In answer to Magenta 8 , I belong to a facebook group called Random Acts of Kindness (which started in America)
We make small toys ,called Izzie dolls (from the original pattern maker) and teddies with a note in . We leave them for people to find or give them to parents for their children.
It’s lovely to make people smile instead of frown!

Yes, we are an army of grandma knitters, aren't we?

I do this too, but began with the trauma teddies group which makes similar for fire stations.

I did a project last year at the request of a lady who was sending a lorry to Ukraine. Instead of packing the medical equipment in normal packing, she collected Izzy dolls, woolly hats and scarves, so the "packing" would not be wasted on arrival.
Now I am busy making items for Wood Green.

My efforts for hats for the NICU were not the quality I liked and this is quite popular, so I leave that to the better knitters.

I saw that last night and thought how much joy she had given to all those children who found the little gifts. A really lovely idea.

What a lovely story. Knitting seems to bring out the best in people.

I know we have at least one olympic gold standard knitter on GN and they put their skill to very good use to help children.

I don't want to make these thread setious but there is something so important about interaction between older people and children.

Just watched the news (don’t normally bother!)

Saw a lovely piece about a Granny who took up knitting to combat anxiety and loneliness and knits the most beautiful little toys, she pops in in a zippy sandwich bag, along with a lovely handwritten note, and her grandson hides them around the village.

Today ), having tracked her down and discovering her 90th birthday is imminent, gave her birthday party and some of the children who have found her lovely knitted gifts around the village, brought both the knitted gifts along with gifts for Granny H and there was a big birthday cake!

Such a truly lovely and heartwarming story. It made my heart sing and brought a tear to my eye. flowers
