No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.
Comparisons could be made between ‘youthful’ and energetic H and M and the elderly ailing king and Catherine also ailing.
Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.
Please don't take the criticisms of a few to heart, Whether. There is nothing wring with the word ailing. You know that and have explained your meaning. Some people just like to nit-pick.
Maybe try some of the calmer threads on GN
I'm not nitpicking.
Obviously others do not think as I do, that Gransnet had a kind of voluntary moratorium on starting threads about the Princess of Wales at the moment while she is receiving treatment.
I don’t care what H&M do. I’m not interested in them at all. I had some interest at first but that ship has sailed. They can do whatever they like, I just hope it isn’t all over the news. I do think Harry did a good thing when he helped set up the Invictus Games. It’s good that he still supports the games, but that’s it as far as I’m concerned.
I agree, I didn't see the use of the word 'ailing' to be problematic at all. In fact, I took it in the sense of what Whethertomorrow intended - just to describe someone who isn't well. Some people will take offence at anything, even where none was intended.
Charles and Diana both gave interviews and wrote books. The late Queen must have been devastated when Charles condemned his parents for the way he was brought up. H&M have been invited to Nigeria in view of the Invictus thing. H has always been very involved in army stuff, especially injured soldiers. By the way, he is Royal and that can’t be taken away. Just saying.
Whethertomorrow I'm glad you started this thread it does bring out some very humerous comments as well. Unfortunately they have given interviews and written books which alot of people feel has wounded the Royal family and were unjustified and it never seems to end. It would be preferable if they quietly visited Nigeria and not used the Invictus games as yet another excuse to make the headlines.

I used ailing to describe Charles and Catherine as in meaning not in good health. My husband battled stage 4 colon cancer for 7 years and I saw the horrendous side effects he suffered whilst enduring chemotherapy. He lost his balance easily from neuropathy and he lost feelings in his fingers and burning when they were cold. He got constant mouth ulcers and rashes. I was thinking that if they were going through half of what my husband did then they would not be feeling fully fit and well. Hence my use of the word ailing which I take to mean ‘not well’. I did not think it meant dying or at deaths door. I meant no insult or disrespect to either Catherine or Charles.
My point in making this post was to wonder if M and H were trying to set up an alternate royal court with visits overseas and what people’s views were. Just something to chat about.
I wanted different perspectives on it but the level of vitriol is horrible. I won’t post again as the distress the attacks on my post have had me in tears.
^So am I, according to an American genealogy website, so Meghan could be my twelfth cousin twice removed^ And counting?
Well, actually, I could be more distinguished because, according to someone on Ancestry the researcher, I and many others, are descended from Queen Anne Boleyn no less.
Work that one out! 😁
Does that make me Meghan's 12xGreat-Aunt twice removed?
Better keep the best china teaset in case they pop round.
Fine as long as it is H & M paying for their jaunt and not the poor of that country through their taxes and nowhere would the word Royal nor Duchess appear.

So Ragland could well be the name of a cotton plantation owner in America who employed Nigerian slaves?
I find it hard to believe that Prince Harry was related to George Washington through the Spencer’s family. He once mentioned that the US constitutional law was bonkers. Only an ignorant person will criticise constitutional laws of his host country drafted by his own ancestor.
I found out recently that my grandfather on my dad’s side was a rubber plantation owner in South East Asia.
During WW2, the family home was seized by the Japanese and used as a communication centre and later bombed by the Allies.
My grandfather lost his home and almost all his land since the villagers were building illegally on his land after the war.
Megan has obviously known that she is bi racial but has always presented on her cv’s and casting auditions as Caucasian. It's only relatively recently that she has embraced her ethnicity. Neither her race nor ethnicity has anything to do with her propensity to tell lies.
