What are you avoiding doing in this heat?

I like sunny days but the heat saps my energy.
I can’t do anything energetic for more than 20 minutes.
I have watered the plants but am not going outside until there is some shade. The housework will have to wait. I have no plans for today but will try to tick some admin jobs off my list.

I like it being this hot.

Its like having permission to have a holiday from all the Usual Stuff guilt free.

I do have to water the tender plants in the evening tho, but one picks up and is livelier.

Resting, drinking lots of water, wearing linen loose fitting dresses, prepared a chicken salad for later. Watered plants at 7.00 am. Not much going on while it’s this hot but I adjust my days to suit.

Avoiding everything! But today I went out at 8.30!with my son in an air con car into a air on Waitrose - bliss to buy a few things that “was not available” in my Ocado delivery. We have a big birthday week here over half term twins GC ,GS and DiL. We are all getting together for a BBQ (sons doing it) and I’m providing cake (bought) and strawberries. Can’t bear to have the oven on . So that’s it for the day now indoors with a fan and closed blinds as I am actually finding this heat quite difficult. Maybe it’s because I was still wearing a jumper this time last week in foggy Cornwall …

I've just hoovered and done a bit of washing up. Domestic goddess here 😂

Now relaxing as its 31° and then I'll do some lunch.

I'm avoiding everything and watching Montalbano and pottering now and then. IN an out of GN a bit. A siesta, later

Last evening I went to the park for a walk at 5.30 and will do the same today. Had a lot of strain recently and resulting fatigue and this really hot weather just makes my brain a mush which suits just fine.

REKA Tue 26-May-26 11:54:28

I've fed the birds and that's about it for today

loopyloo Tue 26-May-26 11:52:40

Almost everything except drinking loads of water!!

Aldom Tue 26-May-26 11:51:12

I watered the garden yesterday, early morning and again last evening as I had been away for three days. So at the moment I'm relaxing under the cantilever parasol, reading and keeping hydrated. I cooked salmon and made enough potato salad for two days, so no cooking tonight.

Wearing a bra! At least around the house - fortunately I was never well-endowed so no big deal.

Unless going out, I just wear 2 long, loose, pure cotton dresses bought in a heatwave a few years ago.

They are of a sort of big seersucker material IYKWIM - TBH they are a bit sack-of-potatoes-ish, but who cares? And hallelujah, they don’t even need ironing! - I just hang them up to dry.

I do things at the end of the day and do things slowly during the day. I need to get my walk in though so will probably go at 8 p.m. Had a dreadful night last night as the heat collects at the back of our house where we sleep. Will watch a film this afternoon and perhaps carry on painting my picture.

Don’t fare well in this weather would have preferred to do as little as possible but family descended, am now completely shattered, just had a nearly cold shower, London is really sizzling 🥵
And have tried everything to make the bedroom cooler, but is like a furnace.
DH sleeps downstairs due to disabilities and his bedroom is not bad, I slept on a bed topper in his room last night with no duvet just a sheet, will probs do the same tonight.

And a packet of crisps

Have been indoors all day avoiding the 33 deg heat and just looking forward to sunset and opening the back doors and giving everything a good water. I may have a Zero Guiness at the same time. Need to pop a couple in the fridge.

I seem to be giving everything a body swerve today wink grin

I worked for half an hour in the school library then came home and hung out a washing. The rest of the day I have rested, did some Spanish and read. I have stayed out of the sun

I’ve done very little today. Went out early to buy some new line for my ancient strimmer, spent a ridiculous amount of time getting it to work and then thought “really can’t be bothered!” Did some laundry, made a big jug of iced tea and wrote half a poem which I probably won’t finish. Will shortly prepare a cottage cheese salad for tea and then when it has cooled down, water the garden.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-26 16:03:35

I need to put washing out on the line.
I know I'll regret it if i don't.

I have to lift my dog onto the shady side of the road and avoid the hot pavement.. She refuses to wee in the garden and I worry about bladder infections! She has a quick wee and then home again. I feel as though I have to explain to every passer by that Im not a cruel dog owner1

Frenchgalinspain Mon 25-May-26 15:07:49

Up at 8.30am .. Fast shower .. Dressed and off to pick up some fresh veggies and then stop for a café on ice and a tostada with extra virgin olive oil / salt and crushed fresh red tomato.

Then did my walk and home sweet home ..

Whitewavemark2 Mon 25-May-26 14:58:52

Hung some washing out and the sun was absolutely searing - so the rest will have to wait until later.

Cabbie21 Mon 25-May-26 14:49:05

Nothing active this afternoon, though I achieved quite a few things this morning- not too taxing.
I have just ordered a new i-pad. Mine is old and slow. The battery drains fast, so I am looking forward to collecting that tomorrow.

cornergran Mon 25-May-26 14:39:22

As so many of you are I’m avoiding the ironing although it definitely needs doing.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 25-May-26 14:37:14

My autistic GS , 17 today, has just gone to the local shop wearing a black quilted jacket.
We are going out for a family meal early evening, it will be quite a battle to persuade him to leave it off.
