Iām not referring to the Always pads advert for bladder leaks š but being able to move on/put it behind you when you realise youāve done something silly.
A few days ago I went to the Range to buy some gardening stuff and as it started to rain quite heavily when I got home I left the bag in the boot of the car and made a dash for the door.
I didnāt bother getting it in until the following afternoon and thatās when I realised I must have left the tomato feed and the houseplant spray bottle at the checkout and they were the things I actually went for in the first place. If only Iād unpacked the shopping immediately there would have been time to nip back and hopefully claim them.
Iām so cross with myself for not paying proper attention at the checkout and I know itās not the end of the world as was not really much money to waste. Iām also cross with the checkout girl for not calling me back as there was nobody else behind me so she must have noticed.
Are you one of those who can just shrug and move on or are you harder on yourself than others?
And I wonāt be telling DD or sheāll think itās the start of the slippery slope! š
I HAVE NOT HAD MY GRANSNET DAILY YET TODAY - IS THERE A PROBLEM? THANK YOU.
I do so many stupid things that I couldnāt possibly fret about them all. I give myself a frequent talking to but it doesnāt work.
One of my favourites is when I put the Sunday joint in the ice box of the fridge.
I looked everywhere, rang the store, looked in the freezer but not in the ice box. Why would I? That was for ice cream.
We had sausages. I found it weeks later. We didnāt eat ice cream often!

Oh, I find it very hard to 'let it go'. I find myself lying in bed at night fretting about something I've said or done from years ago - and which was probably of little consequence at the time and even less so now. No-one is harder on themselves than I am.
This has been happening to me a lot recently, itās turned out to be a symptom of depression! And so has my recent forgetfulness.

I walked into a road sign on Tuesday and fell flat on my back. Big bruise and cut bridge of nose. Road sign fine.
I slipped on ice some years ago and knocked myself out hitting my head on a parking meter š
I still laugh about it now when Iām reminded of it.
And no,I never fret about anything. I made a £200 blooper a few weeks back by ordering the wrong shade of curtain material.
I was annoyed with myself over the material but as my partner always says: are we going to hungry, are we going to be cold, no.
Pre mobile phones early 70's, I was driving on the motorway in a rain storm when my windscreen wipers packed up. The RAC refused to come out because the car was not disabled. We got home by tying thread to the ends of the wiper blades and feeding it into the car for DD to pull on the threads to work the wipers. Fortunately we were only a few miles from home. I have never forgiven RAC and still hold a grudge after all these years

Contact them and just put it down to '1 of those silly things' . Ohhhh there isn't enough room here to type out the silly things I have done over time, i laugh about it and carry on with life. Don't beat yourself up, its not worth it......

Slightly off track, but my fingers were a bit swollen and while out shopping in Asda I moved my engagement ring onto my little finger where it felt safe. Got home and no engagement ring. I raced back to Asda to ask at Customer Service. And there it was. Some kind lady had found it among the loose vegetables and handed it in. My heart had been beating unbelievably fast and it took a few minutes for me to calm. Unfortunately Asda had not taken the lady's details. I would so have wanted to thank her. Most things get handed in and most people are honest.
My faith in people is strong. It always had been.
So pleased that it was handed in. Losing my rings would break my heart, and yes, I know they are only āthingsā.
But very special āthingsā.
Can imagine how your heart was pounding, and I bet you could hardly believe your luck!
Hope you had a Merlot. Gran.
Me too
Lifeās too short
Really pleased for you Merlotgran.

I wouldnāt let it go without doing everything in my power to put it right, if all else fails have a glass of wine. š·
I can do both!! Following the advice on here I phoned the Range not expecting the items to still be at the checkout as it was three days ago but they were!!!
I will pick them up tomorrow and tonight I will celebrate with š· š.
I will also give myself a hard time for not having enough faith to contact them earlier. š¤š¤Ø
Well done! Cheers!
My bete noir is leaving the hob on when I have finished cooking which of course is very dangerous. I make sure that when I am cooking I am standing by the cooker or doing something in the kitchen while things cook on the hob. When I am finished I not only switch off the hob rings but also the main cooker at the wall. And, if I go out, I double check all plug sockets and anything that could be left on. I walk around romancing and miss essentials which is very bad of me.
I have made some mistakes lately but I wonāt let them go I am very stubborn. If it was me I wouldnāt ring the supermarket I would go back with my receipt. If the products had been put on customers services you might well get them back itās worth a try.
No I wouldnāt be able to let it go. So pleased the items were still there.

Always worth checking with shops if you leave something behind.
I would be cross with myself for doing something silly or forgetful but not for long.

Although I must admit, I only opened this thread because I thought it was about unrequited love.
Bit disappointed it was about tomato feed.
But Iāll let it go.

i used to be the type to worry and lay awake at night thinking i should have said that or i should have done that, getting myself worked up because i left the pack of expensive roast beef in the trolly at morrisons, but after having 2 different cancers at 54 and 55 and getting past the 5 years, i am now 62 and my attitude has changed so much, today i sat on the couch with my kindle and some popcorn, the hoovering can wait, so can the bathroom cleaning, after being widowed twice (last time 3 years ago). i now only have myself to please. when a surgeon tells you that you have 6 months to live and you may not survive the operation.....that pack of roast beef does not matter...i can have toast and beans...life is to short and not worth the energy of worrying...ps i will hoover tomorrow or the next day.

Yes I would definitely contact them. Mr J went to the supermarket and forgot his wallet and they put the items to one side whilst he came home for his wallet. Most places I find are very obliging so worth asking.
Me too Kadinsky
I would also give them a ring.
I left an avocado at Tescos one day, didnāt notice it in the checkout tray.
Realised when preparing tea I hadnāt got it!
Enquired next day, assuming the next customer would have popped it in their bag, but no, it was behind the reception desk!
Oh ye of little faith!
So worth asking. If not there, donāt beat yourself up, you canāt do anymore, but if you donāt ask, youāll just wonderā¦
