OP, if it was dementia, you wouldnāt be able to remember that you couldnāt remember things, so it wouldnāt be bothering you. At least, thatās been my experience of dementia in my mother and my FiL.
The day it finally dawned that my mother did have dementia - it wasnāt just āold age forgetfulnessā - was when she phoned her bank about something, and could not remember - literally the instant sheād put the phone down - what theyād said.,
Normally sheād have been in a right old tizz about such a thing, but she forgot about it immediately.
(My heart sank, though - weād already been through it all once with FiL.š)
