OH has forgotten that it’s my birthday today. At 89, I only have 2 good friends left and they have both sent lovely cards, but what I miss is hearing an actual voice wishing me Happy Birthday. Still,I count my blessings. I’ve just picked a colander full of runner beans, my first tomatoes are ripening, my little cat is purring peacefully by my side and it’s not as hot as it was yesterday.
I shan’t mention it to OH, it would only upset him, and I’ve put the cards up in my bedroom for the same reason. “Lathyrus”, I love the comment about the courgettes. It reminds me of a Miss Read book about being headmistress at a tiny country school where she would find presents of marrows left on her doorstep like abandoned babies and would creep out at n.ight to bury them in the garden so as not to cause offence.
Happy birthday Chicken. Enjoy the runner beans and your special day. Congratulations 🥳
You're 89, Congratulations and Happy Birthday.
I'm guessing you've got a vintage husband who has lasted almost as long as you. It's not surprising if some of the working parts are showing a little wear and tear.
Happy Birthday💐🎂🍾, hope you enjoyed your runner beans, my dear father in law used to slice them thinly with a pocket knife, especially for me and my Mil, served with butter and plenty of S& P they used to taste delicious, shop bought do not taste the same.
Thank you all. I had a lovely day. DD had gone on holiday but left a lovely lunch that I just had to warm up—-much appreciated on a hot day. GD brought the baby round for a cuddle together with scones, jam and clotted cream for tea. S2 rang from Australia for a long chat, also GS3 and several other GCs messaged me,so a busy, happy day.
Oh, chicken. I'd be fizzing too, but the thing about forgetting things is that we don't do it on purpose. I hope you've had a good day all the same. You never know, he might remember soon.

Happy Birthday chicken! Lovely story about the marrows... I used to really enjoy 'escaping' into the world of Miss Read.
