Clearly, irresponsible and couldn't care less about fines, you will never change him. I was caught doing 34 in a 30 mph zone, went on awareness course, didn't learn anything I knew before I attended, upside - no penalty points.

You could contact the dvla yourself.

The courts have discretion.

That’s what I thought! In the UK it’s usually a minimum of 6 months.

There’s speeding and there’s SPEEDING. I’ve twice been caught driving at 37-38 mph in what I thought was a 40 zone but it was 30
The 2nd speed awareness course was excellent. I came away much clearer about recognising the indicators which aren’t always easy to see in area you aren’t familiar with. It’s a pity your husband hasn’t learned from the courses. The fact he’s done so many suggests he isn’t exceeding the limit by a lot.

Best of luck - if he’s driving dangerously and speeding all the time, I think I’d insist on driving if we were out together

We now have a car that flashes red on the dashboard if you exceed a speed limit, they is also an alarm sound if you don’t slow down, very soon all new cars will be regulated to the speed limit.

I don't think you can stop him , but you can control, whether or not your a passenger .

Tell him you want a divorce on the grounds that you no longer want to live with a potential murderer.

Hopefully his license will be suspended before he kills or injures somebody.

There is probably not a lot you can do, except dont get in a car with him, selfish people tend never to admit they are wrong.

So if you have an iPhone you dont need to buy specialist equipment.

Yes, mine’s on my car’s satnav, but I’d use my phone otherwise. I would think there’s a similar system if you have an android phone? I think an audible alert is good even if you’re not prone to speed, because it keeps you fully focussed.

In which case, he is a bad driver, in more ways than one.

The only person I know[not as bad as your DH] at speeding, stopped, when he got a job driving!

My S-in-Law is similar - at one point she was on 12 points - she drives everywhere at 40mph (even on motorways) but her points are all acquired on local roads, so she can’t claim to not know the speed limit is 30mph,
Mind you, her sons are now telling her to give up driving, but rural Cheshire and buses are few and far between.

I am sure you have told him that speed limits are there for a reason. Loads of people seem to exceed them these days.

I live on a road with a 30mph limit but when I keep to it I almost invariably get people overtaking, driving too close, flashing their lights or even honking.

I find these aggressive drivers particularly tiresome at night when they have their headlights on full beam even though the road is well let.

He is irresponsible and shouldn't be driving. He may kill somebody.

I’ve got a satnav which beeps at you when you exceed the speed limit, that might work for him. Sometimes you need it, because of variable speed limits. I drove down to Swansea this morning, and there were 17 different speed limits on a six mile stretch - I was counting as I couldn’t believe how many there were the last time I drove that road - it would be very easy to get caught in those circumstances however good a driver you are. Another alternative is that you refuse to go in the car with him, and take over the driving yourself, then you won’t need to worry about him speeding, if you think he drives dangerously.

There are only so many times you can take the awareness course. Then points are taken and he is banned.

Some cars have a high speed alert feature that makes a sound if you exceed the speed limit. I think you can also have something fitted to the car or use an app.

This doesn’t necessarily mean he will heed the warning of course.

You can’t. It’s called taking responsibility and not breaking the law/speed limits.
Just like children there is only so much you can say.

Maybe he needs to give up driving!
