To make an excuse or not?!

Yeah as others say just let it go. There are good friends and then there are friendly acquaintances who hover on the periphery talking about getting together etc., but never really meaning it.
Have to admit have done this myself when parting with a friendly acquaintance, making sone vague suggestion we meet up for coffee or lunch and they have said the same then we don’t see other for ages.
Best to take it with a pinch of salt.

I think there are different kinds of people. Some probably are excuses and they just can't do straight talking or deal with it better. Other people just genuinely don't get round to doing things.

I would consider it a lucky escape. If they are that unreliable at the start of a friendship, they will get worse rather than better.
