if they win power in the general election, will this change your stance on voting in the local elections??

"The reform party has agreed to continue the triple lock."

And they promised a great many things to get power on the councils. Have any of those promises, anywhere been carried out? The majority of them seem to have turned out to be just the opposite!

That's my business. Suffice to say that I don't pick up gauntlets. I leave you to make up your own fairy tales.

Bit rude? I would just like to know which points in their manifesto are of interest.

May be dicing with death here but personally I think Restore’s Rupert Lowe has a point.

Honestly? We been through this poop before when discussing the Reform guy’s book. Statistically it’s extremely unlikely that Muslims are taking over the world or even the UK.

So no, I don’t think Lowe has any valid points whatsoever.

Why would I vote for a party that wants to do away with the NHS? Why would anyone? I don't understand why people never answer this question when I ask it. OK you might be able to afford private medical insurance but millions can't.

The main thing is if the NHS is phased out and the American model is replicated here I don’t think anyone here who isn’t familiar with the USA model will have the slightest clue what will hit them.

So it won’t be private healthcare as we know it, it’ll be very very expensive insurance which will not cover everything!

My cousin and his family live in California, and have done for over 30 years. He had an operation and his truly mindblowingly insurance covered the action operation but not the aftercare, nor the drugs he needed to fully recover, believe me when I tell you our prescription charges wouldn’t have covered the cost of one pill. In some states people die because they cannot afford medical costs.

Let’s be grateful for what we have.

That alone would stop me voting Reform, without all the other nonsense they wish to stop or bring in.

Of course it’s a democracy and anyone is free to believe and vote for anyone that draws them.

Just be careful what you wish for smile

I think a few prods are being introduced for the purposes of their sheer amusement, not worth rising to bait?

Hurray Reform UK ,
party for people below 100 years old

I take that to mean that you think that the currently 76% of the electorate who won’t vote for Reform, are all over 100 years old?

DeeAitch56 Wed 15-Apr-26 15:16:27

To keep Reform away from power, you just have to look at their unfulfilled promises from their Brexit campaign Also keeping the triple lock doesn’t compensate for their intention to privatise the NHS

...and as a pensioner of 21 years and counting, the triple lock promise is not something I would hang my hat on. Yes, it meant an extra £46+change this time around but I only believe facts and solid evidence. I know that change takes time with ANY and EVERY party who takes office. These changes have to go through parliament and cannot be rushed as everyone should know. Some of you are openly admitting that Starmer bungled it for quite a while and is only now (so you say) beginning to find his feet. Lots of changes in the cabinet so don't forget that when the new incumbent gets the keys.
Also, don't forget that some GNers are in a basic pension and the triple lock helps them stay afloat.
Be kind.

I don’t think we actually said Starmer “bungled” it, I think we said a very shaky start, and that’s true, but those of us who supported him then, still support him now and understand Rome wasn’t built in a day.

It’s entirely your choice to whom you give your vote.

Mine in the local elections will go to Green, as the candidate is my next door neighbour, who will work and do his damndest for the ward.

I have yet to decide who I’ll vote for in the next GE, it’s too far away, and I may have to vote to keep someone out, rather than vote someone in, just depends how
The land lies, I only know it won’t be Reform, Restore or Tory!

I suspect this will be like all the other false promises they have made where they have won in local councils. It is a headline grabber and nothing more.

...and the other main parties have always carried through their election promises...eh?

I would vote for Reform in the next general election.
I'm not prepared to be torn apart for my opinion.
I respect we all have different views.
I have mine and you have yours.
Thank you.

I'm voting Reform. Taking into account that some of you will certainly have voted Lib Dem and fewer voted Green, some of both choices to divert votes from the conservatives who you couldn't wait to get rid of for the face of 'new' Labour, I wonder just what your plans are now you've turned away from the 4 best known parties. Libs and Greens haven't got a chance and you know it. So...is it the same one you tossed aside at the last election or the one currently residing in number 10?
I'm not dissing anyone's choice but Reform is getting my vote.

What do you like about Reform please? Thanks

I got an email this morning as regards a local woman standing for election as a Labour councillor in the seat she lives in. Sexual threats have been made against her in person by a group of male Reform supporters. There was a call for women to turn out in force to support her in canvassing today and to call it out.
I cant be there and feel sad about that,
But I cant say I am surprised.

(Not that only Reform males make this kind of threat, but our local LP is going to call it out as they campaign)

Yes, Starmer is 'boring'. I have seen this complaint on other Threads
And I wish to shout THANK GOODNESS for that.
I have had enough of clowns and performers hogging the political stage, doing anything to grab attention back to themselves.
The show is over. Let's get back to reality.

Hear, hear Maremia 👏👏👏

Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you Keir … and I am grateful for it!

Not of they were the last party on earth…As I told the campaigners recently

Delene100 Wed 15-Apr-26 14:30:28

I am a pensioner but I hope the Reform party doesn't get into power as we would see a replication of what Trump is doing to America. How is Brexit going for you all? Nigel is very quiet after persuading Brits to leave the EU. At a time when Russia is a threat to the UK and Europe, and the Current US government under Trump is not so friendly, we need to be with the EU more than ever. Together we will be stronger.

I'm not a fan of Reform in general or Nigel Farage. The only thing I would say is that he does seem unafraid of saying what he means and doesn't hide behind waffle and prevarication.

Jockytaff Wed 15-Apr-26 14:12:11

Whitewavemark2 - totally agree but sadly many people, including some I know, are falling for it. I'm genuinely worried for the future. What worrying, miserable times we live in.
