Do you buy Christmas presents for your pets?

No harm in an extra bag of dog biscuits doodlebug I don’t think that’s all that’s being talked about though which brought on my 😱 posters were talking about advent calendars, scarfs, Christmas stockings, etc etc and these are sensible Gransnetters
Goodness knows what goes on with not so sensible families when I see pictures of dogs in Christmas pyjamas etc etc and a lady came in the charity shop the other day to look at the little baby girls frillies for her dog !!!

I’m really surprised you don’t buy a gift for your dog FleurPepper, especially being a rescue like mine. I have always bought gifts for my pets. They have always been treated as the much loved family members that they are/were.

FAir enough- but that was the question in the OP. My answer is NO- simple.

It wasn't really - the implication was that because they are pets they shouldn't get presents. Not that it matters either way - horses for courses and all that.

I recognise GSM's thoughts and wholly empathise. Our whippet will have a present, although I have a strong suspicion he harbours the belief that a special treat is his right 365 days of the year.

My dog is a member of the family. A very important one. We have presents to open and so does she. German shepherds are highly intelligent and she would, I think, realise that everyone but her was getting a treat to open. Not dissimilar to feeding ourselves but not her.

I never used to with my previous dogs , but I do with my current dog . It’s only his second Christmas tho . He has a supposedly indestructible toy 🤷‍♀️

We've just been to Aldi to get 4 enormous swedes ( 15p each ! ) for the ponies for christmas day . My OH will drill a hole through the middle of each one , thread some baler twine through to hang them from and the ponies will chew and play with them for hours . Wish the grandkids were that cheap and easy to please !

My nephews can loves empty boxes so he wraps up one and then the cat loves tearing the paper to shreds. After that he does his best to fit into the box. Every envelope which arrives gets bitten in the top right hand corner if nephew does not get to it first.

The cat gets his own special christmas dinner.

This year he put up a tree with blinking lights and baubles. The cat sits watching it and also looking at his reflection in the baubles. So far he has not tried to jump into it (as previous cat did).

😂😂Just nipped to the supermarket and I could hardly see a basket that didn't have something for the pets in, I struggled to find a toy that my dog hasn't had in the pet shop this year.

No I've given up on dog presents. Neither of them play with toys and one is on a very strict diet due to liver problems. Just lots of love and cuddles.

Yes anew ball each for the four cats two of which are 8 month old kittens who are mad! Daughter has bought lots of foodie treats including something special for Christmas dinner

I bought my Grand-dog an Advent calendar and he’s got a bag of chicken flavoured treats for the day (and weeks to come).

I don’t have my own dog. But I’ve included a pack of dog treats in each of the family Christmas hampers I’ve put together for my AC.

Absolutely. One of my dogs is an excellent unwrapper. It can get a bit manic as she wants to open every gift 🎁

Well I would if she was awake at Christmas. She's tucked up in hibernation until early Spring so always misses the festivities. Not sure what I'd buy for a tortoise though...maybe a prettily wrapped cuttlefish to gnaw on or a little bobble hat to wear on her shell?!

I've just wrapped up a small scarf for my dog, made from the leftovers of a Christmas pocket scarf I've made for me. Just for fun. It's under the tree.
Now wrapped a pack of dog treats but put that up on a high shelf so that he doesn't tear into it in advance.

He doesn't chew nylabone type chews, and doesn't understand toys. Ex-Bucharesti street dog, doesn't really understand play but he loves to unwrap things!

I’m on the naff list here because my daft young lab is getting a cheeky elf. It’s a dog toy, so he won’t be able to eat it and end up at the emergency vet. That spaniel has a new dog toy, fluffy soft bear.
