What a huge fuss about something so trivial. I often edit my photos, just for fun. Why are there always people ready to pounce on the slightest thing .(I don't mean on GN). Catherine must be worried enough already with RF problems and health problems. And now this . I feel sorry for her.

It is ridiculous! I didn't curtsey when I met a couple of Royals and last time I looked, my head is still intact and I'm still in my own home. Orf to the Tower!

This is not the first time. Apparently the photo of the late Queen with all the gc was photoshopped too. It was also taken by Kate. It explains how they are all smiling at the same time. It looks like all previous photos are being scrutinised.

I don't know if anyone has asked this yet, but do the press agencies pay the RF for the photos? Not the newspapers who probably pay the press agencies, but the press agencies themselves. A GN may know.

I expect the photos from the Palaces have, in the past, been assumed to be legitimate.

Even back in Elizabethan days, way before cameras, I think monarchs manipulated their image by choosing particular portrait painters. Elizabeth1 always wanted her skin to look flawless, even when she was an old lady, and the painter obliged. I can't remember who, but another monarch wanted to appear taller, so the painter added a few inches.

Queen Victoria stood on a box for photos and one very small king (the famous painting on a white horse) was painted bigger than he was.

Just thinking how royalty today can digitally enhance their image, while hundreds of years ago royalty just tweeked the figure on the canvas.

I suppose, Joseann the story of Queen Victoria having her double chins "burnt in" (or out) in order to minimise the shadows on them could be considered "photo editing" - but actually, when you hand-print a photo you ard editing all the time really...

I feel the media is on the verge of bullying her, so what if she edited the photo it wasn’t anything significant or damaging to anyone I would do this myself to most photos I take if I knew how.
And why should she disclose what operation she had it’s her personal business, I wouldn’t want my medical history spread around the world

It was a family photo after all and so many families do photoshop their photos and think of it as a normal thing to do. This was certainly the view I was getting from the reporter in the States. No big deal. Sadly, our press have stringent rules which were infringed.

You are right, Lesley60 no one wants medical info out and about everywhere - but if the Wales family release photos to the press, surely they should meet modern press standards?
They do, after all, have their own press office. I think they have been let down by their staff who have obviously not checked they are OK for publication.

He won't, of course, as you say, because that would then mean his son would become King and he (or someone) would have to become Regent.

I do support the Monarchy, think it gives us a sense of continuity but, if they all wanted to give up, I'd support them in a referendum.

Of course, there may be others further down the line of succession who might want the chance of the top job.
