Beauty treatments- which do you have?

I have hair appointments every six weeks - alternate ones are highlights. I have a pedicure every 6 weeks or so but that is all.

What do you have?

I wonder whether I don't think i am worth the cost and attention or am I just content with myself. What else should I consider?

The occasional professional facial such as after an operation or feeling down. I cut my own hair, do my own nails but use facial serums and moisturisers religiously, mornings and nights.

Hifu facials approx 9 months apart, toe nails when I’m going on holiday, finger nails if special occasion or when going on holiday. Botox and fillers when needed

Yes I've been to the Lighthouse, but it was Feb 2020. I wrote a review on Tripadvisor it was awful. May be better now of course

I have a monthly facial and 6-weekly cut and highlights. Occasional Hifu top ups. Because I’m worth it 😉

Blow dry every week, colour every five weeks. Caci facial one a month, gel nails every three weeks.

Dye my own eyebrows but occasionally go for threading to shape them.

Regular manicure and pedicures (toes and fingers must match year round)

Eyebrow waxing, lash and brow dye every six weeks.

Hair cut and colour every 6-8 weeks

Facial every couple of months.

Oh dear, I really am rather high maintenance…

I do all of this except the pedicure which I just have in summer. Basic maintenance really!

Lupatria Thu 21-May-26 13:58:25

hairdresser every four weeks alternating between colour and cut/blowdry.
nail bar for fingernails (acrylic) every four weeks plus toenails to match fingers about every eight weeks.
chiropodist/podiatrist visit every seven weeks (she comes to me).
my nails and hair are luxuries I won't give up but the chiropodist is to keep my feet checked up on - i'm type 2 diabetic.

Magenta8, my mother offered to pay for one of those tutorial sessions for my 15th birthday present. She thought I was very odd when I politely said No, thanks because, even then, I disliked the feel of cosmetics on my skin. If your experience is anything to judge by, I made the correct decision! 😂

henetha Thu 21-May-26 10:17:01

I don't have anything. But I bought myself a new Maybelline eye pencil yesterday.

HelterSkelter1 When I was a teenager, as a birthday present, my mother paid for me to have an Estee Lauder tutorial and makeup session at Harrods.

The makeup artist remarked at how pale and washed out I looked and how eye makeup needed to be subtle. I came out with a face covered in blusher that looked as though I had been attacked with a blow torch, bright coral pink lipstick, bright blue eye shadow and a smidgeon of brown mascara.grin

Thank you Georgesgran. I zm tempted as I have quite achey feet and legs so perhaps reflexology will help. I am wondering if my new podiatrist does it. I will ask her at my next appointment.
Years ago when I was about 35 I went with a cousin to Joan Prices Face Place in S Kensington for a makeup. I looked truly awful after it. My cousin who is the kindest and mildest of women had to agree with me that it was. After that I am reluctant to let anyone near my face apart from a lovely asian dermstology consultsnt who successfully froze my seborrheoic keratoses off my face. Now that was money well spent.

Forgot, toenails gelled one or twice over summer, never fingernails.

M0nica

Haircut every 6 weeks, colour it myself

Electrolysis on my face every six weeks, i would have a beard to rival my DH's without it, I have been having it for 40 years

Eyebrow tint and shape every 6 weeks

Nothing else, there is othing else I feel in need of, I have very suare nails that I keep cut short, so do nothing to draw attention to them.

I get waxing/threading done every four to six weeks - or else I'd be lining up for a job as the bearded lady too!

I think there is a difference between cosmetic/beauty treatments and relaxation therapies.

Yes, I do pay for a good haircut every few weeks but nothing else.

However, a relaxing facial. hot stone massage etc doesn't make me beautiful in that sense but still does me a lot of good in a well-being sense.

Apart from the hair, I don’t have anything done.

It’s not because I don’t need it, because I can’t be bothered & expensive.
Bit of make up most days, especially around the eyes, otherwise they look like pee holes in the snow

Georgesgran Wed 20-May-26 18:40:18

I shall be wearing eye liner in my coffin - otherwise I’ll be back to haunt both DDs!

MollyNew Wed 20-May-26 18:38:44

Haircut every 6 weeks. Highlights at Christmas and possibly Spring if it feels dull. As long as my hair is looking good, I can manage the rest myself.

I used to have my eyelashes tinted as they are blonde but I couldn't be bothered with the regular appointments.

I'd like to have my eyebrows microbladed but I'm scared of looking weird so I'll stick to eyebrow pencils!

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 20-May-26 18:38:20

Hair cut every 6 weeks.
Roots every 3 months - I’m not ready to embrace the grey.
Very occasional manicure
Pedicures in the summer, but not while I’m still treating my infected toe
Facial waxing - I tried electrolysis and it was agony!
I never leave the house without lipstick, earrings and a splash of perfume

Georgesgran Wed 20-May-26 18:35:03

Reflexology is about £55-£60 for an hour session near me Helter. I’m sure you know that the theory is that certain parts of the foot relate to parts of the body, so massaging or applying pressure to a toe or other part of the foot improves the health of the corresponding area within the body.

It sounds like a load of rubbish and may well be, but it’s very relaxing, definitely reduces stress and I know of people who’ve actually fallen asleep during it.

I don’t have any hobbies as such, so spending a few pounds on treats like this makes me feel good. Yes, I’m worth it too.

I get my hair cut every 6-7 weeks , highlights every 3 months . Nails and toe nails when I go away , which is about 4 times a year . I’m happy with my lashes and brows and have a facial every 6 months . I do my own waxing . I had Botox for about 20 years but as I’ve got older , I’m 67 , it doesn’t work as well .

grandMattie Wed 20-May-26 18:28:57

Haircut 6 weekly
Chiropodist 7-8 weekly.

watermeadow Wed 20-May-26 18:20:33

Hair cut at home about every 3 months.
Nails chewed.
Skin Nivea’d every night.
Clothes from charity shops.
I have far more important things to spend money on, like my pets.

hollysteers Wed 20-May-26 18:11:39

Magenta8

Dry cut at the local barber about once a year.

That's it. Because I'm worthless.grin

Haha, I’m sure you’re not!

hollysteers Wed 20-May-26 18:04:58

Hair highlights and roots as far apart as I can manage (brown spray for roots)
Acrylic nails as I pick my fingers to death without them. Pedicure I do myself and then not until the summer.
Botox as creams don’t cut the mustard. Vaseline is just as good.
Fillers twice a year.
Have no patience for long beauty treatments, but Botox is a must for me.
