This again. It was either on here or Mumsnet. Of course there are people with money. There is a new estate in my town of over 3,000 houses. A significant amount sold for over £500000 and are now worth over £1million. But these are not the people who are struggling. The people who are struggling are either not going to the concert or have used credit cards pushing themselves into debt.

You can't tell people how to spend their money. I would not pay £1.00 to attend their gigs.

We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at our party this Saturday night and I will ask the DJ to play some Oasis songs. We live in Manchester so I bet there will be many rousing renditions!

People are always moaning about the cost of living and that they can’t put food on the table, or pay their energy bills. And it’s these people (not all of them I may add!) who may smoke or vape or need beer/wine in the fridge as a part of their life. They also want the state to continually support their lifestyle. Get priorities right and they’ll all manage!

I'm not a fan but if it were Cold Play £400 a ticket wouldn't put me off; not sure about Mr. S. though .

We have become like India which was known as a poor country with some very rich people except that we are a very rich country with some very poor people. And there is usually some rational explanation of why some are not so well off as others.

I agree about all the Oasis, Taylor Swift and other hype. But if we say that people are entitled to spend their own money however they wish then we have to say they can spend it on private medicine and education without being enviously grumpy.

Or people who prioritise gigs over other things.
It's hardly beyond what a normal person could spend on clothes, breaks, days out, etc.

Most people do not have the money for concerts. I know people who would love to see Oasis but cannot afford it. Its only those people who have plenty of money (the rich) that will be going.

My husband's younger son has managed to get tickets for his partner and himself. They live in Spain so not only do they have the extortionate ticket cost, they also have flights to pay for, and are staying with us during their trip but only because no hotel rooms are available!

I really hope they have a wonderful time.

Personally I prefer tribute bands; cheap, small venues, play all the songs you actually want to hear, and don't have an album to plug (so you're not forced to listen to new stuff which isn't nearly as good as the old).

Different people have different priorities, hence a thread a whole ago about fine dining.

If I was well, I would always go to a gig rather than a restaurant, or even a holiday.

Exactly, my friends daughter was borrowing money last month as they were hard up, she’s dismayed to hear her bragging on Sunday she’d queued for over 6 hours and got four tickets at nearly £500 each 🤦‍♀️ next July 25th for themselves and two teenage children. I know what I’d say next time their on the borrow

I tried but after leaving the app open for 7 hours finally got to the ticket page to find that the only ones left were accessible tickets with a free carer 🙄 By that point it was just an exercise in seeing how long it would take.
I wouldn’t have paid much more than £100 tho I’m not a mega fan, just love stadium gigs.
However, I am at the age that if I don’t see some if my favourites again now then there mightn’t be another chance so have happily paid big bucks for Genesis and Bruce Springsteen.

I saw many, many 60s stars too BlueBelle including The Beatles four times, Stones twice, The Kinks, Tom Jones, Cilla, Gene Pitney, Animals. Too many to list. Happy days.

We were so lucky, in at the beginning of the greatest music era of all time (in my opinion).

So was I Bluebelle, what an era, you bopped till you dropped. I have seen every star appearing at the Batley Variety Club. I had an autograph book filled with all the stars names, my aunt and uncle ran the theatre where they appeared and let me meet them and get their autographs. Goodness knows where it is now. I don't blame anyone for paying what they can afford to see something that may never happen again in their lifetime. I wish I could go back and do it all again.

.....and in the past people have cast aspersions at me for admitting we love going to Glynebourne. We didn't go this year but tickets would have cost us between £100-£300 each- and with NO dynamic pricing, Pocket money prices compared with all these pop concerts.

And we take a picnic, drive there and back, park for free, and stay overnight in a small inexpensive B&B.

There is also a lot of trust in the concerts going ahead a year from now. Maybe its me that's missing something here?

I took it out when we booked tickets for Elton John's farewell tour.
Between Covid delays and Elton having an accident, it was five years from booking the tickets until the concert finally took place!
