Help! Facebook ID, how do I find it?

We tried Google and AI, the AI thing didn’t work!

Eventually guessed that it could well be my email address, put that in, and thank goodness it must have worked, since ESTA has arrived.

Its not obligatory....I left it blank...my visa came thru within a couple of hours

There are many people who never use Social Media, so however compulsory they made it to fill in the part of the form, it will always be impossible for every single applicant to list what doesn't exist for them.

I thought that it was optional to provide these details 🤷🏻‍♀️?

I have just checked my understanding, and it is optional to provide the social media data.

It’s in the FAQ section on the website.

Oh goodness!

It is a requirement, apparently.
The US Government wants access to all your social media accounts so that they can scan them over the last five years, presumably to see if you have said anything detrimental to their government.

Does your FB account craft colleagues know that you post on GN? I wouldn't put it past the paranoid MAGA officials to follow you here to see what company you keep.

Well, perhaps being a member of Gransnet could mean you'd be on the Travel Ban list.

Perhaps they might have a crochet hook listed as a lethal weapon. 😲

I suppose a size 1 might get confiscated at the airport!.

Googled and found this, the only way I could find it. Did this on my FB home page.
Site called destination-digital.co.uk

"How do I find the numeric Facebook ID for my Facebook page or profile?
If you are familiar with HTML code, this is the simplest way to find your ID. If you have never looked at a HTML tag in your life, don’t fear, it’s super simple if you follow these instructions.

Go to the Facebook Page you would like to find the ID for.
Right click your mouse on the page and select ‘view page source’
A new tab will pop up.
Press Ctrl-F, and then enter “owning_profile_id” to search for this phrase in the code
After this you will see a string of numbers in speech marks. This is your Facebook page’s numeric Facebook ID."

Not a scam. They want to check everybody’s social media nowadays, for terrorist/criminal leanings.

DD has given me an AI solution for finding it, but it hasn’t worked! It’s been so long since I’ve been asked to log in, I haven’t a clue (only really use FB for the closed, Knit for Nowt group). Will just have to put my email address on the form and hope it’s right.
Otherwise dh will be going to see my sister in Cape Cod on his own!

Whoever is asking for it wants either to check up on whether you have been posting stuff they don't agree with or to pretend to be you so that THEY can post under a false name.

I don't think the first lot are asking for a password - just the name that you page goes under. If you clock in to FB and then copy and paste (or just type it in) the address that appears in the WWW box, that will allow them to look at what you have on the page. That is, if you don't want to just thave them MindTheirOwnBusiness. If you only use it for a charity craft group, the ones who are checking up on your posts won't be missing anything important if you leave that blank.

Don't tell anyone the password. That is DEFINITELY none of their business.

If you suspect someone is phishing for more about you to misuse your identity, report them to a scam-busting organisation.

If you Google ‘how do I find my profile on Facebook?’, it comes up with all sorts of ways that might help you.
I’m sorry I can’t be of more help, but have never done that myself. I hope you find what you need.

I think ESTA like to know what socials you are on these days.

Are you sure this is not a scam, Witzend?
Surely not everyone is on Facebook anyway.
