It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Good news neine worth getting checked, enjoy the rest of your stay.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. DH appeased ...it's a broken a rib but lung hasn't collapsed. ( I didn't think it had to be honest). Only worry if breathlessness gets worse ( it won't...I have a meaningful discussion with my lung and told it under no circumstances is it to collapse or cause any further problems). It will up to 6 weeks to heal and keep taking regular pain relief.....typical...I had only just stopped taking them for my hip which whisper it....is not hurting. The sun is out and the wind has dropped a bit too....The awning has stayed up which considering I carried on helping to get it up after the fall is a bit of a miracle but having said that DH is in his element wielding a mallet. DF is coming down to stay at the cottage next week and will be there when we get back...I think I might tell her to bring her passport....I feel the need for an all inclusive coming on.

Welcome to the world of public transport "corner". I really miss my car but the Attendance Allowance easily pays for minicabs as I am not gadding about on a daily basis. It is a year since I surrendered my licence, and it feels like yesterday. I am restricted because minicabs are very expensive but IU survive.

I haven't felt the need to switch the heating on in the morning and until my wounds are healed, showers are a distant memory.

Look after yourselves.

Thank you all for your kind messages. I feel fine now, quite pleased with myself for coping. We won’t know exactly what’s wrong and the cost until next Friday at the earliest. Until then it’s work out now life can go on via public transport. Off to collect an order from Next tomorrow. Usually it’s 12 minutes in the car. Two buses, a circular route, it’s at least an hour and a half each way. In a way it will be good for us as we will just have to go more slowly, no rushing about.

A decent, stress free day today. Volunteering this morning, my co volunteer kindly collected me. Salmon stir fry for lunch, a wander to the corner of the road to collect prescriptions and some milk, a lot of time reading my book while Mr C had a nap. A phone chat with both sons this evening.

Our heating was on for a while this morning Charley, couldn't face the shower in a cold bathroom.

How super you get to see the house utbb, it’s good to hear you’re included.

I’d be in a tizz too redcar, always am if anyone is foolish enough to risk my catering. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the day when it comes, a lot of catching up to do.

I couldn’t keep up the pace you do grannyg, good luck for the next visit.

Please look after yourself neine, your wellbeing is worth fighting the crowds for.

Time for sleep here. Goodnight everyone, sleep tight.

I met a friend for coffee today, very pleasant. A trip to the small Lidl next door and then treated myself to a taxi.

I switched the heating on this evening for a couple of hours and it will help dry the washing. I have been using a hwb for nights. Is it June or January?

Castle25 Fri 12-Jun-26 22:59:13

Thanks for a your kind thoughts. Just heard that Dd has arrived home after 2 long flights and a long layover in Dubai. One of her cats seemed uninterested to see her. Back to normal today. Went to get brows and lashes tinted and realised later we were too busy chatting I forgot to pay. A very embarrassed text followed. I love a glass of cremant llfl. naughtyneine I hope there is no serious damage.

Redcar Fri 12-Jun-26 22:46:48

cornergran what a horrible thing to happen, I hope the repairs to your car aren’t ruinously expensive.
utbb how nice to be able to see the house your DGD and her partner are buying.
castle goodbyes are always sad aren’t they. I hope it won’t be too long before your DD visits again.
I had a pottering sort of day, and didn’t achieve much. I had my hair coloured and cut this afternoon which was relaxing.
My cousin completely threw me this evening by asking if he and his wife could call in later next week on their way home from a short break in Norfolk. I haven’t seen them since 2017! We only communicate via text at Christmas and birthdays! Obviously I said they could come, but am now in a tizzy about their visit. I don’t often have visitors these days apart from my DDs and my niece. It will be good to see them, he’s ex navy and great fun!
Night night everyone, sleep well.

GrannySomerset Fri 12-Jun-26 19:12:44

Oh Corner, I felt your pain and embarrassment and hope the car isn’t bankruptingly expensive to put right. My car costs me a fortune and spends most of its live sitting on the drive, but as I am in a village I am not sure Uber is the answer, though I could use them a lot for what the car costs to run - my insurance virtually doubled once I hit 80. Think I should I investigate.

Have had a busy day, including an afternoon’s bridge and am now contemplating what to have for supper. Meals for one are really of no interest.

brook2704 Fri 12-Jun-26 19:11:17

I hope you’ve had chance to see the house your DGD and her boyfriend are buying uttb how lovely to be included by them both, thdy sound like such a lovely couple.
I’m hoping all is ok neine with no major damage done, but good to get checked out
Phew GG take a breather now before it all starts again tomorrow!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 12-Jun-26 16:32:03

Hope you haven’t done anything serious naughtyneine
We have the house to ourselves, one lot of GC have just left, next two arrive at 8am tomorrow.

I have had a shower, currently collapsed on the bed trying to work up the energy to get my glam on to go out to dinner with DH

Naughtyneine Fri 12-Jun-26 16:10:28

Just at the Cottage Hospital..I poked my head in at A and E in Withybush and it said waiting time 5 and a half hours sobI bought a wheat bag in Home Bargains instead. DH wasn't convinced...he's not bothered by me burping just worried only come on since I fell. I'd rather be with you LLFL, Cremant de Loire is one of my favourites.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 12-Jun-26 12:59:34

Younger son is always late! He lives in London too.
I’m enjoying a glass of Cremant and nibbling bread and butter while I wait.

Nannytopsy Fri 12-Jun-26 11:59:05

Well done Corner for getting sorted. Some people( young men perhaps?) can be idiots!
DD et al arriving shortly - I need to crack on with the cooking.
It’s stopped raining!

teabagwoman Fri 12-Jun-26 11:36:16

Thank you all for such a warm welcome. I’m just having a sit down in the corner of my kitchen after taking in my Tesco delivery. The delivery people used to be quite chatty but the recent ones are quite taciturn and can’t get out of the house quick enough.

Granmarie, that must have been a very difficult day for you. Neine have you had yourself checked over, you really should you know?

Castle I hope you’ve got some treats lined up after seeing your dd off.

And Cornergran what a horrible experience and congratulations on managing to climb in and out of that cab.

Now I must summon up some more energy and do a bit of clearing out.

Grandmabatty Fri 12-Jun-26 09:18:33

Cornergran I've just caught up with your news. What a horrible experience for you. Castle šŸ’

Jaxjacky Fri 12-Jun-26 09:17:19

Last sentence for Castle!

Jaxjacky Fri 12-Jun-26 09:16:39

Blimey corner what an horrendous experience, fingers crossed it won’t be too expensive šŸ¤ž
Lovely news utbb all settling down, how comforting.
I’m sure your goodbyes don’t get any easier.

Charleygirl5 Fri 12-Jun-26 09:06:45

corner I am so sorry to hear about that awful experience, I was surprised to read that DH wasn't with you. It is very frustrating when some idiots treat you as though you stopped at traffic lights for a picnic.

Hopefully insurance will pay for the parts etc, but that means it will shoot up next year and as you are no longer 21 your age will also be considered.

It is almost a year since O surrendered my licience and I really miss my car.

kittylester Fri 12-Jun-26 07:47:06

Crumbs, corner, what an awful thing to happen. I hope your equilibrium has been restored. So glad it wasn't worse than it was.

Neine, a check over would sound in order.

UTBB we need to hear all about the house. Lovely for your DGS to be getting settled.

A sad day here today DD left for home . We were all very brave at the airport, we’re used to these drop offs now she’s lived away for nearly 15 years. It was a busy start to the week as had DGD Monday Tuesday and Wednesday while DD was here. Quite tiring but she makes us so happy. I retired to bed after the airport run.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 11-Jun-26 22:54:30

I’m sorry to hear of the trials and tribulations some of you have suffered today.
I hope things get better as days go by.

I have had a good day my GS has brought his GF to see me.
I hadn’t met her yet as she lives in Surrey and he lives in W Sussex, so it was a double pleasure as I haven’t seen him for over a year.
He has had sone serious health problems since he was 12 which carried on into MH problems but he seems to be coming out of them and R is a lovely girl, they are very happy together, it was lovely to see.
We have been to Zizzis for a quick meal and I left them to go and register at the local Premier Inn where they are staying until Sunday.
Tomorrow after spending time with them again I am being taken to view the house my GD and her BF are in the process of buying.
I am so happy to see some of my GC settling so happily.

It is raining again here and chilly, heating has been on, I hope the weekend brings some good times and some happiness for you all.

ā€˜Evening All’

šŸ‘‹ grandMattie!
And a warm welcome to you teabagwoman good to have you join us.

GrandmaC47 I can sense your excitement from here! Hope you all have a great family takeaway with many more to come.

Grandmabatty I love hearing about your wee boys! And neine that injury sounds very debilitating. Maybe get checked out (lungs more than ribs).

I hope dear Blossoming is reading this evening. I know we all hope to have you return to this special haven once you’re feeling well enough again.

cornergran that was too much excitement in one day. I hope your car gets mended soon and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I love to read how close you and your husband are. Nowt wrong with being ā€˜daft’.

I’ve had a good day overall. A friend had to cancel coffee this morning so that’s now tomorrow. I cleaned the wooden blinds in the bedroom instead. Don’t faint. It was wonderfully satisfying to remove the dust with copious surface wipes and watch them turn grey…. 😮

dragonfly46 Thu 11-Jun-26 21:30:43

How awful for you Corner pleased you got home safely.
Hope you haven’t broken a rib * neine*.
Welcome Teabaglady.;

brook2704 Thu 11-Jun-26 21:23:55

Oh my goodness cornergran what an awful experience for you. Well done for getting through it and please don’t feel guilty,I’d have been so stressed out! I hope the garage can do the repairs quickly or provide a hire car or something and the cost isn’t excessive šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø
