etc then have a coffee and cycle to my allotment, which is my grounding escape place

latedecember1963 Fri 19-Jun-26 07:19:09

Beautiful photos, Gelisajams. 😍

latedecember1963 Fri 19-Jun-26 07:16:05

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Hope you're doing ok, GrandmaC47, that sounded like a nasty fall. 🤕

Bet you're very excited at the prospect of seeing your DS, GrandMattie. Even with the wonders of modern technology helping stay in touch, there's nothing like being in the same room together.

Yesterday the little chap was very good about his hair cut and looks much tidier now.

This morning we'll go to the garden centre to get some plants to supplement the ones I've grown from seed.

Hope your cruise has got off to a good start,*Brook*. 🚢

Have the best day possible. 🌻

Gelisajams Fri 19-Jun-26 07:06:26

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it has rained on and off during the night and the same is promised for today with warmer temperatures.
Wishing a safe journey for your son GMattie enjoy the time spent with him.
We did very little yesterday as we were all tired after our trip, but instead of an early night it was turned midnight before we got into bed. We spent the evening at the emergency vets! Something happened to Crazy Dog on his last walk- he came out of the long grass on the marsh limping , then stopped, but behaved very strangely, running and crouching down, then he was sick before finally going limp. DH carried him to the car where he lay without moving. On bringing him home we shot off to the emergency vet who thinks he may have been stung by a bee. We were in the vets over 3 hours as she was looking after two other very poorly dogs at the same time. By the time we left following his anti sickness jab and armed with anti histamines, he was coming round thankfully. He didn’t settle during the night though, needing trips to the garden to toilet. Just what we needed - a broken night!
Today will be another lazy one before DH goes off for a blood test.
I’ll attempt to post some pics from David Austin’s garden and one of my new favourite rose ( are you listening Santa?)
Take care everyone 🌸
