I signed out then looked at the dress, I thought it was fantastic and she looked beautiful, even the blue shoes looked good. She is slim and beautiful and that dress was outstanding in its simple lines, lovely material and that dreamy veil. I don’t like dresses that look like a meringue or barely there.

What a happy couple. I thought she looked beautiful & I loved the blue shoes. Just doing her own ‘thing’ and not conforming totally. (My DD3 wore a beautiful lace dress but insisted on wearing tartan tights beneath as a nod to her Scottish childhood). I noticed how casual & laid back the guests were, many of whom had changed, as they made their way to the reception. Ties abandoned and even one usher in tail coat, blue chinos and brown loafers! Good on them. I bet they all had a ball 🥳

Oh yes, I thought her husband looked like Dan Snow in the photos!! So it was.
Apparently she gives away half a million of her own trust fund every year to prison charities across the UK.

That’s very commendable, but I assume it will be helpful also from a tax point of view.

I understand what you’re saying Urmstongran. It seems unfair doesn’t it. Apparently the Duke of Westminster has two sisters. I wonder how they feel.
I know it’s the old way, but I couldn’t not share fairly between my children.

The laws of primogeniture are a bit antiquated, although the monarchy did abandon the male-preference a few years back, the aristocracy and their hereditary rules look set to stay forever in the dark ages.

I'm certain like many others holding a hereditary title, Johnny Spencer would have continued procreating had the 4th child have been another girl.

As far as our Royal Family is concerned it's all been a bit counter-intuitive. Arguably our 3 strongest monarchs have all been women, Elizabeth I and II and Victoria - none of whom, for various reasons, were originally destined for the throne.

The Duke’s sisters all look very beautiful women. I don’t imagine any of them are the least bit hard up.

No different to the family of Diana, Princess Of Wales. Charles Spencer, the youngest and only son inherited the title and Althorp estate.

Seem to recall he didn’t allow his sister to have a bolt hole on the estate when she wanted one, bit harsh.

Lots of people leave their property to their oldest son still, not just aristocrats, but I couldn’t either.
There are some good pictures in Hello magazine online if anybody is interested, I always like to see the outfits - he has three sisters, two older and one younger than him, and I found out that one of the sisters is married to Dan Snow.

Such wealth. It makes me uncomfortable to be honest. D oW is 10x richer than the King (who is seriously wealthy). 400 years of passing wealth down to just one son and heir. My family have been doing it all wrong down the generations, splitting and sharing our limited assets.

She looked lovely

Photos of the evening reception just popped up on my newsfeed. Princess Eugenie stepped up a bit, nice shoes, but it looks like lots of the guests went to the same place for shoes!

Just like any wedding, rich or not so rich, some looked lovely, some not so much and some....clearly didn't have a mirror

Thought they both looked great and extremely happy. She looked absolutely radiant and despite having 100 year old lace on her veil looked very modern. My sort of dress - no fuss, simple and well fitted. As others have said, very elegant.

I'm not sure that it is anything to do with anyone else to scutinise this young woman on her wedding day. They certainly made a handsome.couple, the rest is down to personal choice.

I think that’s a wee bit harsh. Surely it’s just like any group of people talking about an outfit? It would be a bit dull if we could only talk about stuff that was ‘something to do with is’.

Very dowdy dress for Princess Eugenie.

Bride's dress was very elegant, and I did like the back. Can't make up my mind about the shoes. I liked the idea, not sure about the darkness of the blue.

They looked very happy and I hope they had an absolutely splendid day.

Understated elegance is how I would describe the dress. I thought the bride looked stunning.

. I was also delighted to see my home town in the news for such a happy reason.

We used to have our school Carol Service and Commemoration Day service in Chester Cathedral so it brought back lots of memories.

My mother worked for the Duke of Westminster’s estate manager (the grandfather of the present Duke) and we lived in a tied cottage on the estate in the lovely, tranquil village of Eccleston. Happy days.

I like wedding dresses to be plain. Mine was.

I thought she looked lovely, but maybe the shoes were a little dark against the white. The Faberge tiara is beautiful.
I would have thought a red carpet more appropriate for entering and exiting the cathedral rather than MFI boarding as someone put it!

That explains it thanks OldFrill, I did think it was an odd choice for a matron of honour.
