A famous matador gored by bull!

What good news šŸ‘

I believe they stab the bull before it goes into the ring just for starters ā˜¹ļø

Animal cruelty cannot be used as entertainment in my view.

PS the bull’s horn went up his rectum. I saw the photo of this today.

It should never have happened. Cruel sport. How can anyone enjoy watching an animal being tortured and a man being mauled. It's beyond me.

Grantanow Tue 21-Apr-26 23:13:09

I should have written Manolete, not Manoletti.

Cardamom Tue 21-Apr-26 23:12:09

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Matador take note.

Grantanow Tue 21-Apr-26 23:11:00

Spain is a different country: they do things differently there. I remember some years ago in Cordoba on Easter Sunday the traditional procession pausing at the statue of Manoletti the famous billfighter.

Same for all the sports that still use animals in this country- horse racing, hunting, shooting and fishing etc. Are we nicer to our animals? More often there is no chance that they would injure us that badly...man v bull seems a bit better matched than man v fish.

I agree it should be banned Basgetti but does that excuse people saying good and putting emojis. Why rejoice in it. A man will never be the same again.

Gloating over any suffering, to humans or animals, is abhorrent. And says a lot about the people who delight in the pain of others.

I agree.

The matadot's views are not shared by me but the injury sounds dreadful. He is, however, recovering. I hope the bull is ok too.

Apparently 77% of Spanish citizens are against the practice of bull-fighting so why it continues I do not know.

It certainly does.

I have just read about the matador injuries they made me shudder.
The injury is anal and he was given operation right away. He is still in a serious position. This is why I feel people saying good is revolting. This man's life will be changed forever. The psin will be severe.

I imagine e the bull’s pain is severe, too. Surgeon’s do t try to save his life, though.
I’m sorry this person is suffering but it was his choice to enter the bullring. A choice the bull does not have.
It’s a revolting ā€œsportā€ that ought to be banned.

rafichagran Tue 21-Apr-26 22:32:38

Pain not psin.

I don't agree with bull fighting and would never watch such a thing but neither could I enjoy and celebrate serious injury to anyone. It's a repugnant cruel practice but then enjoying serious physical injury to another human is also repugnant in my view.

I would t enjoy it, either. I certainly hope the matador in question reassesses now, though.
What a ridiculous way to earn a living.

"I think gloating over any violent death is unnecessary.

Agree. Or even if he was just badly injured."

Bull fighting is dreadful. But to see people saying good glad he got hurt is surprising and in my opinion unpleasant.

I’m not saying good. I am saying it’s hardly a surprise, is it?
Bloody awful practice. Matador has a choice. Bull doesn’t.

Is gloating over dead bulls ok?

The matador had a choice (and no doubt enjoyed the adulation).

Good do šŸ‘šŸ» cruel people!

Smileless2012 Tue 21-Apr-26 19:36:15

No sympathy for the Matador; serves him right.

I agree. Much as I loathe the very thought of bull fighting and any other blood sports, I was shocked by some of the above posts.

Surely that's the risk they take though? I'll spare my sympathy for the poor bulls. They have no choice in the matter - the matadors do.

Good šŸ‘

Kate1949 Tue 21-Apr-26 17:39:45

As I said above, he didn't die.

Basgetti Tue 21-Apr-26 17:36:39

Don’t believe he died. Though of course he knew that was a possibility as he stepped into the ring.
