Baggs My heart goes out to you. Urms My husband was like yours. Stoic, accepting, never complaining, despite rotten treatment. I asked him if he was scared. He said 'No. I'll be scared if they tell me to be scared'. When I told people that, they said they didn't believe him. Well I've been married to him for 55 years and I believe hom. He is 10 years in remission now. I wish the same (and longer) for your DH.

I’m typing this in a Travelodge near Manchester, not where I thought I’d be 48 hours ago! As you’ll recall, we acquired a new kitten just over three weeks ago. He is adorable (and naughty) and we are quite besotted so when we heard that his breeder has a last single kitten to home, for a reduced price, we jumped at the chance. We drove down from Scotland earlier today and we are collecting her tomorrow morning! We are quite mad, I’ve decided, but what the heck, just do it anyway.

Thanks, YiaYia, we had a great time with the Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy. He is a wee bit hingy (West of Scotland for under the weather ) with a cough but he played well and ate most of his dinner. I was down on the floor with him playing with cars and dinosaurs, just had to be careful getting up again!

Oh Baggs, I too have a daughter who will be 43 this year.
And Urms, such good news and it’s wonderful Himself enjoyed his curry! Is there any possibility you could both pop over to your special place in Spain for a quick visit? A long weekend maybe,
I haven’t had a particularly busy day. I typed up the WI notes from Wednesday and circulated then. I cooked bangers and mash for dinner and then read. There is so much uncertainty in the world that I find it difficult to relax properly.
Anyway. Onwards and upwards as they say. Sleep tight.

We are back from our curry night. I cannot believe how well Himself ate. No metallic taste either - a real bonus for him. No alcohol, but he doesn’t miss it. He just wants to get well.

So many thoughtful and kind people in here. I cannot go through a roll call as I would truly monopolise the evening and I’d feel really bad if I missed anyone out - you are ALL such wonderful contributors in this place.

O dear! Baggs, Urms. Soop and so many others with sadness, worries, illness, and other difficulties and who all deserve much love, positivity and many hugs. I can only offer these 'virtually' but hold you in my thoughts and prayers. Take care and keep safe.

Today has been a day when Seamus Heaney's "big soft buffetings" fron his poem Postscript have been coming at me sideways, catching my heart off guard and blowing it up. I think it is because Monday would have been BTDD's 43rd birthday. Ah well, such is grief.

As it didn't rain today, I cut some wood with my alligator saw. Our boiler isn't working properly and awaits a part so we are getting through some wood for heating..

Sorry I am an interloper. I just needed a little breather as all the other threads are depressing me beyond words and making me too cross.
Then I read Urms post and it made me smile (and think what a whinger I am )

I am over the moon to share with you all that Himself seems to be responding well to his new iv chemo regime. I’m so proud of his positivity. It’s for real too - even in some of the darker days these last few months - he holds the line.

I’ve been with L’il Miss this afternoon and took her to the library here - her favourite place in our square - then into Thornton’s for a small cone. I know … grandmas eh? 😁

And guess what? Himself has just suggested we go over the road for a curry. If you’d have told me this last summer I’d never have believed this would be possible again. We are so very grateful that treatment at the Christie is still being offered. It’s still an anxious time (more for me than Himself - he is stronger than me in outlook and acceptance ‘it is what it is’ etc) but we are tentatively hopeful this treatment is working its magic. Baby steps.

I’m still ‘not doing a lot’ Imogen was dropped home for the afternoon, she’s being collected now, MrJ took our grandson out to the driving range. Now officially chef MrJ will be cooking sausages, mash and beans soon, I really appreciate all he’s doing, he’s usually washer upper every night, not chef too.

Well done on surviving the birthday party Grandmabatty, you have earned the wine. Beouf Bourguignon sounds ideal in that weather. It’s been sunny all day here but so cold. Think we’re having sausage, mash and beans tonight.

Pleased to hear your eyes are healing Brook and you’re resting when needed. It isn’t easy when you’re used to being active and busy.

So what have I been doing? Counted out my meds for next week, sorted some paperwork and did a little shredding, did some laundry, then daily physio exercises. Settled down with my audiobook after that. I’m listening to The Thursday Murder Club after recommendations from Soop, Jax and a few others. Really enjoying it so far.
