Yes, Valdavi the whole concept of "ease" in clothing seems to have completely disappeared over the last decades. Everyone seems to wear their dresses straining around their boobs and bums when an inch or two of extra fabric in the garment would make it both more flattering to the figure and more comfortable to wear!

I’m thinking back to when Carol first appeared on Countdown when she would have been in her late twenties or early thirties I guess.

Back then she was an attractive young woman, but attractive in a natural way, long before she had all these dreadful face lifts and fillers. She is now unrecognisable from those early days.

The dress in question here is ok in that it doesn’t expose acres of bare flesh like a lot of other dresses she has been photographed in.

So is it the bright blue dress or the silver dress???
The dresses are both ok but those cheek bones could cut a slice of cheese

It's in my huge walk in closet filed away under G for Glam.

"Ease" was more important when fabrics were largely woven (and didn't incorporate stretch synthetics). These days glamorous fabrics are just as often knitted so have generally got a natural stretch regardless of fibre - and I guess most contain elastane too.

Years ago dresses got deep creases if a bit tight - and in those cases we definitely needed some "ease". These days our clothes can often fit well just by being stretchy.

Even woven silks are often including 5% stretch these days.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of women who go out of their way to criticise other women for the way they look, and how they dress.
Women are being sidelined out of our lives, our work, our sports, and our spaces; we should be standing shoulder to shoulder.

Now we know why.

There was an angry Gransnetter waiting in the wings shouting "Oi, Carol, that's my dress, take it off!" So they had to find Carol another one in a hurry.

I actually liked her when she was on countdown thought she looked lovely. But now gone ott with her fillers etc. I will say she’s got a good figure works out a lot so good for her,

I've never really understood what other people mean by 'aging gracefully'. Does it just mean you accept you're getting wrinkly, saggy skin and live with it? Or does it mean you make the best of what you've got to look as good as you can?

Is not malicious, honestly, but I just feel she was naturally very attractive and didn’t need surgery etc. to stay looking good.

Of course woman should stick together, but if you’re in the public eye strutting your stuff then comments will be made.

For me, aging gracefully means acceptance that you are older, nothing wrong with making the very best of your natural assets, wearing make up, choosing flattering dresses, going to the gym, colouring your hair, having your nails done, but once one crosses the surgical line it seems to become addictive, look at Katie Price, or the poor young women who end up totally botched and even dead!

Dear lord, do we HAVE to tear women apart for their clothing choices? Really?

I didn’t watch the show, and can’t get the video to load, so haven’t seen the silver dress. The spotty dress looks good on Carol, would look dreadful on me though. Which is okay because I don’t like it anyway, it’s not my cup of tea. But I think it’s a good dress for the red carpet, because it’s quite glamorous, but doesn’t rely on being barely there to get attention, so I think she chose well.

Not that she cares what I think.

I'm not a fan of hers at all but I like the dress, it's lovely and I think it suits her.

At least she's actually wearing it, unlike some people that walk around in public in barely anything!
