What are you avoiding doing in this heat?

I watered the garden early, took 45 minutes front & back. But the dog didn't get up till 9, so just off to take him a walk somewhere shady before it gets any hotter.
I like the heat but it doesn't like me - I have aching legs, streaming eyes & fatigue the last 3 days.

I’m not avoiding doing things, I’m getting up earlier so I can do them speedily before it gets too warm. I’ve been on the go all morning, I took the dog to daycare, then I’ve been out to buy a fan, did the food shopping, washed and hung it out, been in the garden to weed and water, and I’ve dusted and vacuumed downstairs. I am so enjoying my coffee now, I feel that I deserve it. This afternoon I’m going to lie in the shade doing very little, then a barbecue tonight which I’m not cooking.

I got up at 6.00 to get ahead while it was cooler.
I made bread, bottled up more elderflower cordial and had a tidy round.

I am cooking supper and doing an hours gardening and that is it.

Avoiding as much as I can! grin I intend to sit in the garden in the shade of the sun parasol, pop on my headphones and listen to music while reading my Kindle.
PS: It's worth pointing out to anyone who may take antidepressants, particularly SSRIs, SNRIs, and tricyclics, that these can affect your body's ability to tolerate heat. I didn't know this until a couple of years ago, and when I read it, it immediately made sense. So just be aware - and of course, stay well hydrated!

I have actually cleaned out the porch so I can put back the mat I washed yesterday. Lethargically mopped the kitchen floor, then sat down with a cuppa. No more housework today.

Watered the garden first thing.

I’ve hung out two loads of washing earlier, and will iron later.

I’ve cleaned the kitchen and dining room.

Finished my library book whilst waiting for the floors to dry.

I intend to sit in the shade later with my next library book.

What am I avoiding ? Any more gardening . No ironing.

I watered the garden at 8.30, but although I still have three plants waiting to be planted, I had already run out of energy.
So I came indoors and sat down after feebly attempting some chores. It's just too hot.

Set to reach 30c here in the South Coast.

Changed the bed, put on to wash, did some watering and shall do very little today, apart from hanging out the washing and preparing food.

Was sat in the shade in the garden, but it got too hot, so now in the sitting room.

Going out this afternoon to a neighbour’s house - garden, actually for a catch-up - about 6 of us. It was meant to be a ladies’ only , but a couple of the men are tagging along. Some people do not read the WhatsApp messages. It was said very clearly LADIES. Oh well 😫

Its now 29 here and will reach 33 today and tomorrow. 5.00 am is the best time to be outside. Perfect then in the garden.
So indoors now and a very gentle day planned of nothing.

Usual things,of doors and windows closed and curtains drawn on the sunny side.. we face south.
And its still only May!
Keep sun safe all those in hot areas. Dont take any risks it will be cooler again next week. It looks like some areas have a lovely 24 deg or so. Bliss.

Great excuse to avoid housework. I am comfortable couched with a cold drink and on Gransnet for now. My cat doesn’t know what to do with himself.

I’m not doing much, I’m looking after my daughter’s dog while they’ve gone to a beach and as my garden isn’t dog proof, we’re both indoors.
The dog is asleep on the laminate floor in the dining room and I’m pottering about doing all sorts of odd things!

Absolutely nothing except hang the washing out.

My phone has emigrated as it reads 14C whereas it is 24 degrees in London and rising.

I will unload the Sainsbury's goodies with the driver watching me. It should arrive soon so something decent for tonight's supper.

I love every minute of the sunshine. I Spent the night in my tent in a friend’s garden it was glorious to wake up surrounded by country sounds. I was meant to be staying in my camper van but a flat battery prevented the vans first outing this year.
May the sun shine all summer.

I was in the garden at 8.00am and did an hours gardening. The temperature when i started was a pleasant 18 degrees. It is now nearer 10 degrees higher and I am inside having a sit down and a cool drink.

I will potter around for the rest of the day, a bit of cleaning, and then contemplate starting to make the living room curtains

Really lucky as I have shade in some part of the garden all day so I just move around. I don’t go for my walk in the heat I went at 7am this morning and it was really nice and cool. Today my book and bottle of water that’s all I’ll be doing most of the day.

Cabbie21 Mon 25-May-26 10:05:28

I like sunny days but the heat saps my energy.
I can’t do anything energetic for more than 20 minutes.
I have watered the plants but am not going outside until there is some shade. The housework will have to wait. I have no plans for today but will try to tick some admin jobs off my list.
