My DS films himself when white water canoeing. I think his phone is attached to his chest somehow? Or maybe he has a special camera. I don't know. I need to ask!
It's weird to do that in a swimming pool, I agree.

I agree it is very odd to us of a certain age!! I see people walking their dogs taking their young children to school always on their phones!!! People talk about ‘living in the moment’ but I think we knew how to do it without being taught!! We weren’t constantly distracted by ‘stuff!!’ Just got on with our day

Went swimming today, and during my usual 20 lengths I saw a young woman swimming on her back - while looking at her phone!! She must have done a couple of lengths like that!

Maybe she was fat enough to float with ease.

Having been a competitive swimmer (only county level) in my youth,I'd have tried anything to relieve the soul destroying boredom of ploughing up and down the pool. Especially length after length of legs only.

At the gym people stay upstairs in the weights room. Some spend 50% of the time on their mobile - well younger ones - and it's a chance to get away from it....I don't really get it, interacting with others is far nicer.

But I'd still love to hear how on earth she managed it!

From what I could see she was kicking, not very strongly, and using her non phone arm.

what did folk do before mobile phones? the only reason I bought one , not even a smart phone , was to have with me if my car broke down. when I go into town almost everyone I pass is talking on their phone.

I am sure some people would marry their phone if they could. I wish people would fully enjoy (I was going to say immerse but perhaps not appropriate) whatever activity they are doing. It is like those who can't have a meal without photographing it and putting it on Facebook.
I hope she doesn't start a trend.

I wonder if she was recording herself? It would be a bit of a primitive method, but who knows - maybe she's one of the ever-growing number of 'content creators'?
