Agree with Grandmattie, all the lorries in India have a sign on the back saying "Horn please" !

In Cairo they put their hand in the horn before they stated the engine.

I do use the horn in anger when some idiot has done something very stupid.
I also drive in Greece and there the horn is used for many things, including just to let someone know you’re going to overtake.
Although if anyone peeps their horn in my vicinity (in the UK) I immediately adopt a position of guilt and wonder what I’ve done 😂

The horn on our car is quite pathetic really. It sounds that feeble even the car blushes from embarrassment. It's not faulty, just a bit rubbish.

The family over the road always sound their horns when arriving home. 2 cars and a flat bed truck! hugs

Driving me home from coffee, my friend who was in the correct lane and signalling right properly was hooted at by the car behind, who was far too close to her bumper.
She didn’t return his hoot, but I’m sure white van man understood my hand gesture - it’s all in the wrist!!

Many years ago my H and I were going to the shops when two nice young men stopped us to ask directions to a road in our village.
My H was a “never wrong man “ so started with instructions, I knew the area better than him so argued he was making it unnecessarily long.
After several minutes toing and froing the young men laughed and said actually we live there so April Fool.
I was not amused as I didn’t think it was a very good joke.

On the rare occasion when I remember to beep my horn I can never make it work. But if I inadvertently nudge it with my elbow when manoeuvring it goes off and makes me jump.

The times in my life that I have ever thought to try and use it I could count on one hand.

I don't think UK drivers are overly guilty of sounding their horns. Whereas somewhere like Rome is deafening! France is a bit horn happy too. Maybe the warmer weather makes for impatience and frustration in some countries.
More than once in my life I've had to toot the driver in front of me who appears to have fallen asleep, or gone into a trance, when traffic lights turn green again.
