I loved my Bunty and Judy. Could never decide which was my favourite.
A friend’s younger sister saw me carrying them home and made me feel so immature for having them …..the6 stopped in favour of probably Jacky.

Witzend all 4 of my grandchildren loved those Usborne sticker books. I remember one day I set the 2 oldest ones a challenge to tidy out the large toy box. They set about the task while I was making dinner.

I went to check why the room had fallen silent. They’d tipped out the toy box and there was stuff all over the floor. They were sitting in the middle of the mess engrossed in 2 Usborne sticker books they’d unearthed from the bottom of the toy box.

A more modern version, which I’ve bought for a Gdd, is a sticker book (IIRC Usborne) with lots of figures in underwear, and a mass of different clothing stickers - beach, party outfits, etc. - to dress them in.

I loved the cut out dolls of my childhood. My granddaughters enjoy Sticker Dolly Dressing which feels like a modern equivalent (though slightly more robust).

I know but they are still fun. I also included Belle & Boo who are proper cut out dolls with lots of clothes.

I made a sort of cardboard cat walk, and Bunty paraded along in her different outfits.

Ahh Bunty, oh how I loved those cut out dolls and costumes. They were my main source of entertainment.

I can remember all these things - cut out dolls, scraps and playing with jacks. We also played with top and whip. two/three balls and skipping ropes. And of course, hopscotch and arrowtick.

There was ann entire folklore of street games in Liverpool where I grew up. We had "dipping" games to decide who was to be "it". If you wanted to join a game you had to ask the person whose game it was - usually the child who proposed the game or who owned the ball or skipping rope.

Every child knew the rules and you were quickly corrected if you did the wrong thing or tried to cheat. And of course children organized these things for themselves. The older kids watched out for the younger ones. We learned through play how to get on in groups and concepts such as fairness and following the rules. Of course there were sometimes arguments and friendship break ups and make-ups.

I feel really sad now that childrens play has deteriorated into "play dates" organized by helecoptering adults.

I vaguely remember that game Llamas99 but I never mastered how to play it.

Did anyone collect “scraps” to keep in the pages of a scrap book and swap duplicates with friends? I remember doing it in the late 50s. They were really just little cut out paper pictures. Puppy dogs and cherubs on clouds featured a lot. We really were easily entertained then!

I googled and found some. I had that strange looking cherub in various sizes.

Slightly off topic but does anyone remember playing 'Jacks'? A little red ball which you would bounce and while it was in the air, picking up the Jacks. Each round you increased the number picked up until all 10 are in your hand. I was a lonely child and would play this on our front porch for hours. It was more fun and competitive with more players.

Yes, loved the cut out dolls on the back of the Bunty. She seemed to lead such an adventurous life! "This week Bunty is going skiing with her friend", "Bunty has been invited to the theatre". Things that I could only dream about! Even now when I'm getting dressed to go out somewhere I have flash-backs to the dress up doll. Is it just me??!!

I bought a Forever Friends book including bear paper dolls and clothes. This would be about 25 years, my small granddaughter loved them as did her sister a few years later. Later we had a magnetic Tracy Beaker and outfits on the fridge from a Jacqueline Wilson magazine. I think nowadays any similar doll dressing activities would be somewhere on line.
The days of ‘cut out and paste onto firm card’ are, sadly long over!

Another here who spent many a happy hour dressing up these dolls. Weren’t we all easily amused? Can’t imagine my six year old granddaughter being remotely interested.

Yes I remember them. I used to have the Bunty comic so that's where I must have had mine from. I loved them.

My sister and I had paper dolls growing up in the 80s and 90s. We loved them.

Oh yes, I loved cutting them out from Bunty and I think I had cardboard ones as well. All stashed in shoe boxes, I had hours of fun with them.

I loved mine, had several, boys and girls. Played with them for hours, even at the age of 13, less worldly back then.
