Good Morning Sunday 19th January 2025

Good morning Mick and everyone from frosty Carlisle, it was -1°C a little while ago.
Glad the op went well, Mick.

A pre-dawn start to get the paper yesterday. I walked across the park to the further convenience store, partly because the other only gets supplied with one or two copies of my favoured one, partly because I'm trying to increase my distances and get fitter. It's greatly improved since Morrison's took it over and I was pleased to find they actually had asparagus, to which I am addicted, and which I had forgotten to add to Friday's Tesco delivery.
It was very pleasant in the park, a few dog walkers, a few runners and lots of water birds busily breakfasting. Quite a different atmosphere from when I usually go after lunch. It really gave me a boost for the rest of the day.

Today I must spend time on some admin and then it will be reading...papers, magazines and maybe a new book. I'd like to get into the garden but that depends on the frost lifting. My snowdrops have suddenly popped up to gladden me every time I look out of my window.

Yesterday I pottered about and decided to make a chocolate cake from the Bero book. All was going well until I stood on a step stool to reach something on a high shelf. My leg gave way and down I crashed, banging my head on the floor. Then I had the issue of getting up. I was really shaken up and very cross with myself. Fortunately, I wasn't damaged. I think I'll need a physio appointment to try and build muscle tone in my leg.
Today I'm looking after dgs2 for a couple of hours while dgs1 is at a party. Dsil is working. Later I'll visit mum and see how she is doing. Haggis for dinner tonight as I didn't feel like all the faff yesterday. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a dull still Suffolk,much like the last couple of days.

So sorry to hear the sad newsBellas of your daughter’s young friend. I have 2 close friends who both lost a son to cancer,one of whom had 3 young children. They were both in their 40s and their families continue to be devastated.

DH is cooking partridges for dinner tonight. Although fewer this year we think,there are still local shoots here,so we are often given game. Luckily they are dressed usually! In the past,DH would do it quite skilfully.

Hope today is a peaceful one for all.

A grey start to the day and I am tempted to just stay in bed but need to put petrol in the car because I have an early start tomorrow with U3A and then a lunch so had best do it today. January feels long but will pass so I need to find a more positive frame of mind. Think I am missing a hug from the person who knew me best.

I must blitz the kitchen today, hob and oven, although the latter hasn’t had much use lately, it will later, roast chicken.
MrJ seems to be brewing a cold or something, Covid tested negative, he may not go to watch football.
Meat draw in the local later, I may go on my own, we’re due a win 🙂

Good morning everyone from a very dull and grey Northampton. I had nothing planned, but may go into town to get a replacement battery for my phone; apparently my phone has had an update which adversely affects battery performance, and am now entitled to a free new battery. We shall see.

A wonderful rugby match yesterday, culminating in a win for my team Northampton Saints, 34-32. A nail-biting last few minutes, but we did it! A brilliant atmosphere, and the red wine went down well.....

Today is DD's birthday 🎂 - 42 years ago today I was in hospital in Cyprus awaiting my epidural for my elective CS. Was glad to be awake for this one, as I was under general anaesthetic for DS's. A family celebration dinner is booked for next weekend.

Good morning from a cold very grey Cambridgeshire.

We are late getting moving today feeling very lazy. January is such a long cold month. Lovely to see the snowdrops appearing tho and beautiful hellebores, viburnum and mahonia. My garden is thriving.

We are planning a walk across the meadows around the river (hopefully not too muddy) and then a restful day with a chat to a friend later and lamb roast dinner.

Good morning all. 2deg. dry and calm in Glasgow this morning.

I slept a full nine hours last night and feel so refreshed this morning, something I haven’t felt in such a long time. My GP prescribed some Zopiclone, one of which I took at bedtime with positive results minus the groggy head side effect.
I plan to spend more time in the garden again today, my therapy and will continue sorting out what goes where in the new shed plus as the removal of the old shed gives me much more space in a full sun area my garden trolley will be used to move a selection of pots to benefit in a sunnier spot.

Belated happy birthday Borrheid and best wishes for a happy return of the day. 🎂
Such sad news Bella especially in one so young being robbed of a happy life with her young husband and son. Cancer is such a cruel disease, leaving devastated families in its wake.
Hoping you continue to feel better baubles 🤞 look after yourself.
The last thing you needed Grammaretto, to take a tumble over some thoughtless dog owners extended lead. There is always one at our local shops as they return from the nearby park! I would like to think someone came to your aid in retrieving your stick.
The Riverside museum is on my to do list along with the newly refurbished Burrell Museum.

Grandmabatty I hope you have recovered from yesterday’s fall. It sounded particularly nasty, does give one a shock as we don’t bounce back as quickly as we once did. Take it easy today.

Morning all - just a quick note to say thank you for all your good wishes yesterday. The day did not go as planned and we arrived home in Kent at 23.00. No surprises from my family, Facebook messages ( as you may know, prompted by FB!) only, a text from my son , no phone calls from anyone. And when we got home not a single card in the post! I am so disappointed. Maybe reaching 70 isn’t a big deal these days.
Sorry for the downer but again thanks for your kind messages. Marydoll was helping with her support

Good morning all, and I'm glad to hear your laser surgery went well Mick.
Such sad news Bella. Is it me, or is cancer in the young more prevalent? Racking my brains I can only think of hearing of one young person (she was 20, a few years older than me) dying of it when I was young. But my DD's late husband was only 32 when he was first diagnosed, and now my grandson has been diagnosed with ('a good') Leukaemia also aged 32. Or perhaps it's that news spreads wider these days.
I slept well last night - just at the wrong time! I went to bed at midnight but by 1.30 realised that sleep wasn't coming. So I put on my big fleecy oodie and sat cosily downstairs for another two hours. So my 'good' night was 3.30am until 9.00! That's no problem until it's a tai chi morning and I have to be up by 7.30. Oh well, as problems go, that's a minor one, and it isn't painful.
DGD3 has told me she's coming over tomorrow - she has been given a week off from her work as an Assistant Housekeeper (cleaner!) at her local Hydro and has no uni classes until Friday, so is looking to fill her time. I'd better get the house shipshape - she has developed an eye for detail 😂. Last time she was here she disappeared for about ten minutes (I thought she was in the loo) and I later discovered she had been prettifying the mound of bedding that I had dumped laid on the guest room bed! This time I intend to keep her occupied by helping me move some furniture 😉

Grammaretto thank you. If I lived in Scotland , I would join you. I have lived in the South East ( London & Kent) for 46 years. Sporadic visits to Marydoll’s neck of the woods only these days, as my mother is still going strong at almost 93. Still living in our family home of nearly 60 years!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp, grey and seems chilly out. Can you believe we didn’t wake up until 10am? Almost 11 hours of solid sleep. I’m sure I read somewhere that too much sleep isn’t good but I’m not going to overthink and find something new to worry about. You know me!

We’re nipping into the larder later for some groceries for my stepfather Duncan and then going over to fetch him for our Sunday meal together. I’ve booked a table at his favourite Italian restaurant.

Arrived home from Gran Canaria around 10.30pm last night. Oooh it felt so cold after constant 25 deg over there.

Not much planned today, just emptying cases and washing.
