Regretted Purchases.

I have had one, because I was thinking of making a thread about it.

Obviously I didn't regret it enough because I've forgotten what it was.

I can't honestly think of anything though I do have a big tin of paint under the stairs given to me free by my local paint shop for our spare room as i was looking for a pinky mushroom colour (they had mixed it for someone but the shade was slightly "off"). It's a lovely pinky mushroom colour but just not quite right.

My daughter thought she might use it but obviously it can't be replicated so what I have is all there is!

I love my ricer!
Always regret not using it if I am in a hurry for mash.

I regret buying my flat.
I'm stuck with it, falling down around my ears.

We have a king sized bed and a super king duvet!
We need a lot "spare"

That's what we do too. I'm a very "hot" sleeper so have a 4.5 tog duvet all year round, with a warmer down one just in case the heating fails mid-winter.
Personally I'd rather have a cold bedroom and a thicker duvet, but my husband prefers a warmer room. Sometimes he has an extra duvet on top of him as well.

If your daughter likes it she could paint a bit of paper and get the colour replicated at B&Q using the Valspar system. So long as she doesn't change from your can to the new can mid-wall it should be fine.

An electric carving knife - it’s just too noisy. OH wanted a huge mincing contraption so that he could make burgers. And then promptly went vegetarian 🤦🏼‍♀️

I have ^no faith in the Valspar system cc unfortunately.
I have tried it with both a mustard and a green and it was a total waste of money.

I suggested she use my free paint on just a couple of walls but she doesn't want that.

Basically I think we are both usually pretty picky colour wise - In this case I thought I could just accept it as it was for a spare room.... I probably would have done when the children were small to be honest.

Miss Adventure regrets buying her flat and I regret buying my bungalow. It's very cold and takes a lot of money to warm it up. I'd like to sell it but I only own half and wouldn't be able to buy much with my half of the proceeds. I wish I could turn the clock back.

A rice cooker, must have used it twice and is years old, have just got so used to making it in a pan, my grown family keep telling me is easier but I find cooking rice in a pan easy too.

Best buy ever were a couple of electric over blankets with a fleecy lining for sitting watching telly etc., in cold weather.
Uses very little electric and we don't need the heating on unless is very cold.

Knitting yarn just because it's reduced. It's either not enough for a complete anything or is itchy or awkward to knit with or often all three!

A red dress - too short. Too lazy to send back.
A flared skirt - hem was wonky - too lazy to send back.
A leather jacket - too young for me. Still thinking I may look okay in it "one day". When! (I daren't tell my daughter).
A telescope - what was I thinking of!
A cardigan from Amazon - looked ok in the photo.
A ground feeder for birds - it attracted rats!
And lots more .....

A bread maker sitting in the spare bedroom wardrobe! Bought in lockdown but OH massacres any loaf if he has to cut a slice and prefers supermarket sliced. I eat one slice a day so was throwing more away than was eaten. Now I cannot give the damned thing away.

A very expensive dress and shoes bought for a special garden party. It might as well go to the charity shop as I will never wear it again.

I bought a dress from a company named Roman in the summer. I tried it on and thought it looked “just ok”
Then I forgot about it.
Saw it in the wardrobe and tried it on again.
It is the worst fitting dress ever and down to my ankles.
Too late now to send it back so to a charity shop it will go ( when I get round to it)

About 20 years ago I bought a big carpet shampoo machine. I've used it once, it's far too heavy for me to cope with. It looms malevolently in a corner of the garage ..

I bought a beautiful and expensive cabin holdall for holidays, just before they brought in the maximum-size rules on planes; it's in our "cupboard in the wall" in the spare room, never seen the light of day.

I'm another who's ditched the potato ricer, although I would love to be able to use one. Couldn't seem to exert the necessary pressure to get the cooked potatoes through the holes.

I thought I'd model myself on a renowned lady gardener who uses a Stihl cordless garden pruner (like a mini chainsaw). DH gave me one for my birthday and I let him have first go attacking a shrub. He was engulfed in a flurry of jagged wood splinters and we both instantly lost our nerve. I think it's too grown up for us. Now it lurks in the garage reproaching me every time I go in there.

It’s better to regret buying kitchen gadgets than a house!! Oh dear.

Am glad I’m not the only one with buying regrets.

Last week I bought in a Sainsbury’s sale a pair of silver ankle boots that I thought might be rather good fun. They turn out to have kitten heels and very long pointed toes. I rather think that I may look a bit of an idiot in them. The family will have to put up with me wearing them at Christmas but I can’t think where else of whenever I might wear them.

Sky dancer -I think leather jackets can be worn at any age. I am 82 and have both a black one and a blue one I wear both regularly. They look better than old lady cardigans and look good over dresses or trousers, they are warm and comfortable. So are likely to be warn for many more years!

I bought a Mia Tui rucksack/cross-body bag - it is awful! It is very heavy, even with nothing in it and slips off my shoulders. Total waste of money.

There is less and less I can buy locally, our little town is full of charity shops and coffee shops, so I buy more and more on-line. That way I’ve bought a too big Hoover, too small lawn mower, clothes which don’t fit, gadgets which don’t work, unsuitable stuff, unexpected stuff, the wrong colour/size/sort, things nothing like advertised/poor quality/don’t work.
A hundred years ago every little town was entirely self-sufficient, now I can’t see anything before I buy.

I’ve got a potato ricer which I actually use all the time. Also have a spiraliser which hasn’t been used in years.

I have a feeling I'm going to regret last Thursdays purchase. For some reason unknown to man I decided I had to have a pair of pink sparkly boots from M and S that were in the children's department but went up to size 6. The size 5 fitted me perfectly...I am going to be 70 in December 😂😂😂..they are still lurking in a bag on the back seat of the car. I haven't plucked up the courage to show DH yet...he already thinks I'm completely ditsy. ( I think he might be right)
