Apart from the coughing I think we’re improving.DH has a much worse cough than me but, he’s a day or so after mine started.Hopefully we can swap gifts and have a another Christmas Day next weekend with DS1 and DS3 plus GC’s something to look forward too.

We are at the tail end of Covid, so we have been blessed by an ASDA delivery, and have just enjoyed baked Camembert with baguette and fruit.
Looking forward to Strictly Xmas special.

It’s been a sad end to 2023 this past month as we have lost a BIL, our beloved dog and had COVID so I am hoping for things to turn a corner for 2024.

It’s felt a busy one here today. Our granddaughters mum visited with her own mum who has dementia. We were so pleased to see them both while being left saddened at the changes we saw in a strong, capable woman.

Sausage rolls made, a curry lunch, a long visit to a neighbour taking some sausage rolls with me, Christmas cleaning and gathering ready to spend the day with our son tomorrow. All worth it for sure.

I never knew Hobnobs were so dangerous baggs, although you make light of it what a scare. Hope you, neine, blossoming and anyone feeling less than well can rest and enjoy Christmas time.

We’ll be off in the Christmas tree in the morning, our son has booked a (gold plated!) lunch in his village pub. Home later, a flying visit to our Typhoon and his parents on Boxing Day morning, whizzing back home to be here when the teenagers come to visit with their Dad. Restful it won’t be but we’re so grateful we can do it.

Not sure when I’ll get back to this warm Kitchen so I’ll wish you all the best Christmas it can be and send my heartfelt thanks for this safe space and to you all for your support in what has been a less than easy year in cornerland.

I ordered an online delivery from Amazon Fresh and it arrived today. As I had ordered a bottle of wine, I had to produce my driving licence. It was not the driver's fault but I told him what to say to his managers on return but no doubt it was edited. I may not look 80 but surely common sense should prevail.

Hi kitcheners, gosh you’re all dynamic, I’ve done little but cook veg, mash it, for our bubble and sort out some ice cubes. This is the first year we’re going to my daughters for ‘the day’, last year, as previously, it would be gloriously hectic here now.
I’ll miss the morning stocking opening in our bedroom, but the grandchildren and my daughter, I think, are looking forward to having this time in their house and tonight their beds.

Evening everyone.
Seldom post but always read this lovely friendly thread.
Wanted to wish everyone a Happy and peaceful Christmas.
We shall be just the two of us but have seen all the family at some time over the last few weeks.
It’s now almost six weeks since I had a pacemaker fitted and life is getting back to normal.
We are just grateful to still have each other and count our blessings every day.
I shall say an extra prayer tonight for all who are sad and worried and for our troubled world.

Another busy day, it was lovely to meet up with all my siblings at DSis1's home this afternoon, it's her wee granddaughter's first Christmas. She is beginning to take her first steps, but she enjoyed being passed around her great aunts and great uncle and she had great fun with the dogs, a labradoodle and her own golden retreiver. A happy afternoon.
I'm off to Carols and Mass soon, I'll light candles and say a wee prayer for Kitchen folk who need/ wish one.
Thinking of you all, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow.
Wishing everyone the joy and peace of the Christmas season.

Happy Christmas to you all. I’m posting tonight because I don’t think I’ll be able tomorrow. My plan is to catch up if at all possible.

First of all thanks to Suedonim re “What three words” . I tried that once to get an ambulance, would you believe they told me that they use a different system! However our nephew was visiting when the nurse phoned to say she was lost and volunteered to go down to the main road to meet her. He came back with not only the nurse but also our doctor (they’d been lost in the hills) who proceeded to examine DH and arranged another check at the health centre yesterday and then on next Wednesday we have to go to the surgery for DH to have the staples out. Meanwhile he has to have an injection daily for 24 days. Unfortunately at this point I chickened out, I think I might have been able to do it if it wasn’t all around the operation site on DH’s tender belly. Nephew deserves another star as he said that he would do it. It means a daily visit from him which is a big tie obviously.

DH is recovering well I think, not an easy patient to be honest especially with regards to what he should eat and complaining to anyone who will listen that that he’s not allowed to drink any alcohol this year. I think he thinks he’s being funny but it’s got a bit old hat.
I might have lost my sense of humour!

Hope all the Soop Kitcheners have a wonderful Christmas time. I’m not exactly ill thank goodness but taking eye medication every three hours until January when the eye hospital reopens for tests. As it’s Christmas Day tomorrow might treat myself to an eye patch. We are entertaining but I am not allowed to shower, cook, pretty much anything but hopefully I can relax as it’s been so stressful. Wishing you all a wonderful day.
