Yes finally a period of decent weather!
Today is the shop and cleaning downstairs and some gardening.
Tomorrow is upstairs and gardening and Saturday is enjoying the garden with my book after an hour or two of weeding and planting.
I cannot wait to sit outside, eat outside and wear shorts, I am so excited!
Are you planning on a weekend outdoors?

I hate the smell of barbecues.
I wish other people would keep the smell to themselves!!

For me what's worse is one neighbour also has a wood pellet pizza oven and the smoke smell can be awful. I don't mind when I can get the washing in before he lights it, but even then we have to close the doors and windows because otherwise the smell permeates the house. I'd be even happier if he could look, see I've got a line full of laundry and just give me a knock so I can bring it in.

I've had a melanoma removed, so I won't be going anywhere near the sun in the middle of the day - even then, I'll be smothered in high factor cream.

Totally prepared, I was a summer baby born on a sweltering hot day, I adore the heat and sun 🌞🌞🌞

DH has spring cleaned the BBQ, jet washed the patios and furniture, spa pool is ready to use, what’s not to love 🤷‍♀️

I was born in the midst of winter but I do like the sun. Conversely DH has his birthday tomorrow and hates the heat as does my friend who was born on 17th June.

You sound like a very hardworking lady.

DH has his birthday tomorrow. Table booked for 8 outside at an Italian restaurant. I just hope that my gums won't be too sore. Dentist was supposed to ring me back but didn't.

Not here, blowing a gale and only brightened up a little!

No, I am not because I doubt very much that the weather will be as good as they say. The past few days haven't exactly followed the forecast.

I struggle with the heat and we have a big open air event in the village which I'm supposed to be at so hope it isn't too hot for me. I just read an article about people on certain medication being vulnerable in the heat so mentioned it to my DD. She reminded me that she has lived in Dubai! Typical Nanny State over-reacting to a mini heat wave! Having said that I shall be relaxing under my fan if it gets as warm as the forecast!

granma47 💐. Sorry you have this to go to. Wear layers then you can take them off if it's warm

granma47 Fri 22-May-26 13:51:28

Its my husbands funeral on Tuesday. I'm not sure what to wear and will the crem be cool.

Dylis Fri 22-May-26 13:49:46

Just washed my winter padded jackets. They take forever to dry so hoping a couple of hot days will do the trick.
Also dashed to Aldi to buy some sangria and ice lollies.

It’s beautiful here in Worcestershire, sunny 26 degrees with a warm breeze. Have ordered a fan from Amazon in case it’s warm at night.

Still in a polo neck and big jumper here in Aberdeenshire. Quite windy so good for drying the washing but not good for sitting outside. Hoping for some summery weather but not holding my breath.

I have been a sun lover over the years. Taking much more care now after chemotherapy.

We are forecast 32 deg which will make life a struggle for DH and therefore of course for me with his severe emphysema. Getting the fans out today and pleased I bought a big floor one last yeae.

I have just moved all my lovely potted hydrangeas which are doing so well into a shady part of thr garden close to the outdoor tap. Most of the other pots are heat withstanding plants.

Enjoy the long weekend everyone. After such a long grey chilly wet spring the sun is welcome. Here Comes The .Sun as George Harrison would say. Love that track.i can picture exactly where I was when I first heard it

Bbq food and salads ordered for delivery tomorrow, factor 50 ready. Max of 30 for us next week, we have a chiller unit, blows out cool air into the living room, bliss.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-26 11:21:55

Another with non- melanoma skin cancer - so factor 50, sun hats and sun glasses.

If like my sister with melanoma (in remission🤞🤞) you stay in the shade whilst enjoying the heat. Factor 50 all year around.

Coated?
CLEARED

MawsRosie Thu 21-May-26 11:18:16

With malignant melanoma I won’t be seeing much sun.
Last week on one of those sunny days but with a cold wind, I coated a border of forget me nots and wondered why 2 days later my face felt hot and tight.
Yes, touch of the sun!

henetha Thu 21-May-26 11:15:22

I live in rainy Devon but still managed to have five skin cancers.
My ex partner, who had lived in New Zealand for many years, had them on the tops of his ears.

All be careful, though. I have had a few skin cancers removed from my nose. I don’t sunbathe, this was from walking around everyday without sunscreen. I know the sun is fierce in Australia but I would also say that my mum ,who lived in the UK all her life, also got them on her eyelids because she used to go to sleep in a deckchair in her garden in a London suburb.

Yes, thanks for the reminder. I think we've all got burnt when we were younger and I've noticed many people in Australia seem to have a dressing on head or face where they've had a skin cancer removed, especially men.

Slip, Slap, Slop!

It will be the sudden contrast between the unusually chilly weather we've been experiencing and the heat which will be difficult until we get acclimatised.

Erica23 Thu 21-May-26 10:58:35

Hairdressers tomorrow then call at M & S for some easy meals. I still have a few bedding plants to put in and the DGC fairy garden to tend to, but as they’re coming for a sleep over Saturday we’ll do it together.
Oh and I bought a swinging egg chair about six weeks ago, we’ve only sat in it once so hopefully that’ll get some use now.
I feel ready for some sun but don’t like the heat so hoping it’s not too hot. Enjoy everyone 🌞

I love magnums, Oreo, but only buy the minis in an effort to eat healthy. They are gorgeous.....
