William and Catherine’s Anniversary Photo

Not really sure I like it. A tangle of bare legs is not very dignified.
It’s the kind of family holiday snap that I’d only want to show to close friends and family.

Is it just me?

^Good Luck removing the grass stains^

I doubt that will be Catherine’s problem!

Most definitely it wont be

Beans12 you're entitled to your view, I wonder if it extends to any other families or couples that put themselves in the limelight?

Wish they'd stop all the photos and nature videos-it's all so showy, "look at us", "aren't we wonderful"-I find them nauseating.

Silvergirl Fri 01-May-26 11:16:47

I love it. A very happy and relaxed family photo.

JenniferEccles Fri 01-May-26 10:06:53

Although it appeared to be a lovely, natural picture, it was staged. I’m sure they hadn’t arrived with bare feet for example.

I just couldn’t help thinking how uncomfortable it looked !

I assume they understand that they will be criticised or condemned one way or the other, irrespective of the pose they adopt.

There will always be those looking to find fault for one reason or another

And there will always be those who jump to the wrong conclusions.

That's very true, and what a shame that people feel the need to criticise them. I think William and Catherine are both lovely, they represent everything that a future king and queen should. They're dignified, wholesome, have a warm and caring way about them towards the public, they're wonderful parents to their gorgeous children, and really deserve our respect.

Charles and Camilla are doing a great job at the moment, so proud of the way they conducted themselves in America, and it showed just how special they are when up against the current buffoon of a President and his puppet wife.

When their time comes to take over, I have every confidence that William and Catherine will be the most wonderful king and queen to represent this country, and I hope that the public supports them instead of nitpicking because we, as a nation, are so lucky to have them.

I hate having my photograph taken. Imagine having your photo taken and then the whole world scrutinises it and pulls it to pieces - no thanks 😟

Yes, quite.

There will always be those looking to find fault for one reason or another.

It's one of the disadvantages of their roles. I assume they will just do what feels right for them - because they are never going to 'win' anyway!

I agree. Photo very crammed. Maybe a last minute afterthought?

I don’t like the photograph, looks staged

There’s formal and there’s naturally informal.

This is posed informal so neither one thing nor the other.

First time I ever looked at “royals” and saw a “normal” family. Lovely photo. A welcome departure from the stuffy, boring, and overly formal.

Wholeheartedly agree!

The days of those 'proper', formal, very posed, family photo's is rather last century - the monarchy is evolving I think.

But I guess the British public will never agree on this!

Norah, I'm sure you're not suggesting we aren't being shown William and Kate's children's faces! There must be thousands of photographs of all 3, full face on.

People were trying to imply that had this had been Harry and Meghan's children the comments would not have been so complimentary or words to that effect

So that's why I commented on the faces. Personally I've no interest in seeing their children. However, if they posted a picture with their faces to the camera there would be quite the surprise

TheSunRisesInTheEast Thu 30-Apr-26 21:11:41

George and Charlotte probably weren't told to look away, it's just a happy, natural snapshot of a family day out 🥰.

If this were Harry and Meghan I expect this thread I expect many opinions would totally different.

Had this been Harry and Meghan, everyone would be utterly amazed that they'd opted to show their children's faces!

I must say, what is the obsession with faces?

Seems people 2nd from left and end on right aren't face on.

JaneJudge Thu 30-Apr-26 20:18:15

the Americans will love it
it's all Enid Blyton

I like the informality of it but think it's all about Kate with William just tagged on at the end on his own.

William is between George and the dog!

TheSunRisesInTheEast Thu 30-Apr-26 19:48:30

My eyes went straight to Kate's fingers entwined with Louis's, that's so endearing 🥰.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 30-Apr-26 19:44:28

I have to disagree with those Gran's who regard this photo as being very natural & relaxed. To my squinty, cynical eyes it seems very staged & posed & the jumble of legs is rather discombobulating!
What is lovely though, is seeing the beautious Kate happy, healthy, glowy & smiling.
Ps, my ungratefuls would have scarpered before one could say Roquefort! 🙃

Quite. The feeding frenzy would no doubt be raging by now.
