South Oxfordshire: A lot of rain, but at intervals. A local town had flooded streets yesterday.

I have looked at the Lightening map www.lightningmaps.org/#m=oss;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=0.00;ts=0;z=8;y=52.1773;x=-0.7663;d=2;dl=2;dc=0; and it shows current activity is centred on Milton keynes, but moving southwards. Also the bay of Biscay and the south of France!

Cool, grey and dry in Carlisle, even a glint of sun occasionally. Previous days have been pleasantly warm and sunny. No rain for days.

Yesterday, here in North Leicestershire. we had temperatures of 20° with bright sunshine at around 2.30.

A couple of hours later it we were in the midst of a thunderstorm with black skies and lightning flashes. The rain continued all night.

Apparently, tomorrow will be similar.

It's a warm 18 degrees here in Bristol. We've had 2 days of more or less non stop torrential rain but so far no thunder. There's no wind either, which makes a change in this neck of the woods. The sunsets, between the ominous clouds, have been spectacular over the Severn.

Here in Bristol it’s been rain, rain and more rain and the same is forecast for the rest of the day and all day tomorrow. My pampas grass is flat on the ground.

We’re at friends, apparently at home 17 miles up the road in south Glos it’s been largely dry 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm in South Gloucestershire and it's been incredibly wet here all day.

no rain here, west scotland have had lovely blue skies all week a wee bit duller this morning but sunny later on

Saturday was awful here; and today. But - miracle of miracles yesterday afternoon and evening were dry, mild and still for my SIL's 50th outdoor birthday party - phew!

We had a party outside yesterday lunchtime with just a very short shower, though it rained hard overnight.

Yes, we're in west London too, we've had a couple of short storms and I'm seeing lightein the distance though I can't hear any thunder.

Truly shocking here in Northamptonshire. We've had thunderstorms on and off since yesterday afternoon and rain on a biblical scale. I can't remember it ever being this bad - garden and road flooded yet we're quite high up and not in a flood plain. Never mind - we're safe, warm and waterproof [so far!]

Loads of rain in mid Wales, but no thunder and lightning since last night. The sky is very sullen though, it looks like it will be raining for hours yet.

Dry with sunny spells bit overcast now on my part of the South Coast, Hampshire.

No storms in S Hampshire at all, the odd shower and in the 20’s.

Bluebelle, it is still 20 degrees here and I think that's why the lightning is so scary as it is constant.

The rain is so heavy again that there is an inch and half of water on top of the patio at all times which is illuminated every minute or so by the lightning. My husband said he turned the lights off in the house last night and just sat in the kitchen watching the storm and all the outside lights turning off and on!

We had a scary thunderstorm on Friday, here in Surrey.
(Aldershot had a tornado)

I stepped outside our back door when there seemed to be a lull, only for an almighty flash and bang to explode right overhead.
I think I diced with death there!

Wise after the event, I googled for advice and found "Staying safe in a lightning thunderstorm" at redcross.org.uk

It's very interesting but I don't think I could crouch down with my hands on my knees and my head in between them if I was outdoors away from shelter!

Drove from Wales to Cornwall in sunshine yesterday, heavy rain during the night, warm sunny but damp today, no actual rain and still blue skys. I apologise about the previous odd post pressed the wrong tab on the key board !
