The two Rons. grin

I use a different email address for SM from the one I use regularly, so I wouldn't see a message saying that someone had replied anyway. As others have said, though, if I'm interested enough to reply to a thread I'm interested enough to return to it and engage with any replies or further comments.

I'm not sure the management will be interested, but you never know.

If you bookmark your own posts (click on bottom right of your post), then when you log on again click on to I'm On, you can then read the thread from where you last posted and check to see if anyone has responded.

Or if they even read your posts - I posted a fact today and about three posters subsequently posted the same thing so obviously didn't read mine 😁

I rarely look at my emails (even if I get any).

No one said it wasn’t your choice, TurtleDove. What I said was that I would hate that but we are all different. You are different, that’s all. Certainly no offence meant .

If you can’t find the preference box, just click on the ‘watch this thread’ box in orange on the right hand side at the top of each thread. You’ll then get a notification each time anyone comments.

Also your title of the thread is a bit shouty

BlueBelle Mon 05-Feb-24 13:15:09

I always look at the thread I have commented on myself to see if people are interested in my comment, or more likely not 😂why would I want emails clogging up my box
Do you mean you are only interested in what YOU said not what others think or the whole gist of the thread
Good luck with the management

I agree Elegran.

Elegran Mon 05-Feb-24 12:58:17

When I have made a contribution I am interested enough in how other people are commenting to take a look later at the thread, whether or not there is a direct reply to my latest comment. If there is, I may respond to the reply. If not, there is usually another relevant post, or more, to read.

If you don't return to see how the conversation is going without any notification, perhaps you are just not that interested in the rest of the discussion, just your own corner of it?

TurtleDove Mon 05-Feb-24 12:46:33

I did that, clicked on My gransnet and although it shows my email address there is nothing listed that states tick on email address to receive notifications. I may have to go to the management about this.

TurtleDove Mon 05-Feb-24 12:45:24

What is the point of commenting when you do not know when someone replies to you. Or why would people want to comment if you do not want to read their replies. Whether I want a lot of emails is entirely my choice. Thank you.

nanna8 Mon 05-Feb-24 12:43:47

I really don’t get why anyone would want a load of emails. I’d totally hate that. Guess we are all different.

Theexwife Mon 05-Feb-24 12:39:40

Scroll down to my gransnet, preferences, email notifications.

TurtleDove Mon 05-Feb-24 12:39:00

Where is the preference box please as I cannot see anything that states Account details.

Theexwife Mon 05-Feb-24 12:37:34

You need to tick the box in preferences that states if you want to be notified when there is a comment on your thread.

TurtleDove Mon 05-Feb-24 12:30:38

All other social media sites I have used always inform me by email that I have a reply to a comment I have made but I have noticed that Gransnet don't do that so I never see the replies unless I scroll through pages of comments looking for my oiriginal posting. Is there a reason we are not notified of replies to our comments.
