Well that’s just you Lemonjam isn’t it?Your first paragraph that is.
I’ve never treated any politicians like gods either come to that, but the adoring Sturgeon fans in Scotland have in the past, every thing she did or said were greeted with rapture.
She certainly tried her best to give the impression that Scotland would collapse is she and DH weren’t a the helm.Yes my post, was my view Oreo, which is usually the case for all posters 😊. You and I both have never treated politicians as gods and I doubt many do.
Nicola Sturgeon was in fact a highly polarising figure, fiercely adored by supporters but also strongly opposed by her critics. Not usual in politics.
When she resigned as SNP leader early 2023 she said it was the right time for her to go, the right time for the SNP party and the right time for country to her to resign. She said she was 'burned out and a new leader with fresh energy was needed'.
Political commentators may have suggested her resignation might lead to instability or throw SNP into disarray but it certainly wasn't Sturgeon who said that or gave that impression.
You seemingly don't like her, as many didn't/still don't- she was/is highly polarising. But I still think the person accountability for his embezzlement criminality is Burrell not Sturgeon.Of course our opinions are our own but you seemed to suggest that as you personally didn’t almost deify Sturgeon and DH that nobody probably would.
I neither like or dislike her on a personal level but disliked her as a politician very much.Whilst saying constantly how the SNP was the only Party who could manage things there, and usually failing on that in most areas she managed to twist and turn the failures in a breathtaking way so it appeared they were doing really well.
Putting herself in front of the cameras on tv every day during the pandemic years even when there was nothing much to say was a masterpiece of Eva Peron style crowd control. She was very divisive around the independence referendums which caused a heap of trouble in many places there, neighbour against neighbour and if she’d got independence what a hash the SNP would have made of it.
Btw I agree that Burrell is accountable for embezzlement but it was only right that Sturgeon was quizzed about it as well.
I'm not sure how you personally define deification of a political and simply stand by my comment "Nicola Sturgeon was in fact a highly polarising figure, fiercely adored by supporters but also strongly opposed by her critics. Not usual in politics".
Everything else you say in your post demonstrates your view and thus how polarising she was.
We're in agreement at least that Burrell is accountable for his embezzlement criminality and that it was right Sturgeon was also subjected to police investigation also.
Clearly the police investigation did not find evidence to charge Sturgeon with embezzlement or any other criminal wrong doing. Thats is, it was also an available option to the Police Scotland to charge her with Misconduct in Public Office if they found evidence of that as they pored over SNP accounts and their management.

I agree she didn’t commit the crimes but she threw obstacles in the way of her husband’s behaviour being exposed, and let’s remember, this embezzlement wasn’t a one-off impulse, he went on a twelve year spending spree.
