Good morning all from a cool cloudy Morecambe Bay where weather normality is resumed.
Our deliberations yesterday got us nowhere, and we ended up doing our usual walk in the woods and having a lazy day. Today may be similar although we must make a start putting everything back. We tried yesterday but following a light hearted argument as to where the shoe rack was- I denied moving it as did DH. It turned out to be in my shed! Oops.
What a shock Bella I hope there are no casualties. I wish fireworks could be banned. I hate the things ever since we had a nasty accident with fireworks when I was a child. We had the bonfire in a friends garden and my dad had been given a large plastic bag of fireworks by someone as a thank you. It was on the side waiting to be used when a spark from another firework set the lot off. There were rip taps chasing us and aeroplanes flying at us . We all just huggled together terrified until it burnt itself out.
Safe journey Ash you can do this!
Thinking of all with troubles. Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning everyone and happy White Rabbits Day from a brightish Northampton, a bit of sunshine about but it will not last and we shall see rain later.

Yesterday morning I walked to the paper shop to settle my bill before my surgery tomorrow - I do not like owing money and have paid in advance to the end of June. Had a sausage butty when I got home, then changed into shorts and t-shirt ready to tackle the last bit of weeding. Although it is like the Forth Bridge, never finished and I really need to go back to the beginning and start all over again.

I then cut the back grass again, trimmed the edges then cut back my massive vine before it surrounds the pergola like Sleeping Beauty's castle, making sure to leave plenty of shoots with baby grapes 🍇 on them. Then watered the pots by the front door, and just as I was doing that, Amazon arrived, delivering the new griddle pan I had ordered.

Luckily I had planned steak for dinner.so was able to wash it and then try it out. A big thumbs up from me!
I had had this brand before but after about 10 years of use the handle fell off, my fault as I had dropped it!
I then bought a cheap one from Sainsburys but hated it as everything stuck in it, so decided to splash out and go back to the old trusty brand. Glad I did.

I need to make up DD's bed for tonight as she is staying over before taking me for my very early surgery tomorrow. And then make sure the cats' litter tray is cleaned out and fresh.

Then I am going out to lunch with friends who will arrive about 12.45 to pick me up and go to a nice country pub.

What a shock for you this morning Bellasnana, hoping there are not too many casualties.

Safe journey back Ash.

Hope.your CT scan goes ok Roses.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Safe travels Ashcombe. I drove to the Netherlands a couple of years ago and despite having lived there I still found it a challenge.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. We’re forecast rain although just now it doesn't look like it.

I’ll be sorting our cupboard of doom this morning before tackling some ironing. . Mr C plans to water the pots - then it will rain 😊 - before tackling the spiders in the conservatory. An open window sends an invitation to join us it seems. We may wander out this afternoon, see how we feel after lunch, and easy jacket potato with prawns and a salad, prawns are high on my favourite list, potato less so.

Understand the nerves grandmattie. I’m sure it will all go well, it’s a good place to meet and everyone will be there because they want to be.

Hope today is as smooth as it can be roses.

Safe and trouble free drive back ash, it’s a long one alone.

Have the best day you can everyone, look after yourselves.

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. We are planning a few hours at our favourite garden today. I also have more books to get rid of. A friend contacted me yesterday to say she has broken her wrist after falling over whilst watering the garden. Will arrange to visit asap.
All the best for your hospital visit R&L
Safe journey Ash

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire although rain is forecast.

Gardener coming this morning. I have added some pictures of my garden as Grammaretto requested.
Nothing much planned today except getting ready for the trip away this week.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grammaretto Mon 01-Jun-26 07:53:18

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Overcast but mild.

I slept much better than usual and will go to my exercise class this morning and then take a car load of unwanted stuff to the tip and charity shop.
Two of my DS phoned me, one rather sentimental about the family home up for sale! The other warning me against buying one I have my eye on. 😕

I will phone the estate agent and see what if anything is happening with my house sale.

My friends came to help with sorting books and papers for most of yesterday.
The "expert" found at least one valuable first edition which had been my mother's.
I wonder what she'd have thought 🤔

How shocking Bellasnanna!. I hope no-one was killed.

Safe voyage .Ash

Your holiday sounds great brook

Hope the CT scan goes well and quickly R&L

Have a good day everyone. It's Flaming June!

EkwaNimitee Mon 01-Jun-26 07:49:39

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle. At least I won't need to go out watering plants, A job I don't like.

Yesterday's gloomy mood was gradually lifted by tackling a list of boring chores, bizarre isn't it?! But that's me. I certainly felt back to normal after getting outside and finishing the scarifying of the front lawn. What a lot of moss came off, that's a wet winter for you.

Today is bed linen changing and probably some vacuuming and bathroom cleaning. I've a very slow draining sink to tackle in the ensuite. It's a constant problem of black slime build up, something I never encountered anywhere else in all my decades of sink cleaning. Nothing prevents it. Today I will be reluctantly resorting to an enzyme cleaner.
After lunch, I'm hoping for some reading time but it could be dozing time as I've had a poor night's sleep.

Good luck Rosesandlilac, I wish you better results than you might be fearing.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Jun-26 07:46:39

Morning from a bright S Hants, 15, rain due early evening, of course it is, I’m having my car valeted!
Enjoy the rail trip brook, Gozo llfl and safe travels home Ashcombe.
Hope your scan is speedy R&L with no surprises.
Welcome back multi 👋
Voluntary phone today, then as I said, my car is being cleaned here, easy oven f&c tonight.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry and breezy at the moment with rain forecast.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes for DH yesterday. We had a lovely day.The weather was kind and the three cousins were very happy to be together. Our little Staffordshire grandson was very upset going home as he won’t see his cousins until their camping trip in July now.Our lovely SIL fitted a new light fitting in the utility room for us which has saved us having to get an electrician in.

Today we are off to Staffordshire to collect DGS1 from school.

Safe travels Ash.I think you are amazing. From being so unwell to driving home from France alone💪My daughters would call you a warrior woman!

How awful and such a shock Bellasnana.

Thinking of Pantglas, madeleine and all our absent friends 🙏🏻💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩

GrannyGravy13 Mon 01-Jun-26 07:41:08

I am off to York in the next 30 minutes, I need to get a wriggle on.

Will catch up later 🙋‍♀️

Usedtobeblonde Mon 01-Jun-26 07:28:35

Sorry for the fat finger today.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 01-Jun-26 07:27:40

Good morning from Stockport.
I haven’t looked out so can’t report on the weather, just that it is cooler in the house and pleasant.
I did go out fit the meal with my family to friends of theirs and enjoyed it but ax ai knew would happen I was very tired and wanted to leave about half an hour before we did which results in me getting jiggly.
However I am pleased tobe included and the food was lovely.

My runner yesterday did very well , he did the half marathon in 1 hour 44 minutes which is good.
He came somewhere in the low 2000’s which out of 40,000 was very respectable.

I have no plans for today will see how the day unfolds.

I send prayers for those involved in the disaster in Malta, a shock indeed for you Bellasnana.

To you all a pleasant day, enjoy if you can.

HelterSkelter1 Mon 01-Jun-26 07:27:09

Good Morning from a cool N Surrey. We must have had rain in the night.

I too very much miss Madeleine's interesting and wise posts.

I will continue raking amd sweeping today after cutting the grass yesterday. It is so dry and crispy.but at least looks tidier.

Good luck to those with hospital appointments and health problems.

Gingster Mon 01-Jun-26 07:21:53

Good luck Rosesandlilac for todays scan 🙏

Gingster Mon 01-Jun-26 07:20:12

Good morning all and it’s blessedly cooler and the sun is shining.

Yesterday we went to DS1’s for coffee and pastries. Sat in the garden and DIL’s parents popped in to say hello. They’re a nice couple so had a chatty time with them.
One gd came down sleepy eyed but we didn’t see the other one. They’d been out the night before and had a good 10 hours sleep. Oh to be young with no responsibilities to keep you awake in the small hours.

I might go to the U3A AGM this afternoon as we have to pay up for a trip in July. I don’t really want to go, and hope my friend goes along and pays up for me. I’ve a busy week ahead and can do with ‘at home’ jobs today.,

Safe journey home Ash.
What a shock you had Bellas.
Your holiday sounds wonderful Brooke.

Take care everyone and enjoy the cooler weather. 🌺

GrandmaC47 Mon 01-Jun-26 07:17:22

Safe journey Ash 👋 welcome back Multi. I too miss Madeline. Just awaiting arrival of our two granddogs for three days, as half term is over.

Redcar Mon 01-Jun-26 07:15:40

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Hazy sunshine this morning and a breezy day is forecast. We are forecast rain for this evening and overnight, much needed as the garden is very dry.
I need to go shopping today but can’t decide whether to go into town where I could get everything I need, or just go to the local farm shop and get the rest online! I need to get back into my routine of walking most days, I abandoned it last week because it was too hot.
safe journey today ashcombe, I hope the roads are nice and quiet for you.

bellasnana what a shock to be woken by an explosion, I hope there aren’t too many casualties.

I hope that those who are struggling for whatever reason find some relief today.

Have the best day possible everyone - June already, this year is going so quickly.

Marzipan22 Mon 01-Jun-26 07:07:56

Good morning from a cooler, nicely damp Cornwall. Yesterday I had a good pottering day on my patio because it was nice and cloudy, and enjoyed the Merlin birdsong app I discovered from Gransnet. I can finally identify the song of a chaffinch after all these years.

Today I'm planning a jaunt; St Ives probably, as it's my favourite place. My son won the final bid for my dad's painting and I'll collect it from the auction house next week. He'll put it up in his office at home.

What a shock Bellasnana! There are videos online. The Internet is truly world-shrinking.

Drive well Ash. 🥰

multicolourswapshop Mon 01-Jun-26 07:00:10

Good morning all from a wet start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve taken a long rest from Gransnet but I’m back.

Im having a covid injection today as it seems they’re being offered to vulnerable people twice a yr now I think our NHS is still the best in the world trying it’s best to keep our older folks safe from covid and flu - for what it’s worth that’s my opinion
Take care my friends you know who you are 👍👍

karmalady Mon 01-Jun-26 06:58:39

Good morning from s somerset, welcome rain is coming later

My back door handle was floppy last night, I have unscrewed it this morning and propped the door slightly open this morning. The spring mechanism on one side has a broken mechanism. I am dressed and ready to go, the fitters are open at 8 and will be able to provide me with another handle. I will be taking the original with me as I have no idea what measurements are needed

Sigh, house maintenance never ends and that reminds me, I need to buy more silicone spray to do all the hinges, locks and sliders on every door and window. Its a job I dislike but I will get it done this week

All this after a lovely day yesterday, cycling, allotment and strawberries. I did some spinning outside while the washing dried. During the evening I watched a lovely film called Good morning Miss Dove, on youtube. I needed to make a very big effort to stay awake until bedtime, I fell into a nap a few days ago, 53 minutes and I was incredibly groggy afterwards, not nice and I don`t want to repeat that

I have a big item being delivered today and need to be back home asap

NannyJan53 Mon 01-Jun-26 06:54:15

Good morning from a cooler and cloudy Black Country.

Visited MrJs DD in Hospital, she was sitting out of bed now and in better spirits. She cannot bear weight on the leg though for at least 8 weeks!

Coming home on the train, changing at New Street Station, I was approached by a woman, who I vaguely recognised. It was my old neighbour from the last house, who I last saw in 2012! Took me a while to compute who she was. I was surprised she and her DH recognised me. When I moved in there in 2003, she was a young Mum with 2 small girls, now those girls are in their early 20's!

Line Dancing today with my friend.

What a shock Bellas, hoping there are no casualties.

Wishing you all the best day possible
