Bitterly cold wind. Snow on the peaks of the mountains. Hunker down and stay cosy.

Soop the cold wind would cut right through you. The temperature has dropped to 0° already and forecast to go very low. The boys were out of sorts today. Dgs2 was fretful at times and didn't sleep well, despite being tired. Dgs1 is suffering from headaches and was exceedingly grumpy this afternoon. Their dad has a cold so I expect it's all connected. I'm having a quiet five minutes before I make stovies for dinner. I hope Urms, her dear man, Baggs and her dear daughter are ok tonight. I'm thinking of them in particular.

We had a nice visit to DS1, DDIL1 and family yesterday to celebrate DGS1's 17th birthday, where does the time go? He's a great laddie, taller than his Daddy now and looking forward to learning to drive.

Very cold here, it was minus 3 when I took the car out of the garage at 9 this morning to go to Mass. Our street was all white, frosty and icy but the main roads were fine. I'd put salt down last night on the steps and the paths, I was very glad of that today.
Home made soup for lunch, ideal for days like this. Chicken curry leftovers for dinner, the joys of batch cooking!

Hope everyone is comfy and cosy, snow is expected tomorrow. I'll be waiting in for the Gas man, glad I don't have to go out again.

Good afternoon kitchen pals, we made it down to Edinburgh without too much trouble although there was lots of snow and ice around, the scenery was beautiful though. I bet the view from your window is gorgeous too soop with the snow capped hills.
We’re in one of the premier inns and just going to go out and get a pizza or something before it gets too cold. I don’t know what it is about Edinburgh but whenever we’re here it’s always freezing cold🥶 I’m a bit worried about tomorrow’s flight, the forecast is for lots of snow so I’m envisaging us bring stuck at the airport for quite a while… will see what tomorrow brings ⛄️⛄️
A challenging day for you grandmabatty with the little ones being out of sorts - I definitely feel for you. My AC can still be quite grumpy at times so I don’t think they’ve ever outgrown it either 🤣

A quiet day on the phones, my daughter borrowed my car all day as her car was being MOT’d, last of course (it passed).
I had a couple of garden wanders, it is bitter, -1 now, I’ll wrap up warm after a pasta dinner.
Thoughts tonight with those who have harder struggles than a spot of cold weather.

It’s v cold here as well, roads are ice rinks.

I’ve had an eventful 24hrs or so. My blood pressure and pulse went sky high yesterday evening and I ended up being ambulanced to hospital. I was admitted overnight and it seems that the events of the weekend have been probably been caused by a viral infection. Not Covid or flu, which they tested for. I’m home now, feeling rather shaken up by events. The NHS worked to perfection this time, no delays or other issues - if only it did that across the board.

I’ve had a fairly ordinary day composed of the weekly shop and taking another bag of clothes to a charity shop.
I am keeping an eye on the Republican shenanigans in the US. trump is expected to win the first part of the race to be the Republican candidate. How can so many Conservative Evangelical Christians support him with his history and personality?

Oh heck sued. Scary stuff. Please advise your BP to behave in future. Sleep well tonight, you deserve a good rest.

Busy and fairly successful day here. Mr C had lots of positive messages at his cardiac rehab session, star pupil. I caught up with bits and bobs needed from what felt like every shop in the area. Heaps of broken this and that from the garden taken to the tip after lunch with not a queue in sight. A miracle.

We’re a bit bemused about our booked coach holiday. The primary impetus was to enable us to see our friend who we are losing to dementia. It seems she may be in a different Home too far from our base for the day trip we’d planned. If so we’re not so keen on going, being so near yet so far would be difficult for me. We’ve been friends for 70 years, she’s the closest I have to a sister. No one’s fault so no point being cross. A quick look at the terms and conditions seems to say we could swap to a different holiday. More investigations tomorrow to clarify the cut off point. Don’t want to act too soon in case it would still work. There are worse things. Always something to challenge though !

Good evening Kitcheners. In addition to my ongoing balance and other issues I have been poorly for the last week or so with what turned out to be a kidney infection. It caused some horrendous symptoms. It’s feeling better now, fingers crossed it will soon be gone.

I have managed a walk today, it has been sunny though very cold. Snow forecast for tomorrow so I thought I’d get out while I could.

Oh wow so very much to catch up on in the kitchen. I'm ( we ...DOH went down with COVID too) are now at the negative but still snotty snotty and tired stage. I've got that horrible smell of smoke coming and going too. I've had it before ( pre COVID)..and googled it to see what it could be and didn't like what I read so have opted to ignore it and just spray perfume on a tissue and sniff it to overcome the smell...last night both DOH and I drifted off to sleep smelling of Mary Quants Havoc!!!!!. I've got to go and count the collection money at church now but will be back later to regale you with the inaugural Henrietta Moho trip this weekend.

Naughtyneine When I read that you and your husband went to bed smelling of Mary Quant's Havoc I almost choked on my coffee.

I am in hospital with DH. Been here for 2+ weeks now while he fights bad infections. Second hospital stay in last 2 months. So exhausting.

Thanks soop , Neine and NannyT. I have done very little today apart from sort out my meds for the next few weeks. It has snowed so no walk, MrB went to Lidl first thing so we’re well stocked.

Hope your DH feels better soon Doodle you must be exhausted.

I hope Mr Soop hasn't had to have his poor head scraped again...I wince every time he has to go to the doctors. Good luck with the POA ..I know it's very sensible but hoping that as DOH is much younger he will be able to sort all that sort of thing out if needed.

SueD... I've had that happen on a few occasions...it's terrifying and I really felt for you reading your post. When it's happened recently DOH kneels in front of me and gets me to breathe through my nose and not try and do the natural reaction of breathing through my mouth. This definitely helps as it keeps me from panicking so much too. I hope it doesn't happen again to you but if it does try that technique maybe.
Blossoming...I hope you feel stronger soon.... It's so easy to go a bit overboard when you feel 'better' and then it sets you back. I had ME years ago and it was only after I listened to my body and didn't go crazy on my good days that I slowly got better..it took over 2 years before I started to get better completely. I'm wishing you stronger soon.
GrandmaB...I hope your DGS is feeling better today...they go down so quickly don't they? and then spring back equally quickly...normally after they have passed it on!!!!!. Fingers crossed you will stay well.

Grandmarie...how exciting for your DGS wanting to learn to drive...passing my test is high up on my list of the best things that happened in my life.
Talking of driving...I have not taken the wheel of Henrietta Moho as yet...and as I have said to DOH unless he breaks both arms I won't be any time soon. We went to a site at Cofton near Dawlish on Saturday. There were quite a lot of lunatics ( sorry I mean Motor Home enthusiasts) there given that it was January. We crated the dogs on the way down and it was mayhem...the small pony removed herself as soon as we stopped anywhere. ( She had made her displeasure at being crated known within 10 minutes of being put in it on Christmas night and destroyed the front grid). That was our fault and I felt awful that we hadn't acclimatised her sufficiently. Thankfully the 2 smaller dogs managed the 40 minute journey without destroying their crate. We had a nice plot right in a corner with no neighbours apart from the couple we went with who are seasoned motor homes. The weather was beautiful and there were odd moments when I felt I was enjoying myself. Although it looked like we were parked on the flat we weren't and as I was furthest across the bed I kept rolling into DOH ( looking back I think just maybe he knew that would be the case if the grin on his face when I careered into him was anything to go by). We had some lovely walks with the dogs and a very nice carvery on Sunday too...( My heart was a bit in my mouth in our return from the meal in case the dogs had caused any damage but bless them they had behaved perfectly. ). I can't lie and say I wasn't glad to get home yesterday and even though it was a Monday...I had wine...2 large glasses.
I'm sure it'll get better🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Thinking of you and your DH, Doodle, hoping you get him home soon and you get some rest. When my DH was very ill in hospital with sepsis the only drug that got the infection under control was Tazocin.
Hoping SueD is resting and recovering today, Grandmabatty has had an easier day with her wee boys, and the brooks are enjoying the sunshine ☀!

Hi all from the cold south, I’m sorry we won’t get snow ant time soon, but hope brook is away safely and SueDonim’s daughter landed the same.
I really want to get into the garden, but it’s too cold for my hands, they would be useless after not long, planning is all I can do.
Many shenanigans neine my days of any such adventures are past, I like warmth and a smidge of home comforts, good luck.
Doodle you and MrD are having the worst time, I’m fingers crossed he’ll be home soon.
