Godsons 40th birthday

Probably a bottle of champagne. If you are particularly close and always done gifts on birthdays maybe £50 voucher maybe one of those that cover several shops and restaurants.

I stop giving money when my DCs are 20 or so. I think a bit embarrassing for them after that. For a 40th birthday I'd just give champagne.

£70 with a bottle of bubbly.

I would say £100.

I would think £40 cash or voucher and small present, chocs or booze and a nice card. A bit difficult to call, you could give £40 from each of you ie £80 plus small present and card(s)if you feel he warrants more as you are both god parents.

£40 seems like a nice gesture. Possibly with a bottle of red wine, Port, or even champagne. Depends on how much you want to spend.

Or my Godson who will soon by 60.

Do you normally give him a birthday gift? You could double that if you want to make it more special, I would probably think £50. Sounds a nice amount, perhaps a bottle of wine to go with it.

Depends on how close you are to him and how much disposable income you have. Could be £4, could be £400
