madeleine, I cheat and use a ready made case. If the goddess, Mary Berry, can use ready made puff pastry… 🤣

Good morning from South Lanarkshire and Happy Birthday grandMattie, noisy restaurants are a real problem aren’t they? I always ask for a table next to a wall now and I think that does help.
Because of school holidays I am not travelling today and much as I love the DGC, am really enjoying a stay at home week. This afternoon I am going with a friend to the monthly U3A meeting which I can never attend and I’m looking forward to that.
Very much thinking about you today RosesandLilac.
After a call from the leader of our book club saying she was staying on holiday for a week longer than planned so would I step in, I’ve also had more time to think about our current read, H is for Hawk, which hasn’t been universally popular if our group book chat is anything to go by! Offers to pass copies on have been met by uncharacteristic silence 😳
Your car looks lovely Ash, enjoy using it.
A rotten disappointment Gingster even if it can’t be helped.
Good wishes to all.
God morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 12 °C.
🎂🎁🎉 Happy birthday GM.
Dear Roses, I wish you all the best for today.
Sar, I am sorry things have not gone well.
Life continues to be very problematic and frustrating. DH's BP is not coming down and he has now developed the dreaded BP cough.
My BP is heading towards DH's level.🙈
I took DIL and Dollie to Silverburn yesterday. Dollie was so subdued, worrying about both her mum and Papa.😪 I was exhausted.
DIL managed to get a pair of trousers. Age 11/12. She has lost so much weight.
Stopping off at Matalan, to return a pair of jeggings, which emphasised and exaggerated, every roll of flab I found I had left them at home.😭
It was the last straw.
Of course, it was DH's fault, I had been nagging him, about not taking his meds 🤬 and forgot to pick up the bag.
Today is another full on day. We are moving out of the church at the weekend, to enable the restoration work. I am dreading it and am trying to rally the troops.
Unfortunately, email account isn't working, so I cannot contact parishioners. 😪
I am going to try and sort it today.
Enjoy your day folks.
Kindest thoughts to Roses today and to Sar’s H.
How disappointed and down he must feel.
Good morning from a chilly brightening northwest coast.
A good day yesterday, the music club went well, I was on the desk and sang Carmen solos complete with Spanish shawl and flower in my hair,😁 plus folk songs etc. Small, but appreciative turnout.
In the evening, DS turned up and DD cooked a nice meal, salmon fillets, lemon sauce, then tiramisu, my favourite.
Hadn’t seen DS for a while and he’s a night bird, we talked until nearly two in the morning. He’s very good company. DD sensibly made an escape..
Birthday greetings grandMattie and thoughts to Roses🌺
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey damp morning, where it has already been raining but not stopped in North Yorkshire. I have finally been able to start after a horrible bout of cramp that kept me captive and unable to get moving for a long time.
The night had been bad too and it followed a day of effort not rewarded in any way! Every effort I made to do anything, and get things was a failure and I would have been better staying at home, not getting anything I wanted despite going to various shops etc. Now dont feel like chancing it going down to the market on the yellow peril. Just hope today will at least improve a bit. Best plan I can think of is to attack the ironing mountain and then at least there will be something to show for my efforts.
Hope you have a good trip into Bicester Mick. A very happy birthday GrandMattie. Oh to be so young! Your bakewell sounds lovely. Something my mother used to make that I loved, but I rarely made as somehow found doing both pastry and cake a hassle. Tended to have a pastry bake day or a cake bake day but not the both. Anyway hope the FAB cafe goes well. Roses and Lilac hope that your scan goes well today. I have never driven an automatic, but a friend tells me she was so pleased she changed over . It sounds a good plan to see what the garage can offer, and you might find a driving school that has an automatic car that you could have a go with and see how it suits.
I am starting with cramp again so wish everyone a decent day and will read more later
Good morning all and we’re in for a drizzly day here in Essex.
I’m meant to be going to London today with my two old school friends. We’re booked into the Tate Modernto see the Tracy Emin exhibition. Dd was going to sit in with dh . I was so looking forward to seeing my pals especially as one has just returned from 6 months in Oz.
Dh was very poorly yesterday and it wouldn’t have been fair to leave Dd with all that entailed. It wouldn’t have been have been a long day too. Oh well! That’s life!
All the best for today Rosesandlilac. Thinking of you .
Happy birthday GrandMattie 💐.
Karma hope your visit to the opticians goes well. I’m still waiting for my second opinion.(DVLA).
Best wishes for all poorlies and those struggling with life at the moment.🙏
Good morning from an overcast NE with rain forecast for rest of the day, even thunder this evening.
Sister has had her flights changed due to airline strike, she now has to fly via Heathrow but at least she is able to travel.
My other sister and BIL are taking me to my dental appointment this afternoon and maybe shopping afterwards.
Happy birthday grandMattie 💐
Roses 🌹
Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk where I was astonished to see so many posts before 8am!
Happy birthday gM and so sorry Sar to hear of the need for your DH to have a repeat eye op.
I have my keep fit class this morning with the usual chatty friendly group,of about 12 or more women and then I think I have plenty of paperwork to sort out for the afternoon.
I hope all have a good day especially those unwell or caring for others who are.
And thinking of you and your scan Roses, best wishes
Good morning Mick and everybody from damp Carlisle.
We don't need all this rain! The garden is sodden but more is due today in the form of showers.
Yesterday was an early walk in the park when it was sunny but the clouds returned as I got back and another showery day ensued. I just got on with a bit of bathroom cleaning and tidying jobs.
Today it's into town shortly for a quick visit to the dentist then back, probably for a bit of clothes sorting...I'm just trying to avoid a bit of dusting really!
Your poor DH Sar, I hope his discomfort doesn't last until the next attempt.
Happy birthday grandMattie ! Wishing you an enjoyable day.
Sorry to hear that Sar he must be very disappointed.
Morning from a damp S Hants, more rain forecast.
Happy Birthday gMattie 🎂
I hope today goes without hitches Roses
I had a telephone appointment with my surgeon yesterday and hip restrictions are lifted, I’ll still be tentative for a while.
Not much planned today, I’ll sit in the car and check how I feel, insurance was notified yesterday.

Thinking of you today Roses as you go for your scan. 💐
Good morning from Durham. It’s intermittent drizzle here and that’s forecast all day.
A disturbed night and I was awake for hours, feeling very hot.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10, then I’d arranged for someone to measure for new blinds this afternoon, but after waiting weeks, the aerial man also wants to come and look at my problem. I hope they don’t come at the same time - both say after 2pm.
Happy birthday 🎂🎉 gM hope you have a lovely day.
Go for the automatic RosesandLilac I hope your scan goes to plan today and you can start some form of treatment without delay.
So much illness and sadness on the GN site at the moment.
Best wishes to all.
Good morning from a grey W Kent
Happy birthday gM
All the best RosesandLilac
Quiet day as half the people going to art group seem to be ill and I thought I would avoid it as we are away very soon. Will do some more packing
Best wishes
Good morning from a grey Cambridgeshire.
Should have been doing a half way meet up with some old friends today but due to me having an ongoing sore throat sore mouth thing they preferred we cancelled in case I pass something on. However although it lingers I feel ok just a bit more tired than normal. I will instead meet DD2 for a lunch out together at the local garden centre as she is on a day off.
Happy Birthday GM 🎂
Roses hope PET scan goes ok 💐
Hoping all the poorly DH’s are doing well
Sending best wishes to all for the best day possible 🌷
Good morning from the Essex coast.
A Very Happy Birthday to GM, enjoy your special day.
Yesterday's hospital visit didn't go well. The transplant hasn't taken and DH has to have it done again but not until the 6th May. He was in a lot of discomfort when we returned home and spent most of the rest of the day in bed.
I went to the committee meeting alone last night.
We have no plans today.
I hope you all have a pleasant day x
Good morning from Leicestershire where it has rained.
Coffee with friends at a local garden centre and I may pop into Waitrose.
Hopefully then the man will come to mend the washing machine.
Getting used to my new iPad, the cover is more complicated than the machine.
Happy Birthday Grand Mattie.
I hope your scan goes well Roses.
Good morning everyone from a damp and dreary Northampton, more rain forecast throughout the day. Pleased I got some washing done yesterday as it all dried outside beautifully.
I joined my walking group after lunch with a plan to get a bus afterwards to the shops. That plan changed as I realised that the walk itself goes past the retail park, so I decided to leave the walk at that point and do my shopping. I was planning on getting a birthday present for my DSIS, thought about flowers but ended up with a box of chocolates and some chocolate biscuits.
A Sainsbury's delivery this morning then I am going over to DD's late afternoon, as it is our ladies wine group evening meet-up, which is her side of town. Shall stay at DD's overnight.
Tomorrow DD is taking me down to Wiltshire to visit my DSIS, who has been in a care home there for a few years now. It also happens to coincide with her birthday on Friday. I am not sure how the visit is going to go, as DSIS has quite advanced dementia, and may not have a clue who we are. Our brother is visiting her today, so I may get some news from him this evening.
Wishing grandMattie a happy birthday 🎂💐🎂🎁
Hoping a pleasant day is ahead.
Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Toddlers this morning and depending how tired I am afterwards possibly some ironing.
Happy birthday grandMattie 🎂🎉, it is also my nephews birthday today and 2 other friends April and May are very busy months for birthdays in this house.
Hope it all goes smoothly RosesandLilac
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans ☀️.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and wet. It's not actually raining at the moment but forecast. There's loads of puddles.
A very happy birthday to GrandMattie. I hope you have a lovely day. I have 2 double birthdays in the family! My brother and dsil, then ds and dgs2. Ashcombe happy driving to you. I'm still getting used to my new car.
Yesterday was a lovely day with dgs2. Once I dropped off dgs1 at football, we went for a hot chocolate and cake. He was a happy wee soul. Then popped in to a shop for drawing paper and bought a couple of new toys. He was very excited at recognising letters on the shop window, bless him. Back to my house where much painting was done. Then bubble blowing outside and making mud pies. Then he created a zoo for his new number block family to visit. Once we picked up a grumpy dgs1(he was tired) there was good sharing going on, not a usual event! Then I dropped them home quite happy.
Last night was a reasonable night's sleep. Today is a sad day as I'm going to my friend's son's funeral. Too young at 44. I'm going with other friends in their car which means I'm reliant on waiting for them to leave after the funeral tea. I'm not good at being patient! Have a good day all
Good morning Mick and all a cloudy Morecambe Bay.
Yesterday’s plans to get on top of all the gardens in my care was thwarted by the weather. Today we have a little visitor who doesn’t like crazy dog so I will take crazy dog out of the way and DH can entertain the little one.
I’m praying the under writer will approve a mortgage for my son as his landlord is selling up but as offered for him to buy the property. My DS has learning difficulties but is independent with a lot of support, but this is all causing us all a great deal of stress. I appreciate serious and long term health problems are worse, but I really need to have this sorted so I can sleep without nightmares.
Wishing a very Happy Birthday to grandMattie and thinking of all with troubles and ill health. Take care.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s grey, dry and very mild at the moment, I think a drizzly day is forecast.
I had a consultation with a rheumatologist yesterday and my medication is being changed. I have arranged a blood test and all being well, hope to be able to have an infusion of the new drug later in May. As usual, parking was a nightmare. The hospital is on the outskirts of the city, and the car park is just not big enough. It would take two bus journeys each way for me to get there on public transport so not practical for me.
Happy Birthday grandmattie I hope you have an enjoyable day. Poor Iris, braces round the teeth are very uncomfortable to begin with and take a while to get used to.
rosesandlilac I hope your scan goes well today.
Best wishes to all who are unwell or anxious. I hope the day will bring some improvement for you.
Have the best day possible everyone.
