Good Morning Thursday 13th June 2024

Good morning from an unexpectedly sunny Suffolk after a grey but dry day yesterday. We were late home last night and not in bed til midnight,which hasn’t happened for years so I haven’t yet read your posts.

Thank you so much for all your happy birthday greetings yesterday. They were such a part of my lovely day. The concert last night was absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. The music was much that I knew from hearing it as a child and from well known jazz/ swing performers,the band and the 3 vocalists were excellent.

DH remembered that we had seen the band called ‘Down for the Count’ at Snape a few years ago as the leader pianist had announced at the start that mobile phones were not allowed on stage but he had permission to have his as his wife was about to go into labour. He was shaking hands and saying goodbye to the sell out audience at the end of the concert. I briefly mentioned this to him and his daughter is now nearly 3.

We couldn’t fit the concert in time wise because of the COVID restrictions during that time.

Back now to my Thursday stretch class and a lunch with 3 dear friends at a fish restaurant near Lowestoft. Hope today is a good one for all.

Yesterday didn’t go to plan as Twin 2 was uncharacteristically quiet and lethargic all morning so I was really worried about him. He had a long sleep which did him good but I stayed after DD3 got home as I felt she could do with an extra pair of hands. I didn’t get to the shops but it’s not important.

Thankfully both boys seem to be fine today. What a relief.

Glad to hear the little cat is doing well Ash. I do miss having a cat but my dog does not like them.

Good morning and the sun is shining here in Essex. Still chilly though.

Today I’m meeting my two school pals at the Olympic Park in Stratford. We’ll have a longish coffee , a walk around the grounds and then a longish lunch. One of the ‘girls’ will be off to France for the summer after being in Oz for 4 months. We have to grab our time with her while she’s in the UK.

DS1 and DIL popped in for a cuppa last evening. Dgd2 has finished her A levels and feels all went well. She doesn’t want to go to Uni so is undecided about her future. They don’t get much help from schools anymore , with career advice.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A couple of degrees warmer than yesterday and no rain forecast until this evening.
A usual Thursday of housework and shopping.
I am a fan of Inside No 9 too Llfl and haven't seen the last episode yet. I've been a bit disappointed with the final series so far though. I've been watching the Sunak interviews which are just as surreal 😳

Yesterday I headed for town early, bought the birthday present and was back by ten. As I was watering the garden, my neighbour came across with two rhubarb scones and three chocolate oats biscuits for me. We were chatting and another set of neighbours passed and joined in too. I live in a lovely, friendly street. In the afternoon I met up with friends for coffee and a blether. One of them is waiting for her knee operation. I was thinking of Mizuna who won't have long now. Unfortunately my friend has at least a year to wait and is heavily reliant on a stick. Dgs1 met his teacher yesterday and loved school. Apparently he had his hand up lots to answer questions about the book they were reading. I love his enthusiasm.
Today I will be pottering. I have a washing on and hope to get it out and dry before the rain sets in. I will make lasagne for dinner, I think. Otherwise, some reading and I will make a wreath for the dining room for summer. Have a good day all.

Arts Society this morning. As it’s our last meeting of the year, fizz and cupcakes will also feature, sabotaging my diet (again).
I should be at my course on the architecture of social housing this afternoon but I feel bad if I have to leave Rosie for an afternoon when I’ve been out all morning so I’ll Zoom it instead.

Electrician due to finish lights then a massive tidy up. Gardener coming as usual this afternoon, but I may miss him, as I’m taking Little Dog to the groomer and picking up DGS1 from school.
Had blood test results yesterday - cholesterol up and I’m on the edge of pre-diabetes. Probably due to my age and increased weight, so it’s in my hands to do something about the latter.

Good morning from my bit ot reasonably bright South Lanarkshire. Early for me but I’m off to Connel this morning to spend a long weekend with DD3 and her family, I can’t wait.The weather looks mixed but I just want to be with them, especially my two grandchildren. DGS has finished his Nat 5’s and DGD is just completing her first year at high school so lots to chat about.

I too have been concerned about Taichinan, she had been feeling a bit down I think. If you’re reading fellow gran, just say hello, you are missed.

Good morning everyone from a sunny south Manchester. A lovely start to the day. I’m going over to our daughter and son in law’s to sit in and await delivery of some new furniture as they are all out at work and school. No idea how many hours I shall be there as a decorator is calling in too ‘at some stage’ to provide a quote.

No hardship for me - tea, coffee, iPad and Kindle will be at the ready! #lazygran

We are going out for a meal this evening. Thursday = date night and tonight we’ve invited the two brothers of Himself with their wives so it will be jolly as they Josh one another constantly.

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, but the clouds are building up.

I’ve been out with the dog already this morning as she spotted some rabbits at the bottom of the drive and was going crazy looking out of the window at them.

MissOops is here as she’s got a sickness bug so I’m on nursing duty, poor thing has been sick for 48 hours so I might need to call her GP when they open.I’m trying to get fluids into her but nothing stays down.

OH and I are off to Oxford this morning. There is an exhibition at the Ashmolean we would like to see and a diptych borrowed from the National Gallery which I’ve seen before. We will have lunch and then buy some new pillows.

Tonight we will watch the final episode of Number 9, which was on last night!

We have DGS2 today rather than on Tuesday as DD has some work event on so she took Tuesday off in lieu. She is tired as she has had work calls twice this week at 7am from Australia. We will take him to his drama tots class. DH will come too as I am too arthritic to get down on the floor with GS.

Good morning from my patio in Cornwall, where I'm sitting under thick cloud and very light rain. Lovely and cool. I want to venture to St Ives and get on the Coaster bus to Penzance. Stunning views but a lot of sitting, maybe too much; I need to consult my knee. The op is two weeks tomorrow, wow! In Asda's café yesterday a lady with shorts and a long, newish knee scar - same op as I'm waiting for - said she'd just been out with her walking group. That's me too in due course. 🏃‍♀️

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s decidedly cool.

Not a lot to report today. I spent yesterday afternoon making more bracelets for my DGDs then a bit later a couple of friends and I had a pleasant evening chatting over tea and cake. One is going through a rough time and enjoys the respite from her troubles I think.

Today will find its own path, what happens is often dictated by the weather.

Had a long talk with my best friend who is not in good shape at the moment. I have walking group this morning if the weather holds and then lunch with DD.

Good morning from a sunny South Downs - due to rise to a massive 15c today. Not exactly flaming June is it!

Yesterday we spent 2-3 hours strolling around Wakehurst amongst the trees. It was beautiful, quiet and peaceful with the birds trilling away. The mansion is having its roof replaced so we were unable to have a poke around in there, but the walled garden was looking good and the coronation meadows absolutely beautiful. They also have an American prairie which looks as if it will be eye catching once it flowers.
We also had a rest under the redwood that gets lit up at Christmas and you can see as you fly into Gatwick.

This morning I want to pot up my heavenly bamboo and feed the dahlias. One dahlia has started flowering - it is a startling colour - difficult to describe - I guess I shall get used to it.
This afternoon I’m having afternoon tea at Glyndbourne with a few friends. We meet up every quarter. Last time we had afternoon tea at The Brighton Grand, and the poor waitress emptied a tray of champagne all over one of us. That was an interesting tea!

Good morning everyone from the Scottish Borders. A fairly mild day expected.

My French helper leaves today. I will miss her. Last night we sat outside to eat our dinner, finished off the wine and chatted until the cold and midges chased us indoors.

My back was so sore earlier I had to visit the chiropractor who soothed it with a spray and suggested exercises and ice pack.
It's ironic that I am attending an escape pain clinic twice a week 🙃

I have to pack for my holiday today.

I worked magic last night, a 17" square of fabric and just two seams to make 13 yards of 3/4`` bias binding. Just one fat quarter of pretty cotton

My dell battery should come soon, my laptop is really playing up. I will have to be slow and meticulous but am sure I can fix it.

Power back, a general fault in the area

Severe HEAT warning, gg13? Oh my! Chance would be a fine thing! Our max will be 14C by 11, degenerating to 11C for the rest of the day. Heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast. Not an ideal June day.

Yesterday was fairly busy. I kidnapped one of my neighbours, who is in a lot of pain, to come to the residents’ coffee morning. She has been told to exercise, but barely leaves her chair. She seems to have thoroughly enjoyed herself and went back home on her own!

My book group also went well. Everyone liked the book and were very amused at my description - “delightfully bonkers”.

In the evening, another neighbour asked me to accompany her to a hospital appointment, where she will have a CT scan next week. Her daughter is walking in France.

Tai chi this morning, dinner with add and family this evening - she will be serving globe artichokes with dinner - received from her veg box. DH loved them and we had the beautifully architectural plants all over the garden.

Good morning from a bright and sunny part of La Sarthe.

Yesterday stayed fine all day so DH managed to mow all the grass which had grown considerably due to the recent wet weather here. Luckily, he has a lawn tractor so this wasn’t too arduous. By late afternoon it was warm enough for us to sit outside.

The younger cat recovered well from his procedure at the vet's and was happy to be out in the garden except for the aggressive behaviour of a magpie, which no doubt has young, but takes exception to Perry being anywhere outside despite it being a large garden.

I hope power is soon restored, grandMattie.

Good morning, it’s bright and chilly here too Grandmattie, I think I’m about 20 miles east-ish of you 👏, on the edge of south Glos/north Wiltshire?
Yesterday the summerhouse was collected and hopefully the replacement will be started soon. The carpenter is the same person who did all my fitted wardrobes etc so I know his work, he will build it from scratch, insulated and hopefully exactly what I want! I have every confidence in him.
Today I’m meeting my sister at the garden centre for coffee, Stitch club this afternoon. I will walk the dog first thing, DH will do it later.
