I can barely afford to pay for myself nowadays in a cafe, let alone a dog
Halal and Kosher meat should labelling be mandatory?
Holidays - familiar or new places?
Precious sentimental objects lost.
Today I went for a lunch out with a couple of friends The cafe we went to not only allowed dogs in BUT wait for it ā¦. Drum roll ā¦.had a separate printed Dog Menu on each table š¤¦āāļø

It can't last can it?
I had an unfortunate run in with a dog owner in our community cafƩ recently.
We have one area reserved for no dogs where I was sitting.
She came and sat in this small area with her middle sized collie.
I pointed out her error, there are labels on the tables, but was not only rebuked by her but when she began to cry, she was comforted by staff and continued to sit in the dog free zone.
This is the same community cafƩ and shop founded by my late DH. It is also where I was bitten by a dog and where the policy was to allow dogs at the front of the shop only, where there are 8 tables, for a trial period. I don't remember an occasion where we were asked for our views or if the trial ended. There is a jar of free dog treats on the serving counter.
I volunteer one day a week at the till and value the place but was angry after this incident and am seriously considering resigning.
I don't dislike dogs but I do not like them in cafes and food shops.
There are 4 tables outside too under an awning where anyone can sit.

Each to their own.
I see more posts than Iād like to about Dog Cafes, dogs here, dogs there, on this site and I get some of you really donāt want to share your eating spaces with other peopleās dogs.
If you donāt wish to go into a Dog Cafe, or a hotel or restaurant which welcome dogs then just choose somewhere else.
There are still plenty of places who donāt encourage dogs in.
Have you heard of these Cat Cafes? Not many of them around, but you pay to go in there and surround yourself with someone elseās cats. Iād hate that, so I wouldnāt go there, but plenty do, and thatās great for them!
My dog barks too much so she stays at home when we eat out, but Iāve been in dog cafes and theyāve been full of good dogs and happy owners.
We went to a cat cafe once when my granddaughter was about 5. You had a time slot of 30 minutes to finish the meal, and they wouldn't even give you a doggy bag (should that be a 'catty bag?) to take the rest of the meal with you. There were cats climbing onto the tables. Never again.
Dogs, not digs! Though both apply.

I imagine some young couples who canāt afford an house or children invest all of that emotional in their digs. Canāt blame businesses for trying to capitalise on that I suppose.
Just out of interest, out of 19 threads in Last Hour, there are 4 (at least) about dogs.
Have we lost any sense of proportion where our supposed 'Best Friends' are concerned?

We have a dog cafe near us that will host a party for your dog's birthday.
It gets worse ššš
I visit a lovely remote cafe thatās usually full of dogs and their companions- I donāt have a dog but my goodness when the dogs are loose and their leads are clanging on the ground it sounds like Jacob Marley visiting Scrooge š
I bought a dog ice cream for my dog from the menu in a dog-friendly cafe, but sadly he didn't like it.

Iām not sure you have seen it all BlueBelle, in Yorkshire thereās a a Dog Bus! Crazy times right enough, I do like dogs butā¦..!

What did the dog choose?
š
Our local pub has an Ć la carte menu for humans, and an Ć la bark menu for dogs!
I agree with other posters that businesses are having to attract customers any which way they can, and dont forget, dog owners go out walking EVERY day of the year, and often stop for coffee or for lunch.

Dogs are Big Money in so many ways. Our local cafes and pubs all dog friendly, all do doggy sausages and treat bags
Iām such a judgemental these days, my poor dogs donāt go to the pub. I donāt know who theyād be mixing with

I think this is a great idea. Top marks to the lady who thought of it too. Local businesses are to be applauded at this time.
Alsoā¦. The dog cafes with the menus are only probably trying to increase their trade. Times are hard enough for cafes at the moment. I would rather see a dog in a cafe, than not have the cafe close because itās not profitable.

Cossy this is not a thread about dogs eating in cafes/restaurants itās about dogs having their own printed menus of dishes (not just dog food) and at a price too
I like dogs but this is ridiculous, dogs canāt read or tap their card to pay !!!
You are wrong, when you say there are plenty of other places to go to in my area there are very few eating places that are not dog friendly I can only think of one, well two, if you count Wetherspoon's, and as I went with friends today I didnāt choose the venue.
(I like cats but I can think of nothing worse than a cafe with cats wandering around, we only had one here and it has closed down but this was not what the thread was about)
āNot so sure I think itās a great idea to allow them just to wander about? Keep them under control and on a lead surely is more sensible?ā
Oh they are on leads but leads can be long and in some cases the dog wanders about to the length of the lead with both the dog and lead a tripping hazard.
Am not opposed to ādog cafesā in fact I wish there were more ādog cafesā instead of ordinary cafes that let in dogs, then people could make an informed choice rather than choosing a nice cafe to go for lunch in only to discover it also has lots of dogs in it.
Is not always apparent.

What did the dog choose?
Fallingstar
A cafe not far from us has a menu for dogs but is a chalk board on the wall, and they offer doggy ice cream and sausage surprise.
We donāt go in because the dogs wander about and my DH has a visual impairment as well as physical disabilities so he could fall over one.
Obviously is a profit to be made from dog owners but what about customers
who walk on by rather than eating in a place where there are so many dogs.

Amazing, that there are more families with dogs than children. š
