We booked a whole package holiday to Santorini with BA, so flights, transfers & hotel. A week before we managed to get away they informed DH that they are not flying back to Gatwick on the day we are supposed to be traveling, The 16/7/24, Only offer was day before or day after which really wasn’t an alternative to us, anyhow DH managed to get us a easyjet flight back same day as close to original time to fly. We got some difference in cost refunded to us but still out of pocket by £30-40. Only to read today that BA are laying on extra flights from Heathrow to Berlin for the football. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 finals! Seems like these flights returning could be the same date we are flying back? Our flight with BA could be cancelled for extra flights to Berlin. Reported that people are willing to pay £600 just for flights. 😠

An unfortunate coincidence I think, assuming you went around the 10th, the notification to your husband about the 3rd. England had just got through to the quarter finals, so unless BA have a crystal ball.

What a shame you couldn't stay the extra day... But there is something odd going on with BA?
We had an email notification from BA in May that our flights and hotel package in Portugal (for the beginning of Sept) has been changed.
The return flight completely cancelled, so they planned to send us to Madrid, leave in the morning wait around for several hours then back to Gatwick, a complete waste of a day as it would take ages to get back to Gatwick.
So we didn't get much option as they have given us advance notice.

Then about 4 weeks ago we got an other email to say the flight from Madrid was also cancelled!
That's twice now, after a phone call from us they have had to supply us with an extra night in our hotel and returning a day later from original planned airport in Portugal at no extra cost. So it's worked out well as we get an extra night and almost extra day as we don't have to leave early morning now.

My daughter and SiL had their return flight from Menorca cancelled (BA) 10 days before they flew out. They had to come home a day early as they had work commitments so couldn't stay on for an extra day.

Very disappointing when you wait a long time for a holiday and then find it's cut short through no fault of your own.

BA are beginning to look like the Ryanair of scheduled airlines.
