Best of luck latedecember

Best wishes for this afternoon’s meeting latedecember, I love your name by the way.
I just wanted to agree with FGT, we’ve had very mixed weather this spring here in the Algarve, cold, sun, sometimes quite hot, wind, rain, so much rain, but this morning the air felt different and although I’m sure we’ll still have chilly days because of the wind I think that it is set fair until September possibly October.

Good afternoon everyone from a chilly, damp Lancashire.

Late to the party today as we had toddler group this morning.

I can hear the little chap chunnering to his teddies via the monitor. Hopefully he'll settle soon for his nap.

I'm a bit nervous about this afternoon.
We have a meeting here with the social worker and the little chap's parents to formulate a plan for family contact with his parents and older half siblings now we have the SGO.
We offered to have it here to make it less clinical. Things have been pretty amicable so far and we want to try to set the tone for the future.

There are things DH and I aren't happy about, but we have to set those feelings aside because we have to give them the opportunity to have a family connection.

I don't remember any of this in the Mothercare baby handbook 30 odd years ago!

Thank goodness for the Chelsea Flower Show as a bit of escapism in the evening.

All good wishes to you all. 🌻

Thank you FGT. I hope you are on a comfy chair, under a tree, reading a book with a drink nearby

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 20-May-26 12:57:21

Dgs2 got very upset as he cut off a bit of his snake when cutting it out.

I love hearing about your wee boys GrandmaBatty and the way you describe everyday events! 😁

Greyduster Wed 20-May-26 09:41:19

FGT it usually says that to me when I try and post photos from my SLR - too many pixels making up the image. Phone is usually ok.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 20-May-26 09:04:32

Message ‘image too large’ (street view so 🤷‍♀️) won’t upload.
Never mind, another day another try. 😁

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Yesterday was lovely until mid afternoon when the heavens opened. My sister arrived in a taxi and got through the door just seconds before the downpour.
We had tea and cake and I showed her some books my DD and SIL had made for my birthday. They were albums of our three previous holidays.
SIL is travelling back to Brussels today and travelling to Canada with DD at the weekend.
Have a good day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 20-May-26 09:02:06

Good morning everybody from Málaga where our forecast is 28°C sunny with a gentle breeze. I could quite probably write those words from now until the end of October - the switch has been flicked!

I bumped into a friend yesterday on my way up to buzzy Arroyo to meet my LWW. He and his wife have bought a 2 bed apartment just round the corner after selling up in Manchester. They love it here so much they are retired out here now. Anyway he and his wife knew Himself very well over the years and he’s invited me to theirs for dinner in a few days’ time. How wonderful such a nice surprise and someone else I can borrow a cup of sugar from …. 😁

My plans for today:

Supermacado Maxi Dia on the corner for supplies I feel like Old Mother Hubbard

Then sausages on toast and superb café con leche down at Juan’s - who died before Christmas of pancreatic cancer at the age of 52 after major surgery mid 2024. We were all so hopeful for him after that, but sadly not to be. We were all saying yesterday we think we will always refer to place (very popular with the locals) as Juan’s even though he is no longer with us and apparently the business has been sold on to a long standing customer and his family.

Mid afternoon I intend to take my Kindle and a chair down into the gardens, find a place on the grass under a palm tree and blink back some tears behind my sunglasses I expect. Baby steps.

DS is coming in 4 weeks…

grandMattie Wed 20-May-26 09:01:05

I’ve just had a call from DS; he’s home for 5 weeks from Tanzania for the school holiday. Yippee!
The plasterer? Not surprising. There are so very many layers of organisation to go up then down again before anything is done, that nothing surprises me now.
We have clocked this since our completely ineffective manager resigned last June; the natives (well 5-6) are revolting. Watch this space.

Good morning from a rapidly improving Durham, after a very wet afternoon and evening.
The furnishings we’d added to my rental house were successfully carted away by an authorized disposal firm yesterday. I’m re-donating the accessories. It’s now empty and I’ve got the contracts to sign - nearly there!
I’m meeting a friend this morning for coffee, then heading off to see DGS1 perform in his half term concert. As DD1 is joint owner (on paper) of the rental, we’ll sign the forms together and I’ll hand deliver them to our Solicitor later.
I think I’d get my own ‘man’ in gM if that’s allowed.
There seems to be a sudden influx of family illnesses this morning - I hope things improve.
Enjoy that car -Roses and have a good chat to your friend, a nurse? She might have some useful information for you?

Best wishes to all. X

Grandmabatty Wed 20-May-26 08:26:33

Cornergran too much macaroni and not enough cheese sauce. And the sauce was lumpy! Unforgivable. Utbb I'm thinking of you.

WhiteSwan63 Wed 20-May-26 08:24:57

Good morning from the East coast. It’s a dry morning so DH wants to cut the grass. I might do some weeding I’ve noticed some big thistles sticking out among the foxgloves.
We’ve both had a lie in and after breakfast will go in the garden. I’m picking DGS up from school later.

I gave my uncle a little talking to yesterday and just checked the care app and he’s had a decent night with no issues. They have moved his flat around to make room for new aides he’s going to need. They are getting an occupational therapist to assess him. He’s getting on ok with his zimmer frame. I do try to take a lot of the worry off mum with him as she doesn’t drive and he’s an hour away from us so his carers, hospital and office manager contact me most of the time.

Wishing you all a lovely day. 🌼
Thoughts to those with worries and stress 💐

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks damp and I can hear noisy pigeons!

It is the U3A lunch club today which OH has organised. We are meeting in a very old pub very much off the beaten track.

Tonight is WI and there is to be a Ceilidh! I’m not sure if my battered knees will be up to leaping around, but we’ll see.

Thinking of the MaryDs and FGT.

Grammaretto Wed 20-May-26 07:59:07

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's not raining.

After a complaint from me to the council about the state of, and increasing number of, my neighbours' wheelie bins, I had a long telephone conversation with a man from Waste Management who says he's determined to deal with the problem.
At least he agrees that to dole out 3 bins each to a block of flats but with nowhere to put them, is daft and he had to use Google translate to explain to the Chinese restaurant manager that large empty oil cans do not go in the new green paper only bin!

Apart from that I had my podiatrist and Gaelic class.

Today is yarn group and I hope my new baby wool has arrived. Friends of mine are soon to be grannies.

My youngest DGD is 8 and will be singing in Scots and Gaelic in Perth with the Big Sing this Friday.
I don't get to go but her mum will tell me about it.

I like the sound of your new car Rosesandlilac enjoy your lunch out.

Awful maintenance situation gMattie I hope the work gets done.

Nice damp photos from Wigtown/Whithorn Gelisajams

Hoping everyone has some joy today.

cornergran Wed 20-May-26 07:57:57

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. A little milder.

I’m discovering I’m not very good at putting ointment into my eye. Sticky stuff, it either won’t come out of the tube or develops an attraction to my nose. Thankfully the supply is more than adequate and I get there in the end. It aches a bit, not too bad, distraction works well. The blurring disappears quite quickly so today we’re off on the postponed trip over the bridge. There’s no rush, a slow and steady start. I’ll take the wretched ointment with me

I like the sound of your car roses, unlike ours easy to spot in a car park and simple to drive.

Shingles is horrid hollysteers, hope you feel better very soon.

Hope your daughter is comfortable kitty.

Good to know I’m not alone grandmab. My most recent attempt at macaroni cheese is probably my last! Goodness knows what I did but there is no desire to repeat it.

Take care everyone. Have the best day you can.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 20-May-26 07:57:00

Good morning all from Stockport.
It is slightly warmer but still chilly for May.
The forecast is unbelievable for the Bank Holiday weekend, highs of 29 I will believe it when it happens.
I have missed a few mornings, decidedly under par, so any congratulations or commiserations are offered now.
I have a very difficult decision to make and I am putting it off.
I hope today brings some sunshine and comfort for us all.

Liberty Wed 20-May-26 07:56:47

Good morning from a dull but dry Suffolk after welcome rain yesterday.

DH and I really enjoyed ‘ The Choral’ last night. It had been highly recommended by a friend who spent a short time working in West Yorkshire at the start of her career nearly 50 years ago although another friend I saw for coffee yesterday wasn’t very keen on it.

Apart from knowing Alan Bennett had written the script and it was set in Yorkshire and the outline of the story I didn’t know much else about it. From the opening shot I knew it was set in Saltaire which was where, as children,we got the train to go to our favourite place for a day out as children….Shipley Glen. That increased my pleasure in watching it.

I have my monthly meeting today which has a later starting time than usual and should finish mid afternoon so a more leisurely start to the day.

I hope all have a pleasant day with any worries on the decrease.

EkwaNimitee Wed 20-May-26 07:46:05

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, showery Carlisle where it may be brightening up.
Yesterday I collected my prescription in town. Vitamin D has been added to my list of pills and calcium taken off thank goodness. I'd already stopped taking it as my researches had told me that whacking in a high dose of calcium all at once wasn't necessarily a good idea. I don't know why the NHS has also come to that conclusion, the osteoporosis nurse didn't let on.

I got out in the garden in the afternoon and did a bit of weeding, sowed some carrot seeds and murdered 4 snails. I'll be on their case now I know where they like to lurk, they've been after my pea plants.

Today, more laundry and possibly bathroom cleaning and vacuuming. And more tidying up and rearranging my storage. My bedroom looks a lot better now I've removed the large blanket box at the foot of my bed.
Hopefully some gardening after lunch, if not I'll finish my book.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Small art group this morning and catch up with all the news.
Yesterday turned into a good news/bad news day. The good news DGS2 and partner are choosing a venue for a wedding next year. Bad news DSIL was admitted to hospital when his insulin pump didn’t work properly. A restless night here
I hope the plasterer turns up soon gM
Best wishes all round

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton.

Yesterday the rain held off until evening so I was able to get out with my walking group; we had a lovely surprise en route; someone had made the most beautiful and magical fairy garden in the woods that we walk through; trees surrounded by flowers, toadstools, solar lights; little butterflies, models of rabbits, squirrels and birds. Also a fairy grotto big enough to go into, and a proper winding footpath with stepping stones. My photos don't do it justice. It's so kind of whoever made it.

A few things to do around the house this morning, then a Sainsbury's delivery at mid-day. I will have a late lunch/early dinner. Then DS-in-law will pick me up as DD is hosting our ladies' wine club this evening; I will stay there overnight.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

dragonfly46 Wed 20-May-26 07:34:01

Good morning from a brightish Leicestershire.

We are chugging down the motorway to swap the dog over at the services.
I have just remembered I have an Ocado delivery today so DH will stay here or I will leave a note to say leave it behind the side gate.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.
