When did you last clean your shoes?

My dad cleaned all the shoes in the house and my husband,who is almost paranoid about his shoes does mine too.I have a lot of boots and he,s great at checking them for me ,takes them for heeling and polishes them regularly .Its one job he enjoys .

I only ever wear Skechers, and if they get really messy I stick them in the washing machine.

Quite regularly. My DF was ex army, shoes had to be polished the night before school and set near the kitchen fire.
I do notice unpolished shoes.

Same. Fortunately MrA polishes all our shoes and boots on a fairly regular basis.

Neither of us wears plastic, apart from parts of our hiking boots. Some of our boots are about 20 years old but still going strong with regular heeling and polishing. Plus they fit like a glove now so really comfy.

This also reminds me of that playground rhyme when choosing something or someone in a game. your shoes are dirty, please go home and change them 😀

I cleaned my trainers today. They were muddy. I used Elbow Grease which I got from Poundland. It cleans almost anything. It's miraculous.

Dubbin for waterproofing the walking boots and polish in a tube for leather shoes.
I have five pairs of shoes in total and try to keep them for as long as I can as they are so expensive to start with.

OH polishes his black leather shoes every week, usually on a Sunday, though no longer because he’s getting ready for work on a Monday. 🙂

I only have two pairs of leather shoes - both black and I don’t wear either of them often but they both had an outing over Christmas so were properly cleaned with Kiwi wax and buffed up with an old wadded pair of tights. I remember the hours spent “bulling” parade shoes when in the Army until the leather shone like patent. It took weeks to get them like that. They were stored away in two layers of old tights to stop them getting scratched.

Trainers and Skechers go in the washing machine and walking shoes and boots are cleaned and proofed with NikWax products.

I cleaned two pairs of my boots just last night😃cleaned any dirt off then rubbed in neutral wax polish then buffed.

I clean mud off shoes/trainers/boots but then spray suede ones, or use the sponge tip creams for the leather ones.
I’m a bit idle and want the easiest way (or I wouldn’t do them often at all).
Can’t remember last time I ‘blacked’ any shoes or boots but my dad did it weekly.

I think my neighbours have a shoe cleaning session once a week. In my downstairs loo I can often smell whatever they are cooking, as their kitchen vent comes out near my loo vent. Sunday night is curry night, but Friday night the smell is of shoe polish.

Cleaning shoes is one of those little pleasure, or at least it used to be. Left hand is not behaving itself these days.
I had a couple of tins that had dried up and cracked, so I put the opened tin on a diffuser, on top of the gas ring, and gently melted it, let it cool and it was revitalised. Waste not, want not.

Yesterday I cleaned four pairs of long riding boots and my Dubarry's. The riding boots hadn't been worn since I had my accident and were covered in cobwebs but they all have lots of life in them (one pair was nearly new) so now I've given up riding I've decided to sell them. tbh I felt really sad. I've still got my competition gear and that needs to go too, end of an era! Cleaning muddy boots covered in grease from a horse's coat has been a regular job but sadly no more.

Can you remember being pressed to buy shoe cleaner/polish when you bought a new pair of shoes or boots in specialist shoe shops?
They were very expensive and I think the staff were told to hard sell the products.

I wear leather boots and clean them often using polish and brush. Trying to get coloured leather shoe polish has been difficult lately. I finally found an old cobbler shop with everything I needed and was really pleased. I honestly don’t think many people do clean shoes now as lots wear fabric shoes that can be washed.

I clean shoes boots etc every time I wear them they finish off overall appearance if going out socially.
We live in a very woody area and each time I go out with our dog my boots need a good clean.

I clean my shoes after every wear. Cannot bear dirty shoes.

Prefer not to say, too embarrassing. Always notice they need a clean when in the dentist chair!

I last cleaned a pair of shoes a week ago after falling in the ice even though it was on a grass area and finished up with dog poo on them, my coat and trousers also had to be washed. My inconsiderate neighbours had not picked the 💩 up.

I polished a leather handbag today.
It was on a pile of stuff to throw out, it's in perfect condition but the leather had scuffed so it needed a polish before it went to the charity shop.
Lo and behold, I found some navy cream in the shoe cleaning kit, which was still soft.

The handbag looks so good now I decided to keep it. 😀

When our flight was called there was a panic to find his shoes. Their sensors had detected something which might have been explosive. Just made the flight.
SO don't use liquid cleaner if you are going on a plane.

DH had his shoes (trainers) cleaned with disinfectant by airport staff before entering Australia. There may have been just a bit of dirt stuck in the ridges in the sole and it was during the UK foot and mouth outbreak.

I’ve just come back from a short walk round the culdesac, in my good old faithful, 10+ year old suede, fur lined boots. I give them a wipe-over now and then. That’s it. Same with my shoes
