Anyone else think it's too tight even for her figure?

Anniebach Fri 25-Oct-24 20:35:40

Just seen clip from the programme on uTube, do not like the dress

I actually liked her when she was on countdown thought she looked lovely. But now gone ott with her fillers etc. I will say she’s got a good figure works out a lot so good for her,

I think Carol wore two different dresses, the mirrored one on the Red Carpet, and a body- con silver one to present the show.

Both here :

Now we know why.

There was an angry Gransnetter waiting in the wings shouting "Oi, Carol, that's my dress, take it off!" So they had to find Carol another one in a hurry.

Carol Vorderman is a wonderful, intelligent and independent woman.
How she dresses, and what cosmetic surgery is her business.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of women who go out of their way to criticise other women for the way they look, and how they dress.
Women are being sidelined out of our lives, our work, our sports, and our spaces; we should be standing shoulder to shoulder.

Yes! It was the second dress that was very tight

Well, fashion advice is to play up your good features, and she was "rear of the year" at one point, cossy.

I didn't see the programme, so unless it was the dress on this thread, then I don't know what I'm talking about --as always--

😂😂😂😂😂

I think Vorderman has done a great job speaking out about the menopause and other important topics. What she wears is her business.

Hear,hear Babs03!😊 She's a fabulous woman. 👌

I’ll be honest, I thought she looked truly awful! She’s an attractive woman, why she doesn’t just age gracefully is beyond me!!

Absolutely agree. She used to look good but no longer.

Do you mean the silver dress she wore at this year's Pride of Britain? Sorry don't know how to post a picture.

"Ease" was more important when fabrics were largely woven (and didn't incorporate stretch synthetics). These days glamorous fabrics are just as often knitted so have generally got a natural stretch regardless of fibre - and I guess most contain elastane too.

Years ago dresses got deep creases if a bit tight - and in those cases we definitely needed some "ease". These days our clothes can often fit well just by being stretchy.

Even woven silks are often including 5% stretch these days.

^Naughty Carol, copying my dress. I wore it last year of course.^

jasper16 she must have picked it up after you'd sent it to your local charity shop 😉

It's in my huge walk in closet filed away under G for Glam.

So is it the bright blue dress or the silver dress???
The dresses are both ok but those cheek bones could cut a slice of cheese

JenniferEccles Fri 25-Oct-24 14:17:08

I’m thinking back to when Carol first appeared on Countdown when she would have been in her late twenties or early thirties I guess.

Back then she was an attractive young woman, but attractive in a natural way, long before she had all these dreadful face lifts and fillers. She is now unrecognisable from those early days.

The dress in question here is ok in that it doesn’t expose acres of bare flesh like a lot of other dresses she has been photographed in.

Notagranny44 Fri 25-Oct-24 14:03:48

Yes, Valdavi the whole concept of "ease" in clothing seems to have completely disappeared over the last decades. Everyone seems to wear their dresses straining around their boobs and bums when an inch or two of extra fabric in the garment would make it both more flattering to the figure and more comfortable to wear!

Farzanah Fri 25-Oct-24 14:01:33

Dress seems ok to me but bitching about other women still in vogue.

Allira has posted the correct dress. It's stunning. as is she. Beauty and brains. I don't care how she attains it that's her choice.

Yeah, I agree, she looks great!

I sort of agree with Polwal, she looks pretty good in (the dress Alira posted). But she could've looked even better if it had had just a bit of ease & drape in it, not loose just not skin-tight.

But I used to wear dungarees & pinafores back when I did have a decent figure, so I'm ignorant about these things.

A few years ago I saw her walking the coastal path in Pembrokeshire. She was all in black - everything skin tight - it was not a good look. She lived near there at that time

Cossy Fri 25-Oct-24 12:26:25

Her figure is fabulous.
She isn't showing anything at all in the dress, other than highlighting her shape. smile

Her figure is amazing, but the dress was very tight when she walked, especially around her bottom haha. I’d love to have her figure, but she’s clearly had lots of surgery and she didn’t need it! Simon Cowell looks pretty mad now with his surgery and/or Botox.

Cossy Fri 25-Oct-24 12:24:32

Having said that, she and Ashley Banjo were great presenters and the programme and the award recipients brought tear to my eye!
