Happy new year everyone I ve been playing sudukos etc for a while but tucked down with only my hands out, going for a salty sauna on our cliff top and a carvery today so that ll be lovely
Then totally back to my normal very mundane humdrum life

Keep cosy everyone I am reading the weather forecast for the next week. Brrrrrr and we are in the south.

Not too bad a sleep last night. Woke up twice but managed to go back to zzzzz till 5.30. A few fireworks locally but they seemed to be earlier than midnight.
Another cup of coffee calls.

I like the sound of a salty sauna. Very warming and bracing.

I didn't sleep very well. Fireworks woke me a few times and, of course, I got to thinking, always keeps me awake. Finally gave up and went to make my ultimate treat breakfast - coffee with Bailey's, fresh orange juice and two croissants.

Back in the old routine. 2:30 this morning

Oh Aveline I feel so inspired by your ultimate treat breakfast, what a wonderful idea. We've been away for Christmas in Spain, an ultimate treat for us and I've actually been sleeping through the night but we have to be up at 5 am to get to the airport and I woke at 3 am, urggh.
It's been very cold here and ironically it's warm tonight, I'm not much looking forward to it snowy UK. Happy New Year all.

3.31 and the dog’s awake. Shall I put her in the garden and make tea?

I came up at 9:15 and went to sleep quite quickly and have just woken for the first time so a very good sleep for me.
Went to the loo and looked out to a snowy landscape.
It is 3 degrees, I wonder if it will still be there in the morning.
Quite awake now but will try to get back to sleep.
Visiting mt ex DIL later, it is all a long time ago now and she is remarried with C of 21 and 17 , we keep a fairly amicable relationship going although my GD who lives with me has no contact with her mother.
A complicated situation.

Sorry about the complicated family relationships, but it is always better to have a cordial relationship with exes, if children are involved. Whether they stay in contact with their parent is their choice and may change in time.

My own night was ok, with stretches of sleep rather than a string of naps.

Good morning everyone, haven't slept a wink, made a few cups of tea and trued reading. A friend died yesterday and my mind cannot settle. I am getting older and should be used to it.
Not getting up just yet as its warmer in bed than out.

Still awake so just been down to make a cup of tea to bring back up.

I spoke to a friend of 55 years yesterday. She is older than I am in her mid 80s and didn't sound herself at all. Her DH is there so not alone and adult children and grandchildren not far. But she sounded so unlike her normal confident self and for the first time I thought Oh dear.
I am dreading my friends dying. So I am very sorry for your loss. Keep cosy in your bed and just let your thoughts wander.

I don’t dwell on it at all but I do sometimes wonder how it will end and I think that’s often more concerning that the end itself
Then I find myself thinking ‘ but I ll miss the grandkids so much but I ll be so bored, and then wobble my head and think you silly thing there won’t be any feelings when you’re dead,
Being old and near the end ( however fit we are) is pretty daunting

Woke up about4 am with a sense of doom (about me I think) and a disappearing dream which I can’t recall at all Hope today will just be a normal day, no plans except perhaps a shop although I ve still got plenty of food in the house
Weather feels very cold but dry here I think there’s lots of showiness around. Not here I ve looked out the window

BlueBelle, I agree re. reaching the end. Being dead doesn’t worry me, getting there does. Hugely.

I rarely remember my dreams. They sort of slip through my fingers on waking.

I don't get the sense of doom, but if there is a particular worry or something sad has happened and, on waking, I can't think what it is for a moment it does feel like doom when I do remember.

Six o'clock now. Coffee time. The bin men come today and the food bin is full. Good to get that out of the way with the full recycling. Cards to clear today. Fewer this year. Will I send cards next year? Not sure, but I have many months to decide.

I am now 88 and facing the fact I am not invincible but surprisingly I don’t dwell on it.
It is inevitable and I can accept that.
Perhaps that is what ageing brings, acceptance.

Yes the manner of getting to the end is only a thought for the brave. But I think death will be like going to sleep, but for the long sleep and not waking up which I don't really think about at night. I won't know like I didn't know I wasn't born.
The Universe will sail on without me.

Horrible night of tossing and turning, grrrhhh.
Couldn’t come on here because I’d left my iPad downstairs and I didn’t want to disturb the dogs. I have no idea why I have these ridiculously restless nights, despite taking magnesium, yet other nights I sleep like a log for up to 10 hours.
Helterskelter I imagine that the Universe will sail on but I’ll return to being a speck in the Galaxy somewhere. It rarely bothers me as it’s inevitable however it happens 🤷🏼‍♀️

I planned a walk last night as part of my get healthy regime ,but I'm afraid that The Cough started.
I fell asleep at nine and woke up at four .
Not bad really .
At least I had a few hours of uninterrupted sleep without nightmares !

How annoying I thought it would be at least 4 am on this my first loo visit, but alas only 1.40. I hope I can back to sleep somehow.

Bed at around 9:30 , asleep soon after and awake up just before 1, awake since then, this sleep pattern is very annoying but I don’t know how to break it.
Exercise is not possible and fresh air also not likely while it is so cold, I don’t know the answer.
Family tell me I come to bed too early but I would just fall asleep on the sofa if I didn’t.
Coming to terms with old age is difficult.
I hope some or even most of the 3 “am-ers” are sleeping peacefully.

Slept from 11pm till 3.30am. I’d hoped it was later. In bed and nice and warm. Still white outside after the snow yesterday. Also a beautiful full moon! I love the moon. Just looking at it can take me back in an instance to so many times. Both happy and sad.
My best friend from school days died on 16th December. I’m going to miss our phone chats so much. My head is all over the place. I’ll try for sleep. 💤
