Freya5 Morrisons is still there in Gib but I don’t remember seeing a bar just a nice cafe.

I’m anticipating what other supermarkets are planning to add too. Also slightly worried certain type of customers that will irritate shoppers and may cause trouble.

It’s not obligatory to drink alcohol in a bar, there are plenty of low or no alcohol drinks available in most of them, my usual half of shandy would be fine.

Well one would hope they would have more sense but we will see

Hmmm, hate to be a kill joy, but seeing as most people drive to a supermarket and may go alone, isn’t this going to increase the number of over the limit drivers?
Not everyone has a spouse to go with them.

I think it's to allow the staff to go to church without losing their job.

In fact any bar or cafe in a supermarket would be useful for parking the man in your life, then he couldn’t trail after you putting unwanted items in the trolley or ask why you’re buying something.

Then you'd end up with an inebriated man to deal with along with every other bum-ache that goes with supermarket shopping.

Fortunately I can trust DP to just have the one drink.He could sip it happily while reading the paper.

A local Waitrose has a Bar and a Bistro. It’s not for me - and neither seems busy when I have been in there - but some people may enjoy them.

Why not? I was recently on Porto in a large beautiful food market. So many people walking around with a glass of wine. I thought it was a great place, what a lovely shopping experience.

Can't see the same attraction with Lidl, but I can in Waitrose and M&S as long as you don't drive.

Yes I was quite disappointed when the one in M&S closed
I have no idea why, as it was always busy, quite often had to wait for a seat.

A bar in a supermarket in Northern Ireland?

Blimey!Things have changed since my first visit to Co. Down about 25 years ago when I went to Tesco to buy some wine to take to a party. I was almost spat at by the woman at the checkout who told me to take my alcohol to the end aisle which was segregated by being taped off!

I was glared ant and practically shoved through as though I was the anti-Christ.

If I want a drink during the day, I prefer somewhere with a better atmosphere than a supermarket add-on. Still, some people like a drink wherever they are, I suppose. I see it all the time - just give them one of the usual hook-words* and they'll follow like lemmings off a cliff.
* Prosecco (or any other well-known wine name), meet-up-with-the-girls, me-time, quick tipple ha-ha-ha, bubbly . . . .

Ridiculous idea. There are so many places like pubs clubs and off licences to buy/drink booze and too many alcoholics causing trouble in public.

Probably in the minority but think this is a ridiculous idea!! Lots of places to have alcohol without having to drink in a supermarket!!!!!!
