Good Morning Saturday 30th December 2023

Taichinan the snow was really heavy for a while but is melting now. We cancelled breakfast and I got Tesco done before it started which made me happy.

Good afternoon from a wet and windy East Midlands. Nothing to declare except I wish these holidays were over and we were back to normal.

Snow here now south of Edinburgh but light so far. It's freezing here.

I went to the supermarket and came out to snow. I struggled to get home and nearly hit DH's car, trying to reverse into the drive.
He was oblivious and hadn't noticed how bad it was. I ended up facing the wrong way!

The roads are treacherous here, no griitters have been out.

Grandmabatty - just heard that the first flurries of snow have started to fall in Stirling. You next by the sound of that sky!

Good morning from Dunblane where it has just got very dark and has started snowing! ☃️ Oh well didn’t have anything planned for today anyway may feel guilty enough to do that large pile of ironing that has built up. Got a Tesco delivery so plenty of food to keep us going, probably too much as always at this time of year. We are lucky to be in that position. We had a lovely Christmas but wish New Year was passed and everything back to normal. Thoughts with all those struggling.

Good morning from Glasgow. Woke up to a very frosty, chilly day.

I had a lovely early morning FaceTime catch up with both our girls, halfway through I noticed heavy snow falling and the garden was completely covered in no time. DD2 in Australia loved it, they are having temperatures of 40deg. DD1 and myself were not so impressed! Very pretty though from a window.

I stocked up with enough food and treats at Waitrose yesterday and took advantage, again, of their discount deal, 6 bottles of Whispering Angel. I am now well stocked up with a good supply for my early evening glass of rosé.

Breakfast with a friend was cancelled so I went to Tesco instead. I'm now having a cuppa and gazing at the sky which is getting darker and darker. Something is going to fall out of it, that's for sure.

Good morning from West Sussex. The forecast wind and rain haven’t arrived yet. It’s very quiet in our little ‘mews’ (set back from the road but a modern development so no stables!).

DD3 and youngest GD are coming to our local cinema to see Wonka. DH and I will go too. It is always fun watching a film with little ones.

We went to inspect our allotment plot yesterday and found the water levels had gone down so I did a bit of weeding while DH snipped bits off the apple trees. We planted three apple, one pear and one plum tree about four years ago but so far very little fruit. We will prune and feed and hope for bumper crops this year.

Ash, I don’t envy you that crossing. I hope your onward journey to Crewe is straightforward.

I’d better get on - DD and DGD will want lunch before the film.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull 6° northwest coast.
DD had her 50th birthday party in town with lots of friends and I joined her where the wine etc flowed freely leaving me with a headache yesterday. I came home by taxi when they all carried on partying. Even though she now lives in the south, it’s nice to see all her friends here. One stayed overnight as not that local. She looked very nice in a gold sparkly dress.

I will have a clear up today and DD leaves for her long journey home. The house is rather chaotic after Christmas, birthdays etc.

Good morning from a cold, deeply frosted Boggy Brae where the easterly wind is blowing trees around rather vigorously.

MrB loves a fondu so he is dropping his low carb approach to life for today and tomorrow and hopes to see the year off this weekend with cheesy feasting.

I shall carry on with my painting.

Good morning everyone from a damp south Manchester. I’m meeting my neighbour for a coffee this afternoon as sadly her husband died in the hospice over Christmas. No other plans but I have a new book to read and a bag of soft liquorice to open. I have to go carefully with that - it’s so moreish!

Good morning from a very very cold day here on the east coast of Fife. For those who live in Scotland I’ve still got the lurgy aka a very bad cold. It does seem to be improving but I’ll be having another jammy day with my new Christmas ones and I’ll be nice and cosy.

Good morning from another dull and damp Black Country.

Good day yesterday for DS's 48th birthday. Small family gathering with the 4 cousins altogether, although the eldest who is 19 aligns with the adults! Made plans to meet up for lunch next Wednesday for Mum's 94th birthday. It seems to be all birthdays this time of year in our family.

No real plans today. Will make soup from the Turkey stock for lunch, and plan to make some Baileys Ice-cream.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and icy. I might be meeting a friend for breakfast but I'm not sure if it's happening or not. I'll definitely need to shop for food. The forecast isn't good for here for today so I'll see how it goes. My boiler is making a funny noise too. Oh dear. That's all I need at this time of year. I hope you have a good day

Grey and damp so no incentive to get up, especially as I have no plans for today. Lots of things I could/should do but doubt I will, especially as I have new books to read. Not sure what to eat but the freezer is still full so starvation is not imminent.

Good morning from a dry Suffolk where gusty winds are forecast for later.

Apart from meeting a friend for a hastily arranged coffee this morning and the possibility that DS will,in his words,’pop over later,nothing else planned. We have several huge branches down from various trees in the garden and they are really too heavy for either of us to haul into 1 spot waiting for them to be sawed into wood burning sizes.

It takes usually about an hour’s drive from DS to us and,as he has a similar length drive to and from work, I don’t like to think of him spending precious family time doing such driving at the weekends. Given both DDs live more than 4 hours drive away, he has willingly I think, taken on the responsibility of doing what DGS3 describes as ‘jobs’ for us.

Hoping there are improvements in the weather for those affected by the recent storms.

Morning Mick, morning All from a calm corner of Somerset. The strong winds are due later along with yet more heavy rain.

As karma said the motorways were very busy yesterday, it poured for all of our outward journey, better for the return. Worth it as we had a thoroughly enjoyable time with the family. It’s always a joy to see the cousins together.

We stopped at a surprisingly quiet shopping mall late afternoon to return two dresses I’d ordered on line. All I say is my shape wasn’t compatible with theirs. Easier than returning them by post and providing a break, an under cover walk and a coffee as well as some browsing. Didn’t buy a thing, Mr C is still in shock.

Quiet one for us today. General pottering for me, Mr C has Lego to build, there will be a call from a cousin at some point but that’s it. No need to venture out unless I decide to collect a package from M&S.

I enjoyed getting back to the gym yesterday, Im planning to go into town sometime today to have a quick browse around the shops. but not much else. Might catch up with DD2 and the DGC at some point over the weekend but no definite plans

Good morning, Michael and all GMs. Just coming light in South Yorkshire but I think we will have rain later. Very windy again yesterday. I had a bit of post Christmas lag yesterday - tired all day. I went outside only to run down the water butt a bit as it is constantly overflowing and making the outside wall wet. The rest of the day was spent reading and knitting. Today I will put some of the Christmas decs - crib, candle bridge etc - back in their boxes, but will leave the tree as GS is coming to help me take it down next week and put everything back in the loft.
